Newspaper is great for windows, glass surfaces, mirrors. Unfortunately, these days I'm reading the newspapers online, which is much less effective for glass cleaning.
😂😂
😂😊
It’s crazy, my in laws live about 20 miles from their closest town. They have always taken the paper. Well, they stopped delivering it, if they want to continue the subscription it will be $83 a month. No more cost effective news and brain exercises for my 80+ year old mother and father in law. They could use the computer, but since retirement they sit together at the kitchen table, dad reads the paper and mom does the cross word.
Actually with the cold set ink that most newspapers use today newspapers are not as effective at cleaning glass as years ago.
Newspaper on the inside of car windows after a long winter is just the ticket!
Tip clean one side horizontal and the other vertical so when you see the streaks you know which side to go back to.
Great tip. Thanks
Just in time for the inside. I just cleaned the outside with windex and newspaper. The newspaper worked way better than paper towels or rags.
You are right ! It is not a wise tale works great but I do prefer the micro fiber towel over them all.
Use white vinegar mixed with water wipe and go over it with the newspaper. This is what my grandmother cleaned windows with for 2 x a year. Looked like you could climb through the window they where so clear.
@@stephaniekeller4449 Yepppp. Exactly
Wrong .! newspaper works much better than micro fiber and last much longer
Vinegar & newspaper works Gr8 on hot hard water spots ...curious how HP compares. Coffee filters and packing paper are good newspaper dupes I read,
thx 4 sharing will try 👍
Great idea! And YES I’ve used newspaper to clean mirrors & windows. Worked like a charm.
where is everybody getting this wonderful newspaper that doesn't smear ink all over everything?
Newspapers might be a good idea but be careful when you're using the politics section things can get a little bit smeared
@@geriroush8004 Use newspapers that are a few weeks old. The newsprint will have dried sufficiently to prevent inky smears.
I used to use 8 oz of warm water, 2 capfuls of white vinegar and 1-2 drops of dishwashing soap (to help with any tough grime), and my windows and mirrors would look factory-new. Gonna try this method next time.
Wipe in one direction for the inside and the other on the outside so you can tell which side the streaks are on.
This is unbelievable, I can not believe how great this is. Both my truck and car windows are completely streak free. I am so glad I decided to watch your
video. Been frustrated for years with store bought glass cleaner and vinegar and water still leaving streaks. Newspaper does work as mentioned but this is by far one of the best things I've learned from you tube. I've cleaned my reading glasses, sun glasses, mirror's and porcelain cooktop and they all look brand new and streak free.
Thanks so much
Great tip, thanks! I love hydrogen peroxide. It removes blood very well too!!
I have news paper dipped in plain water my friend since my teen years to clean glass and mirrors around the house. It works great!
Newspapers work great! At least, they used to back before newspapers started using colored ink. When they began to print in 4 color format, they not only changed inks, they also changed paper formulation. Old style newsprint paper can still be found, its sold as packing paper.
One of the reasons they used newspapers is that it was repellant against flies. A shot of vinegar in the water makes windows shiny too. Please don't ever use the seemingly greatest oven cleaning agent, dishwasher cubes, you will be very sorry about it and don't use it in the toilet it doesn't clean the bowl. It makes a laterally brilliant mess. I watch all these cleaning tips for all kinds of places world the house, but, I basically just use vinegar and baking soda everything shines great afterwards. Hydrogen peroxide is not exactly a great biological product, I wouldn't even venture into buying it. Please remember unless you are wearing a face mask during all these cleaning adventures, you are inhaling toxic chemicals which can lead to allergic reactions. Finally cleaning is not easy if you are not constantly taking care of your things. Wiping the oven after baking or cooking takes a couple of minutes and save long cleaning procedures later. I think everyone cleaning had their own special way of getting jobs around the house done so I myself prefer to stick with biodegradable cleaning methods.
my mother used news paper instead of cloth. it worked great.
@@audamoser9358 I bet she also used vinegar with a drop of soap, too
@@s.leeyork3848 she may have , I don't remember what she used.
@@mquinn135 my mother used newspaper because, it left the windows strick free.
Yes, I used newspaper & was shocked at how well it cleaned my windows! (I didn’t have any paper towels & didn’t want to have to drive to the store)
My mom used newspaper on my dad's car way back in the 60's, way bwefore paper towels. Works great and shines.
I used to go to the newspaper where they made it and would get the end parts of the roll, plenty there still. We used it for our antique story for wrapping purchases, and ALSO cleaned the floor to ceiling picture windows. Best thing I’ve ever used for windows!
Newspaper and windex works great! I use it on my windshield inside and out. True wives tale.
I worked with glass for 45 years. newspaper is THE BEST thing that you can use to clean glass!
That was before white plastic..channels and casing..the black ink..smears I find.
Yes newspaper works very well. Coffee filters work well too.
Oh yes! My mother taught me to use newspaper for cleaning glass. It certainly works!
I use hydrogen peroxide and magic erasers.. then a squeegee! Perfectly clean windows.
