I hope you guys enjoy part one of our build on this legend. keep in mind this will only be a MRK 4 GT40 on the outside, the chassis was made with steel square tubing to handle the 1200hp twin turbo coyote v8 that will be crammed into the middle of this car haha, around all that we will be using aluminum as much as possible for all covers and places to bolt things to. It will have corvette suspension from a c6, automatic air jack lifters, automatic air lift for driveways, air-conditioning, a radio, leather and suede interior and actual sealed cab for luxury. it will be very far from the original, but it will look like one on the outside. carbon ceramic rotors, 19-20 combo wheels, trust me it will be a head turner when its all done.
If you have any ideas on something maybe we should add to the car comment below and will will take it into consideration.

I have always loved the GT40 and all of the different types. Why did your Dad choose to build the Mk4, and what are your plans after it's completed? Will it be vintage raced, or a street car to turn heads as they see it on the road? Thanks for sharing your welding & building skills. I'll follow the build to the finish, and watch you & your Dad have fun driving your Mk4.

Thanks for the compliments, so he's a Carroll Shelby lover always has been, building the mk4 didn't come easy, its a car he's always wanted to build. however the cost to build such a car is outrageous because there is no kit you can buy for it, everything you see was built from scratch. the body we had a guy in New York mold it to spec then my dad straightened it all to be presentable. the chassis was all constructed from scratch. unfortunately we didn't get footage from day one because I wasn't here for that part I had been in SC at the time of that. but to more answer your question he choose to build this particular car because it will be extremely rare when finished and yes it will mainly be used for street rides and car shows occasionally bring to the race track, lord knows it will be built for it. plans for hp is around 1100hp. the interior will be spec to modern day racing from the roll cage to the seat belts. but the real beauty to this car is it Well have ac in it haha with leather an alcantara interior its gonna be sweet.

@@Highspeed2322 Thank you very much, Paul, for taking the time answering all my questions. Now I understand the Mk4 build. Yes, it will be a very rare Mk4, and what a great choice. I totally agree on having AC, these cars don't have much ventilation and they get hot inside during a long drive. I'd make the interior as comfortable as possible; it's a Driver & not a Racer.

Fantastic build. Keep up the videos. You don’t see any Mk4’s except in the museum, vintage LeMans and Goodwood. Just finished building a 1965 427 SC Cobra replica myself and now on to the GT40 Mark 2 build. Did your father use much CAD and a a model of the car to develop the proper dimensions?

The Mk IV was the last gen to win LeMans, and had the infamous "cammer" 427. For the Mk IV, Ford engineers (Shelby had already been fired by Deuce) redesigned the nose that copied the other makes with the more vertical headlamps. It wasn't long after that Ford decided to pull out of endurance racing, going back to just being an engine supplier.

@@alvinbanks No, the Daytonas never ran the 427. They were all 289 cars. Brock had plans to make one, but after the death Ken Miles, many things were scrapped. I do agree with your last statement.

We had a guy in NY make the mold for us. He's asked that we don't advertise him, because he said it was a nightmare haha. Once the mold was made we have had to put hundreds of hours into it to make it useable because it was just way off in places we chose not to include all of the footage of said work because it would just be way to long of a video. I do have a Patreon channel that I will uploading exclusive content to showing in more detail of whats going into this and ill have vidoes of me talking on it. check the patreon it might be helpful for ya
