The taxpayers of New Jersey recently built Camden High School a new building for $242 million. Since then Camden has been shipping "students" in from across the country to play basketball. There was a controversy a few years ago regarding many of these "students" and the payments of their out of state tuition. Now this. Many of NJ public schools are no longer a "common good" centered around education but have become a retail racket instead.
NJSIAA better get involved. This is disgusting, even the Camden players knew they lost, none of them challenged it. I don’t know how these referees can go to sleep at night knowing they messed up this bad.
My comment is how do you play a game with a backboard that does not light up. The NJSIAA is to blame. The Dunn center backboard lights up when time runs out. Should be a mandatory item in state playoffs. Also this is 2024 , no replay?
I remember in 2019 where a Barnegat player threw it with no problem, the buzzer rang, and then the basket was made, and it was accepted, causing them to win at the end. It was Lacey vs. Barnegat.

The first question that was asked during the mainland Atlantic City controversy was “was the officiating crew diverse?” As if that matters how good of a ref someone is! I pulled out the ole stop watch and the release of the ball seems to be very close to coinciding with that 2.6 second differentail....so .5 would see pretty obvious---love to see your "insta" link....but I can tell you with a VERY HIGH level of confidence that it wasn't a "blatant throwing" of the game---if a ref was "throwing" a game, they aren't going to wait until the buzzer to do it.

Almost never do high school level sports use instant replay. Most of the time there are no official cameras, just those of parents recording their children. Even if there are, it's unlikely all schools will have them in place, therefore you would have a system where there is instant replay at one game but not another. Basically unless the sport is broadcasted nationally on a regular basis, instant replay is highly unlikely to be used.
They do not use reply for High school sports---the logistics and cost would be extreme...still working on shot clocks and backboard lights. Some would argue that the reply is ruining college basketball so a lot of people would be reluctant to introduce it into high school. There will be mistakes yes, but for the most part the referees will get things right.

To have instant replay every HS would need to implement expensive cameras and find probably 5-10 people to run them. Most college levels don't even have instant replay due to the costs.
A guess is that the kids from Manasquan may learn to live with this unfair and wrong decision. But will the adults who pushed the decision makers towards this wrong and unfair decision, will they ever come to terms with themselves. @seansartor the logistics of replay on the high school level is still years away. As you see in this clip and in comments, there isn't even a red back light on the back board to indicate the expiration of the game clock, so replay with a centralized camera that can be reviewed, plus a monitor to watch it so the referees can review is rather difficult for high schools to implement. For now we'll live with the mistakes the refs, players and coaches make ---just like we do in real life.

You can absolutely hear the buzzer as the rebound shot goes down the hoop. Meaning, it was out of the player's hands before the game clock expired.
