I will have pictures off the Volvo too when I come across them I will post them.
As I said I have been doing this for 20 years and have photographed most Road Trains coming into Darwin over that time.
Rob was driving the Volvo also
Route: Brisbane-Darwin-Brisbane
Aprox 3,400km one way.
Done weekly
And he still has enough fuel to another 1,700km without refilling.
This video shows you how the Mack Quad Road Train fills all it’s Fuel tanks, on the truck and 2 under the main trailers, called belly tanks for topping up Mack fuel tanks when required.

Very interesting and cumbersome to fill the tanks. When there were still tours to Saudi Arabia here in Europe, the trucks had a 1500 liter tank on one trailer. It took 15 minutes to fill up.
Best looking Mack around.
Excellent VIDEO!!. Congratulations for video and thanks. Excellent machine THE MACK TRUCK!!. No need more words. MACK is an American classic truck. Legendary. It's so hard job to refuel and to drive a BIG ROAD TRAIN!!. Thank you for this video!!. I am Charly from Argentina. South América.
That blue truck was just absolutely AWESOME !!..
Didn't get this attention when I used to do it.....still it wasn't about fueling and posing for the camera back then....still had to hook up trailers and unload/load...thought nothing of it.
Это произведение искусства среди грузов автомобильного мира.
Thats a whole lot of work filling up.. I had no clue these roadtrains have tanks under the trailers. Beautiful Mack!
That’s one good looking Mack Damm Sweet ..Must take lots of time to keep her shiny ,Still it’s worth the time I been to Mack in Brissy I watched our truck being built 👍👍💪💪🚛🚛🦘🦘❤️❤️🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
The Lad knows what he is doing...Steady and keeps The Kit in good shape.Good manouvering mate....!!!!!!!.Keep Er Lit !!!! Douglas Vick UK...Old Skool..!!!
He certainly does, he really looks after it and didn’t mistreat it at all, no wonder the boss gave him the lates and nicest Mack 100th edition to drive and look after.

Bloody beautiful truck 🚚 just awesome 👌 👏 👍
Beautiful!!!!
Gotta love Aussie Macks. Great looking trucks.
Looks good mate
Biggest I have ever drove was White Freight-liner with a v-12 Detroit and 13 speed trans. Hauling 2- 20 ft containers in a train configuration.
It would be something to get behind that v-8 Mack with over 600 horse power hauling those 4 trailers.
Wow well done
Just beautiful.! 🥰
Great painting 👍
That is a awesome looking truck
As well being functional it is also a showpiece.
Magnificent 👍❤️ From the US
Wow very nice truck train..

And that is one awesome airplane

Absolute monster. Magnificent. Dont get any dust on it.
Those F-35's are so stealthy that you dont really notice them.
Parabéns 👏 pelo Cinegrafista filmou até o Avião de caça 👏
Nice 👍 rig kick ass
IMPRESSIVE VERY BEAUTIFUL OUR!!!🇧🇷🇧🇷

