- In this special episode I've put together a time lapse video documenting the 1500+ hours work put into the restoration / rebuild of my GT40
The work started November 2020 with the car making it back onto the road September 2022 but the journey hasn't finished yet!

Watched this project from the very beginning so was well aware there was no aspect of this car that had not been re-engineered, modified or re-imagined.
Even so, watching the whole project from start to finish in one go is a strong reminder just how much love and care went into it.
It's a wonderful monument to your achievement Andrew.

Still think this has to be the best non original GT40 in Britain. If there's a better one.....show me! Again, a job superbly done Andrew.
That's a bold claim James! haha. I highly doubt it though :-) There are some builds which are on another level and some in progress even above those! For my first ever go it's turned out reasonable, it's by no means perfect :-)

I LOVE the new colour. Gorgeous! Well built too. Congrats and kudos to you.
You tend to forget all the steps and changes you made along the way. This video is a great reminder, despite it not showing all the extras you did along the way.

I have to congratulate you for such fantastic job you did 👏 it was epic.😮 Here in America we got a manufacturing company called Superformace , I called them and their gt 40 cars are not rain proof .

Andrew you are an artist. You did a wonderful job, it looks so classy with the color choices, the wood touch points, and the body color. At first I couldn’t understand why you were cutting the body but now I can see why! Your car is stunning!

I'm preparing myself for the possible purchase of a RCR kit in Dec, this gives me a little insight on what to expect except your chassis is tubular, where there is an aluminium tub. But seeing the modifications to make it look more accurate is the kind of inspiration and information I needed to see! great job, looks absolutely amazing!

Absolutely amazing! I had forgotten so many little mods. And you did all of this in a relatively short amount of time. From cobbled together Purple People Eater to centerfold car in two years is quite a Herculean feat. You sir, have bragging rights! Very beautiful, Andrew.

This is an impressive project! I’ve been watching a bunch of your videos lately. I’ve always wanted to get a GT40 in your spec, the wide body MKI, but a Superformance is a bit out of the price range. I was looking at other options such as the Tornado kit, will you do a video on how much the project cost you? Looking forward to more content from you

How is the Nyalic on the panels performing? I guess you treated all yours before fitting back on the car? I did mine in situ and some panels had micro bubbles whilst others never seemed to fully harden and are a little waxy to the touch. Think I may have had some sort of residue on them so probably my fault, not the product 🙄
I roughly worked out that its around 1500 hours.
The Nyalic is holding up perfectly, sorry to hear you had issues with yours, by the sounds of it the panels weren't clinically clean unfortunately hence the reaction. I washed all of my panels with soap and hot water, then went over them very carefully with acetone on paper towels, wiping them over until the paper towels didn't lift off any more dirt.
Due to me scratching a couple of the panels I did have to touch them up again and that was done just by again wiping them down with acetone and then spraying the Nyalic, the new & old coating married in perfectly
Which chassis company is this? CAV40? How much did it come to total without labor?

Would you recommend doing this? Rebuilding a kit car. Or just go buy a kit brand new?

how does it ride? is it comfortable on the street?
It ride great, I've the dampers set pretty soft and it rides the bumps beautifully