Great ideas for cleaning cheaply and very well!
Thank you! 😊
I use newspaper and love it
Good hint. I only have one suggestion. The smudges and results would have been clearer if you placed something dark behind it to block out the glare.
Daaang.
Newspaper definitely works too. Great video and love your channel
I've used newspapers for years. It does a great job although corners are a challenge whatever you use. White vinegar was always an old trick used on windows. I've never tried the hydrogen peroxide but will give it a shot!
Newspaper works perfectly and I have used it for decades to clean windows. It's also a great way to recycle yesterday's news!
Can’t wait to try it on the car windows! Thanks!
Another trick which you can perform after you cleaned your Windows is to take a drop of dishwash liquid and apply it to a cloth and rub it vigorously on the dry glass window until it makes a shinny clear appearance which is water resistant and prevent streaks.
Try it. As the old cigarette ad used to say, "You'll be so glad you did. " 👊👍
I miss getting the sunday paper if only for the fact it was the best window cleaner
HP also gets dried pet poop up, or dried food in carpet. No scrubbing required. Blessings
Thank you! My fav glasses are getting a haze, and nothing worked. Gonna use peroxide!
This is awesome.. thank you sooooo much…
People the fact is that the squeegee is not only the most effective and perfect way to wash glass but it is way faster and you will never go back to pushing dirt around and around on a piece of glass you will feel ridiculous once you realize how efficient the tool is I've been cleaning windows for 50 years and the one thing that I've learned is that 99% of the time all you need is water and a good squeegee and what I've learned is that after every time you pull your squeegee across the glass if you wipe the squeegee off you will have even better results the other secret is is to never touch any of the glass besides the tops bottoms and edges just wipe the surfaces and you will have a perfectly clean piece of glass maybe start practicing on a mirror
THANK YOU, GREAT HACK
Very good tip. Thank you! It does have many uses.
Rubbing alcohol will remove regular marker, crayon and ink! You can use your mirrors like dry erase boards. Saved me🤗
I use rubbing alcohol for markers and ink too. Works very well.
I love cleaning with hydrogen peroxide it is the best!!!! 😊
Newspaper was used back in my day, because there weren't any microfiber towels. AND yes it works especially on mirrors. 67 in Texas.
Thanks
A good micro fiber cloth and 4 litres warm water mixed with two capfuls of Avon bubble bath. No rinsing or drying required. No spots and no streaks.
Newspaper works great on windows.
Andrea - you definitely brew a great cup of coffee. Thanks for this window cleaning tip.
I use vinegar and a newspaper, because my mom use vinegar and a newspaper and she used it because her mom did... I always like how clean and easy it make the job... so much better then paper towels and Windex. and cheaper. I will be trying your hydrogen peroxide idea... thanks for showing all the tricks you know... love to watch them and try them out.
I'm heading to my shower's sliding doors right now!
I pour it around my garden plants. Kills mold and brings oxygen to the roots.
Great idea.
Newspaper and white vinegar are TOPS for windows. Newspaper now is not as good, because they changed their ink. They used so much of the ink that their newspaper would leave the reader's hands black! They've gotten that problem under control, and newspaper is great - you just have to check to make sure it hasn't been altered. I use hydrogen peroxide for a multitude of things like: squirting some on my toothbrush after every use. I use baking soda and peroxide, on gentle speed, to wash my sweaters and other clothing that requires extra care.
i live in a highrise on the tenth floor. Unfortionatly, I can not reach outside to clean my windows. Any ideas on how to fix this problem with as little cost as possible? Love the peroxide idea! Will try today!
Great tip... Thank You very much.
You're welcome!
Hydrogen Peroxide is my friend!!! Thanks Andrea 😊 Joan Bates ❤
Mr clean Magic erasures, also.. (window-door industry contractor here)
Ive used Hydrogen peroxide for windows, works great.
Thank you! My 3 year old Granddaughter rubbed chapstick all over my glass door and I’ve cleaned it multiple times and the streaks remain. I’ll be trying this today!
Newspaper is great!
Yes, from an old old wife, newspaper does work. The problem is, who has a newspaper anymore.?
Not able to see the smears on before....but I do know the white haze on my glasses. I gave to wash my glasses every day..sometimes a couple times a day. I'm going to try hydrogen peroxide.
Vinegar and water and one drop of dawn dish soap. Put them on your windows and use the newspaper to clean. Absolutely streak free beautiful shine amazing
Newspaper is thee best. It'll have you running through that glass thinking that the door is open. I've smacked my head a time or two when my grandmother used to clean with it 🤣
My Mom used We used news paper to wash windows….works!!!
