I've been following you for about a year now, maybe slightly more, I remember looking for CZcams videos about the Dutch language back then to further motivate me and yours really stood out, they were funny and the subtitles were incredibly useful, everything about them was good, I especially liked the voice, which was calm and reassuring. Thank you for being persistent and keeping at it, and don't be discouraged if you get hate comments, we (most of your viewers\students) really appreciate you and what you do, if I may say so.

I am sorry to hear that you have had to cope with "haters". What can they find in your videos to hate? It is baffling, but I guess for such people, simply disagreeing with someone will always lead them to hatefulness. It's a sad fact of life on social media. Hope you can ignore them.

She is so nice. A good teacher. I don't understand why someone gives her grief.
Targeting RICH comes naturally to the depraved out of jealousy. Kim is RICH in the sense of intellect even if not with millions in the bank. Being highly educated, witty, creative, attractive etc. is not in dispute. Hatred is akin to random criminality. We had a 5 yr old boy assaulted by a middle aged woman and a throat slashing incident here in Vancouver Canada. Criminologists never find specific rationale and just call them psychopaths. They hate almost everyone. Those who are in the limelight like Kim become easy target. With luck I too am very blessed and possess several talents and am often target of racial slurs and other crazy sleazy comments due to the fact of being a neuroscientist, ;longevity researcher, author and that I speak 21 languages, a marathoner, artist, musician and so on. I have some 30 hobbies and I am good with most of them. Hatred comes from the inner darkness of the haters and that is mostly random so there is no reason for Kim to take it personally. The internet sadly provides a very safe tool for expression of hate. If someone swore at me in person he risks being slapped. I have good muscles in my arms but on the dark web when their identity is concealed they feel free to do whatever they wish. That does make web a very dark place. But on the whole the positive remarks outweigh that negligible negativity. Ignoring is the way to deal with those spammers trolls or stalkers. It is best not to open dialogues. The negativity is an expression of the inner darkness of those sad pathetic and depraved creatures and not a reflection of the quality of Kim's work of her person. That slandering is always targeted at the person not their production or output anyway. They are limited in their vocabulary due to retarded mental growth due to childhood abuse depravity etc. It is OK to pity those poor rascals.. In some cases they can be and must be reported if they are engage in hate crime of some sort.

Ik heb je CZcams-kanaal 3 weken geleden gevonden. Ik probeer 2 uur per dag naar lessen te kijken en mijn tong aan het werk te krijgen. Je hebt het leuk en gemakkelijk gemaakt om Nederlands te leren. Ik ben 66 jaar geleden in Utrecht geboren, maar mijn ouders wilden Engels leren en na een tijdje sprak ik ook geen Nederlands meer. Ik ben zo blij om eindelijk mijn slapende nederlander wakker te maken. (google translate deed dit)

Beste Kim, jouw lessen waren en zijn heel hulpvaardig vooral omdat ik "Nederlands Nederlands" hoor en geen "Vlaams Nederlands". Ik ben ook dankbaar dat ik uitdrukkingen die ik in mijn lessen (ik ben Duitser in Brussel) niet hoor (bijvoorbeeld scheldwoorden) kan leren kennen. I am new to your channel but finding your videos very, very helpful. I expect that I will take your beginner course soon but I am still trying to set up my personal approach to learning Dutch which I started because I am retired this year and have time finally. I don't know yet what will be most effective for me but am trying several different materials to see. I appreciate how much work you are putting into the channel and the added bit of theater is entertaining and helps me pay attention. As I visit NL two or three times a year to see my daughter and her family near Den Hague, I hope I am lucky enough to recognize you on the street one day!

The CZcams algorithm put that video you did with the 3 linguistic specialists in my feed where they had to guess the meanings of words. Probably about 2 or 3 months ago. I thought that you had a uniquely awesome personality so I found your channel from there. I think you have a great aptitude for doing this kind of thing, probably not limited to teaching only, as with the "about Dutch" video 2 weeks back that I thought was awesome, by the way. A lot of very successful CZcamsrs don't have half of your natural ability, so you can probably go quite far with whatever you try. So congrats, thanks, and good luck for the next two years! Also remember that haters hate everything. It's not really personal. I think that they just want attention and are probably very much in need of it.

I've started following you only recently (youtube algorithm finally blessed me with finding a good Dutch content:) and I am so happy to have discovered you! I appreciate that you put in the top right corner the translation of specific phrases and words, I love listening and reading to it at the same time. The fact that you speak a bit slower and pronounce everything clearly makes your content also more approachable in my opinion, I can't believe there are people who would hate your accent (there are SO SO SO many accents in the Netherlands, not to mention foreign accents. This is something I struggle with the most). Keep up the good work and thank you

For me Dutch reminds me of what in England we call Tudor or mock-Tudor architecture. It reminds me of England's historical and cultural links with northern Europe. So teaching Dutch has a value beyond language teaching. So well done Kim!

Kim, thank you for your videos! I started studying Dutch with Duolingo, which gave me enough knowledge to read some Dutch newspaper articles, but very little understanding of spoken Dutch. Making another comment on an old video as I slowly work my way through them all! 😁 I haven't been following for all that long - a few months - but I found you from the video you did on Ecolinguist a year or so ago. Your enthusiastic personality made me actually want to learn Dutch. I have a friend who lives in Alkmaar but I hadn't really considered learning the language past the really basic greetings before then. Over the past few weeks I've started to learn a bit more seriously and dedicate some real time to it, and your videos are really helping in that task, especially your explanations of some of the more complex aspects of the language, such as when to use "geen" and when to use "niet". I'm currently using LingQ as my main source of learning, alongside Drops, Duolingo, Anki and Bart de Pau's free vocabulary course, but fully intend to sign up to your beginners course soon too.
Anyway, I hope since this video was uploaded you're getting fewer haters, as your videos really are excellent! It's very easy to say, but ignore the haters! Laugh off their silly comments and don't let them get to you!

hoi Kim, bedankt voor de mooie videos! Ik vind hen zo handig, jij ben de enigste met dit soort content en kwaliteit voor het Nederlands op YT! Heb je al gedacht aan andere formaten te testen, bijv. iets als wat bij "Easy German" doen? En ja, ik kijk je sinds een jaar of zo, mijn interesse is meer vocabulaire en hoe mensen praten in het echte.

I found the channel as I was interested to see how much Dutch I could understand, being half German/half English ..love the smile and positive vibes (and I will try to learn some Dutch one day!!) re the haters - they get everywhere.. sadly they must spend their lives trawling youtube, trying to upset people. I even had some pretty stupid comments on model rail videos! great that you can laugh them off, but still not cool. Keep up the great work :-) (new word learned - achterhoofd - love it!)
