  • This is our second heat race from the Skusa Supernationals 26 weekend. In this KZ Shifter kart heat race, I had a good start, but got up on the kurb in turn one, and lost the rear under acceleration. We had great speed this weekend, and were very competitive, finishing 4th and 8th in our other heat races. While this DNF ruined our starting spot for the final, we still had speed. Enjoy the video!

Ain't no street circuit. It's a parking lot. It's a joke to me, that one of the biggest kart races in America is run in a parking lot.

"I would say this is a much better and more suitable option for karting. First of all, there is no need to spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on occupying and renting city streets for a week. The width of a city street is also MUCH too large for a karting track, the scale for these barrier tracks is much more appropriate and perfect for karts to race on. Wide city streets would make the racing dull and much harder to set up viewing and pit spaces. The temporary track also allows the track designers to design a much more interesting track than boring 90 degree city street blocks, as we dont have the budget of Formula one IndyCar to build our own tracks. It also measn a new track design can be used each year, wich means a "home track advantage" basicaly does not exist. Parking lots are also WAAYYYY smoother than city streets and roads here in the US, so we dont have to deal with lots holes and bumps that most F1 tracks have payed millions to repave. Also, being in a parking lot actually allows us to build a "street circtuit" with barriers and layouts that that very well replecate the feeling and required skill of driving on an actual narrow, barrier lined street cirtcuit in Formula 1, like Monaco or Baku, where milimeter accuracy seperates the front runners from the midpack. Also, these tracks are much safer, less light poles, stop lights, stop signs, pedestrians to hit and potentially seriously injure racers and participants which has happened on tracks orginized on city streets. Plus, the parking lot is also tehnically a street, its an extension of the road way, and is under the same rules and regulations as a public road, meaning its a street.

@@filipniemkiewicz1026 Basically my point was the US lacks first class dedicated kart tracks like they have in Europe. Only thing close is New Caste or maybe Go Pro. They are great facilities, but even those aren't comparable to the best dedicated European kart tracks.
And concerning the "parking lot track" at Vegas. It's private property and "not" subject to the same rules and regulations as a public street.

@@badgumby9544 Yea the US does lack some high level facilities, but GoPro and New Castle aren’t completely falling behind in that regard, but yes, they aren’t as good. Many great European kart tracks succeed because they have a great local demand for rental and hobbyist karters. So they have more money in that regard, many of our tracks lack that local demand which does suck. We are getting the K1 circuit, which seems like it’ll be a very high class circuit.
And I don’t mean to be argumentative, but “if a parking lot open to the public, it may be private property but is still considered a highway under U.S. DOT safety regulations.” So yes technically a street. But also yes it’s not on the street, but it’s not quite on a prepped racing surface like a race track, but on road asphalt. So street circuit seems appropriate lol.
