    Before putting the covers you should start the engine and check for any leaks.

    I just did a very similar one of these a few weeks ago. It was a 2006 CLS55 AMG. OIl change is pretty easy. All I can say is don't even breathe on that small coolant hose line from just below the oil filter to the overflow bottle. I just touched it and it snapped off and coolant went everywhere. When I went to remove it from the coolant bottle to go find a replacement the coolant bottle disintegrated. Went from a simple oil change to a broken down vehicle that I didn't have ready to go for my customer until the next day. Had to replace the bottle and the small line. Euro junk.

    I alway pull the filter first so that oil runs down into the crankcase out of the filter housing before I drain it

    You ran it for less than a minute & it didn’t give it time to pressure up. How can you tell if there’s any leaks if both covers are on?
    Personally, I do it on a ramp & remove the oil filler cap to allow the oil to drain more efficiently.
    As the oil is draining, I change the filter because there is residual dirty oil within the housing that I want drained out.
    After I’m finished - filter in, drain plug tightened & oil added, I start the car, let it run for a few minutes & check for leaks as it’s running. If none, I replace the covers.
    Also, I replace the drain plug washer each time.

      Unless you mess something up you should not have oil leak after oil change. If you change oil for years you just know if you will have a leak or not

    Where do you get the oil filter and o- rings? Can you buy it from Auto Zone/Advance Auto Parts or do you have to get it from the Mercedes dealership?

    • @williamvladdy7359
      @williamvladdy7359 Před 2 lety +1

      Advanced and autozone normally would carry an aftermarket product and they work fine