1,000ltrs on Mack, 800ltrs on trailers-Most of the details are in the description…have a read…cheers
Beautiful truck, it would be nice if you had enough room to just pull through and fuel up without all the dropping and hooking.
Super
The outback will slap the shine right off that bulldog.
MUITO BACANA!!!
I would like to see more trucks and trailers exported to the USA. I wish the B-Trains 2 trailer max was on a national look evel here too. Maybe one day.
Richard don't you folks in the USA haul 2 53 foot trailers with tandem dolly? they do here where I live in Canada.
@@canvids1 53 footer's would be off limits. I'm thinking of twin 35's on 9 axles with speed restrictions and signs.
@@richardcolemanjr3749 On the turnpike in Ohio they're allowed dual 53 footers with tandem dollies. I think if they want to leave the turnpike someone else has to come and grab the other trailer and the truck just leaves with the single trailer and dolly.
@@alexphillips4325 That's also allowed in the Northeast on I-87 & I-90 the combined NY Thruway Mass pike systems. In the case of twin 53s on NY Thruway a Boston to Philly trailer NJ TAA 10A TZZ 99Z plate PA PT Perm Trailer plate might be combined with a Boston to Buffalo NY 53ft then split at Albany, NY or I-90 Exit B1.
I sure love the Volvo I shift . Will never drive a RR ever again,, great video,, cheers
Thanks for the compliment, it means a lot as I suffer from bipolar depression and it takes a lot to get out of my place and go do photos and videos, but I love it once there.
As I was brought up with my dad owning all models of Macks since the 60s until early 90’s
Good too hear you like the Volvo I shift, as so many people are giving bad comments about the Volvo gear.
@@itruckaus9588 Sorry to hear about your situation. Drove all types over there in Oz for many years, never had an auto until I started driving them here in NZ. Probly not manly enough for real truckers😁. Keep up the great work, cheers
Super Track
Too bad mack doesn't make these like that in the states. Good looking rig
Australian designed & made Mack for our conditions and Australian made trailers.
Export from USA? Awd and diff locks available?
@@Atila643 Mack was started in the US in 1900, and in the year 2000 was bought by Volvo Sweden. China bought 100% of the Volvo car manufacturing and owns a around 10% of Volvo trucks. When China owns a company the quality goes to nothing. At least they have factories in Australia and the US still making Mack trucks. If China ever owns 100% of Mack trucks, we'll see an end to Mack Trucks.
Not sure i could shift with my left hand
@@Atila643 nope made in Australia
Are those flip flops also made in Australia?
Keren mobil mu
VERY BEAUTIFUL! CONGRATULATIONS !!! TWO BEDS??? 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
It seems to this Yankee non-trucker that these Aussie truck stops servicing the road trains could do well to have small mobile fuel trucks, much like airports use, to fill up the multiple fuel tanks on a road train. All the dis-connecting, shuffling, and re-connecting seems a very cumbersome system. I would think many truckers wouldn't mind paying a little extra for the convenience.
Oh yeah. Nice truck.
He probably just hadn't coupled up yet. Normally you'd be all hooked up and drive through with the full set.
This is powerful angeneary truck
Beautiful truck
Yes it is, a real gem, but I am biased as was raised with my father owning all the models of Macks from the 60s to the early 90s

please tell me why is it many times pulls into the gas station and raceplay trailers? cool MACK! good job!

