I was feeling mislead by the lack of Burros in this video until the very end thank you for not clickbaiting me : ) . 9:50 That is so white and solid, it would make a great cab. You need to invest in a garden wagon!
Really nice video. Thanks for saying where you are. Most folks, of course, will never make it there....but it is kind of you to share. Some people won’t even say what state they are in! Once I learn that, I avoid them even if I will never go there. I just don’t get much pleasure from watching even if the rocks are cool...they are small of spirit and they might as well be on Mars.
Yeah that’s weird. I don’t really get the mentality of keeping locations secret. Unless you’re somewhere you’re not supposed to be, or on your own mining claim where you don’t want someone to come and plunder it, it’s all public anyway so why not share so others can enjoy it too. All the places I go are pretty well known and are not in danger of being emptied out. I’ve hiked in areas that look like Mars. 😉
Specially because in rock spots like this- most there is such an abundance even if you wanted to take them all u couldn’t- it’s all our earth! They are for all of us to enjoy!
You can use some of the chemicals used to remove rust to get a nice white frosty look on the purple agate skin. Really can look nice. That is a huge piece.
I got a batch last time I was up there and I have them soaking in muriatic acid as we speak! It’s talking off all the bentonite clay! They are looking super cool!
Recently subscribed. Love the spots you go to. I see this is a couple of years old so maybe the first videos I watched were newer. When you are scanning the ground, it would help some of us if you moved slower. That quick motion is a good way to make us motion sick!😃
Nice video! I just happened to stumble upon this after watching a video by Dan Hurd. I clicked because I saw Burro Creek in the description. Any video that talks about AZ, the state I live in and love, will get my views. Especially regarding rocks or prospecting. Really enjoyed it and that area is great! You have a new subscriber. Thanks for sharing!
I haven't been there in over 20 years, but if you go left up the canyon from the campground, there was one or two white boulders with small black rocks embedded. Impossible to miss if they're still there.
Thank you! I need to get the center part re-done. It's a rose but you can't tell anymore. The rest of it is the shape of rowing oar blades with Celtic designs inside.
At 11min the rock you pull out of the ground immediately what caught my eye was the shape. On my phone I couldn’t see much color. I tell people I go with looking for gemmy stuff to look for the shapes of mountain peeks in the ridges if the rocks. That one I knew was super glassy, but woah, when you out water on it. What amazing color. Very cool.
@@RocksForBrains i guess i already watched this, lol. glad i watched again, especially since i've been there once now and have an idea where you were, but it's always good to have a guide (: peace
What an awesome find, I've viewed only a couple other videos yours but you have earned my subscription. I will be in Prescott towards end of this month (June) for the rodeo, my father in law lives there during the summer and down lower in the winter. Plan on doing some digging for petrified stuff before Prescott. When we leave Prescott we come out south of burrow creek, maybe will run up there. Beautiful piece you found, I'm jealous!
So want to go there. Right now hunkered down in 30-40 mph wind gusts just outside of lake Havasu. Found a large rock of opalized blue chalcedony in the wash here. When winds die down will go back out.
Very cool and just found your channel, we have found purple agate there as well as apache tears among other goodies. Have you been to Saddle Mountain for fire agate?
How much further time and mile wise is the opal? Cuz I made it to that spot u we’re at (I think) I was just past the creek few more miles. Clay wall looked familiar. On my book it said that was the opal spot- but people later told me it’s pastilite. So I’m wondering if u know how much further the opal is cuz my map look close but u know it’s always seems much longer…it is truly a wonderland, looks like it was professionally landscaped huh! And best Easter egg hunt for rock rounders ever! I’m heading back up tomorrow! Hope to make it further out this time with 4wd!
Where we found the purple is the same spot I found a little bit of dendritic common opal. It’s not going to be like opals from Australia or Ethiopia. It’s just solid color.
Vancouver Island in British Columbia has exactly same mix of basalt , granite , porphyry , quartz and agate but only not purple :( its funny how some stuff can be so similar so far away great video.
@@RocksForBrains Yes they have a wide variety , lots of basalt and because its against the pacific ocean lots of the agates naturally wash out of the basalt and onto the shores . Haida Gwaii is a island near Vancouver Island that has beaches made almost entirely of agates . If you ever visit would recommend those areas also the views .
@@RocksForBrains Yes there are... I still have one from my original Collection... My father through out our 300 lb collection when we had a falling out together, and he had re married not much later... We have found plenty of Carnelion one Egg sized Basalt full sized agate 350 grams, we also have green agate, Deep Colour Moss Agate/ Banded, Blue and I have managed to find a White Jade in one of my most recent discoveries... Great finds ... a lot there ... I know the spot you started from, but would you mind sharing 'directions' to the second location? Me and my wife would luv to check it out - Thanks
Sure, it's pretty easy to get to going the way we came out. It's Hwy 93 to Burro Creek Crossing Road, go about 8 miles then there are two short pullouts before the Burro Creek Crossing Campground. 4x4 is recommended. Have fun :)
@RocksForBrains thanks, I'm out now. I'm heading back to quartzsite for the Gem show. It's going to rain a lot more at burro creek. I'm glad I got out today.
Awesome vid, thanks!! was that burro creek road heading toward bagdad mine area? I was always interested if the road was really rough or not.....your video showed me, thanks! If I may, It may not be possible but, It would be awesome if your downloaded vids greater than 360p. 360p is a bit fuzzy, and hard to see the quality and detail of the rocks you are looking at.
We were originally headed in from the southern side of Bagdad mine but decided not to go further and ended up by six mile crossing then went out the other way. As for the video quality. Unfortunately my current internet connection is very poor. It took 16 hours to upload this one. I just choose 'high' quality and I guess that means 360 max. Some day I'll be closer to a town and have better connection. Sorry. :/
We did though! We found one large piece of purple pastelite which is what people call purple agate, though it’s technically a Jasper. Did you see that one in the video?
Oh there’s some water year round but where we were walking is covered during flooding events. I think the source is mostly snow melt in the winter and rain in the summer but there are shallow aquifers and springs that feed connecting rivers in the watershed.

a grocery reusable grocery bag instead of a red heavy bucket is much easier to hike w/ on a trail!
True, but much less durable over time. Especially when you're putting heavy rocks in it.

You need to check out Topaz mt.,Utah. More then 30 gems, minerals. Is a volcano comprised of Rhyolite.