I cleaned for a 4 building apartment complex- and all the fronts were glass and the boss was a sticler for keeping them completely clean.. I used simple few drops of DAWN in water- spray bottle - trick is to spray LIGHTLY and evenly-- and YES- I used newspaper that I got from the recycle bin.. and always had glass so clear folks did run into my doors a couple times.. it's Cheap (removes all grease, chemicals, etc.) and WORKS.. better than anything fancy. NEVER had an issue of newspaper leaving anyfibers or anything behind. IF someone else cleaned them with somethign else- sometimes I'd have to do it TWICE to remove residue from where they'd used OTHER products-- but once I get it- I'd do one quick run every day with squeegie and news paper... and done!!
My granny told me 45 yrs ago to use newspaper and window cleaner on my windows
It also removes stain or blood from carpet. Used in cleaning apartments. 🙂👍
My friends use newspaper worked great.
I've been cleaning my windows with newspaper and potatoes for years. A trick my mum showed me when I was young.
How do you clean a window with potatoes? I’ve never heard of that one!
@@susanmei9980 cut a potato in half and rub it on then immediately use a scrunched up newspaper and circular motion wipe off.
@@samipastel7560 thank you for explaining. I would have thought the starch would make a smeary mess, tho.
News paper works very well. Trick is you only use the paper that's back and white. No color adds or cartoons etc. Yw!
Newspaper on widows has been a staple for me!
Coffee filters work great
I love hydrogen peroxide.. good to use for so many things . For windows, mirrors I often use 1/2 water, 1/2 alcohol. To me the secret is using a microfiber cloth especially the ones especially for glass!
Is it safe for the shatterproof glass or plastic type glass storm doors ??
The suggestion that I was given re: cleaning glass and/or mirrors was to utilize coffee filters. Same principle: lint-free, no smearing.
Tried the coffee filter idea you have. Works great. Cheaper than paper towels
Newspaper works very well
I worked for Molly Maid we used cloth baby diapers & coffee filters on the windows
Newspapers work great!!
Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Use coffee filters - no lint.
Dollartree has them at 150 filters for $1.25.
Newspaper was all we had before microfiber cloths. It did the job well
Have you tried the newspaper method? My dad used Bon ami. Brilliant windows :)
Coffee filters are good for glass and windows
Newspaper and vinegar work great. The trick is to crumple the newspaper, open it, recrumple. Do this a few times.
Can you non dilute it to spray on your mattress?
I use Nano towels, all you need is water. They're amazing to clean anything
Help! I have a dot in my sliding door glass. How do I remove that dot?
Vinegar will give you a streak free window / mirror cleaner. Much cheaper than peroxide now. Vinegar has many uses as well.
Newspaper works great.
Use to use newspaper all the time, worked great, now I use microfiber cloths
Vinegar is good too
Will this working windows that have been sitting for years?
I’m a fan of using newspaper for glass and mirrors but we don’t buy it anymore, so I’ve been using Shop Towels.
I'd love to know how she keeps the tracks of the door so clean.
I bought silly putty to clean tracks of my windows, for the annoying corners and edges. First I dry-wipe as much dirt as i can, then i water spray the remainder.
Hydrogen peroxide
OCD!
@@auxiliary4023 LOL! yes I agree!
@@Miracx3 Any suggestions on how to clean shower door tracks?
Newspapers work great. And I clean my glasses with rubbing alcohol, though I haven't tried it on windows.
My mother used to use newspaper and i use newsprint,,,,it dont work as well as 40 years ago becouse the ink isnt the same ink,,i use it still couse it works better and cheaper than paper towels...but im gonna try peroxide and lets see
Thanks for sharing this great tip. I need to try this on my eyeglasses 👓. Thanks again and have a blessed weekend love ❤️🌹🌹❤️
Do you know what works terrifically for eye glasses… spray on diluted dish soap ( mostly water with 1-2 pumps of dish soap) in a spray bottle . The last time I got new glasses I was advised to do this. Works great and saves money
@@theresabrown1272
Thank you so much for the tip. I'll be sure to try it. I appreciate you love ❤️
Glasses are no longer made of glass. Some fancy smanshy polyurethane (sp) stuff. 😁
@@theresabrown1272
Does it affect the UV coating on prescription lenses?
Yeah.... I'd be afraid to use this on my glasses ! My lens cost me $600 !!! Plus I have the coating and the color changing for the sun . I'd be afraid it would mess all this up
Works awesome on smokers windows
..
Newspaper is definitely the best way to go!!!
Will the peroxide help with hard water stains?
Would like to use newspaper, but my area no longer is printing a newspaper and only “E versions” are available. So sad in this crazy world.
Newspapers work great
My mother used to clean new homes and always used Newspapers to wipe the windows down and they would look as if the window was missing
lol
It's not so much that you're a cleaning genius, which you are, but that you share and share and share! Thank you so much...love your channel 😊❤
PS...my mum always used newspaper and her windows were spotless! I never understood that one but it works!
J
You are so welcome!
@@AndreaJean Is it true that once you open your peroxide, it starts losing potency? I distinctly remember reading that somewhere.
Newspaper 📰 workers very well
It will also remove smoke residue.
it was the ink in the newspapers, that was the different years ago! Now the print material is different.
I love newspaper
Newspaper works great, problem is not too many of them around these days.