Nice to meet you good friend, I'm cheering for you, I'll come again,,~👍🌺>^,^*e
Almost time for a log book break after that lot.
😂 yes I guess so
" Depot " work . What Log Book .🤣
Massive.!! How much total fuel does this truck carry with its tanks and those of the trailers?
Ive never seen 4 breathers like that before other than diff breathers plumbed up a gantry or sleeper.
Surely there is a local mobile refuelling company that could have topped up the trailer tanks...it would save a lot of time.
Indeed. Like on some airports, refuelling planes. Total overkill dis/connecting dolly and trailers.
Shocked and amazed I knew it wasn’t us, fokin awesome mate✌🏽
Thanks heaps for the compliment, means a lot
So whats the Tare of this beast and GVM and GCM?
Need to stop moving the camera about so its all in focus .
So how much fuel altogether and what was the " damage" for fuel bill??
iTruck = 👍
So what’s the cost for delivery for one of these to this standard pls?
Thanks for sharing
Paul
WOW does this super dog that’s what we call Mack superliner in the states has 4 air intakes holy shit
Yes, the 2 air intakes behind the sleeper
1 is for the transmission and 1 is for the diff too keep them cool, as he has to cross half off top of Australia in the remote desert conditions, so can get very hot upto 40 degrees In dry season/summer
I have a question I come from germany and love trucks especially road trains, how many tanks has such a road train and what is the tank capacity
Charlie has answered that in his comment below, he says 1,000 litres in the truck tanks and 800 litres in the 2 under belly tanks under the 2 complete trailers (400 litres each) .
This mack has 4 Fuel Tanks, maybe 5, I don’t know what the short one is on the passenger side (left side).
But they only have 2 on the drivers side (right side) as there is a exhaust cover in the middle of them.
I don’t know why they have done this, as they use to have 6 fuel tanks on the truck for the long distance.
Hope this helps, and good to hear from you in germany.
I think it is in the details section, he can travel back to Sydney New South Wales 3,900km’s away one way trip without refueling and he still has enough fuel to do another 1,700km’s.
@@itruckaus9588 . The small tank is probably Ad blue. A solution that gets filled separately for exhaust emissions, cheers
@@itruckaus9588 thank you for the answer that is impressive with us the maximum allowed capacity is 1600 LIter I think , have a nice day
@@itruckaus9588 the small one is for reducing emissions. After passing through the Diesel Particle Filter the filtered exhaust gasses need after-treatment with a chemical called Ureum/AdBlue, which after injection into the exhaust eliminates practically al other toxic fumes.
he drives this thing in thongs (flip flops) thats gotta be a skill in itself.
Why do you need to fill up the courtain trailer?
Still the greatest name in trucks.1000 litre front and 800 litre rear tanks.
685 hp in standard twin intakes, problably more power with the 2 extra intakes up top.
Thanks for the information, I will add it too the heading now,
Cheer’s 😊
The extra twin intakes are for the gearbox to keep cool, I think the owner said?
So is that 400 litres in each rear trailer under belly tank?
Making the 800 litres?
As I have always wondered how much they carried.
Looks like the prime mover has 2 x 800 litre tanks on the right, and 1 x 800 and a 1000 litre on the left side. Underbelly tanks vary in size up to 25000 litres, but going by the time he took to fill them and no visible tanks on the trailers or bash plates they likely be standard tanks
Неудобные узкие двери не открывающиеся полностью.
13 Distribution Dr, Wishart NT 0822 = This BP Truckstop Australia
The intake behind the cab is for diff and or transmission cooling not engine air
Thanks for the clarification, I thought 1 was for the diff as he said, but I couldn’t remember for sure when they were asking.
Cheers
And yes 1 is for the transmission
👍👍👍👍👍
Tooooop
Volvo engine! MACK, how dare they! Should have put in a CAT.
The only thing I see wrong with this truck is that the steering wheel is on the wrong side. Other than that, it’s perfect!
You weren't looking close enough, it's actually on the right side.
How big is the compressor to air up that bad boy. Got brakes for days. I drove a Mi. Gravel train before retiring. Hard enough backing two trailers to dump. What do those weigh?? My gosh that’s a lot of tires whining when he made that turn. Does he not have drops or push or push axles?? That’s cool.
Couldn’t trailers be filled whilst all connected up?
Why would you fuel up with so much extra? Thats alot of fuel being spent to move fuel when there is fuel at the other end of the haul.
What does it have for engine and what is it hauling?
Who let the Dog Out
Nice flip flops big rig Billy! You on holidays ol' son?
I was amazed when I started photographing the Road Trains 20 years ago as too how they all wear flip flops 😂
But I suppose if you are spending 2-5 days driving interstate you need to be comfortable.
As I grew up with my father wearing the proper work boots driving his Mack Road Trains from the 60s to the early 90s
But I guess thats because he operated a side tipper Road Train and I would wear shoes as well when working with him growing up.
As I suppose they definitely need them in the dirt and mud and up on the tippers evening out the load.
I will have to see what the current Road Train drivers wear, as I think they would wear boots for the same reasons and the trucks going onto the strict construction sites also
Why can’t you just continue to pull forward till all tanks are filled?
That rig would have to be close 1.5mil with all the bells and whisles
Which company is it? Are there any models available for sale of this truck?
Hi ,how far can he get with his Dieseltank?
Awesome Truck. Awesome Driver Skills. I'd be worried about leaving that much fuel behind overnight. I'd also like to know the total cost of that refuel :-)
Just a guess, 1000 litres each side of the cab, another 1000 litres on both trailers... so 4000 litres total.
At $2.00 per litre, current east coast diesel price, that is about $8,000 a fill.
🤩🤩🤩🤩
Американские авто похожи на пакистанские и индийские, в украшательстве.
Powered by steam these vehicles would be using high flashpoint fuel instead of premium diesel, engines half the cost and less maintenance.
How come it has four breathers
Thats one Awsome lookin Truck Dont have the sound the EZ 427 or the EZ 460 hard it would be said if its Volvo if so No more be said
Why didnt he just pull forward to line up the 4th trailer with the pump hose to fill that one up after he filled the second trailer tank up. Probably save him hour or so and ton of time driving and effort. Just curious because it seems like a lot of wasted time.
thats what im thinking too
Reset times on pumps, or the card/account used to pay for said fuel..
Probably some government regulation. Don’t make sense, does it?
Because an ABA with the last trailer on the pump blocks the driveway into the servo.
exactly….no wonder i’m still waiting on stuff i ordered months ago…it’s not Covid…its because of this guy..if i want something by Christmas this year better order it now
