  • Someone asked for a video showing how to remove or swap the battery on Swift RL, so here it is.
    You do have to press quite hard when tilting torch up to click out of the groove, so I would suggest not doing this when torch is cold as plastic might be more brittle, I did this in normal indoor temperature and it was fine.

    Extremely difficult battery to remove. Your video and demonstration made it so easy to understand. Thank you!

    Just dropping a thank you comment. I just received mine with a spare battery and tried to change it immediately, of course I didn't want to break it so I instantly googled how to do that and arrived here. So thank you :)

    This is a useful video. I had a Swift RL, then I sold it, then I bought another one (because it is one of the better headlamps out there). I've got a spare battery on order, so now I know how to swap it out. Although I couldn't quite tell in your video, the USB cable plugs into the battery (not the headlamp) so the spare can be re-charged separately.

      Hi Edward glad its useful, I hadn't noticed but yes I just removed battery and plugged in USB lead and red LED shows it charges so you can charge separately. I do find I use the RL a lot as my general headtorch as the reactive feature works so well, I do wish it was one touch switch off though, as that bugs me every time (especially when the Zipka is much cheaper and has one push switch off!).

    Thanks very much for this as the package insert was unclear and it is easy to shred the side knobs if done incorrectly.

    Thanks for this. I dropped my headlamp and the light component popped all the way off its housing. Is there a trick to getting the light back into the white posts on the housing? other than brute force?

    • @jamesb72
      @jamesb72  Před 3 lety

      Just looking at the torch (connected) looks like the white pegs flare out, so I think you'd have to separate the front of case to get back in, as doesn't look like they will just pop back in to me, sorry.

    • @75dlow
      @75dlow Před 2 lety

      Had the same issue, used this video to get battery off, then pushed the white pegs down to make space to slide the cradle back into the slot, good luck bud

      @mariuszp2318 Před 2 lety

      It is possible to put front part back on rotary without separating front case.
      Just try without battery, wiggle and press under angle, one side at time.
      I just successfully completed this :)

    Hello, is it possible to obtain an AA battery case since the rechargeable battery pops out? On long trips, rechargeable batteries are a pain.

      900 lumens of power cannot be delivered by conventional batteries. Only a lithium battery can do that. The lamp is bigger
      level off. It is recommended to purchase a spare battery.

      I haven't but it looks like just removing plastic clips, I would take a few pics before just to help getting the ends threaded back correctly, also believe there is a pdf on Petzl website showing strap fitting.

      Its not clear how easily you'd get the headband clips back in place, I can only find the pdf instructions here www.petzl.com/sfc/servlet.shepherd/version/download/0685I000000i2UGQAY

      @@jamesb72 Thanks. I just played around with it using your instructions and was able to get the clip out. It wasn't hard to get back in. I didn't unweave the whole thing. I feel like remaking the loops will be complicated when I take it apart to wash it.

    have you maybe found out how to remove the strap? i’ve just spent an hour googling this because i want to wash mine (stinks like sweat) and nobody seems to have done it… 😩 they sell replacement straps and yet no information on how to actually remove it 🤷‍♂️

      @@jamesb72 tried there but haven’t found anything.. it’s not that simple to get it off first time you’re doing it, but then again - i think it’s enough to wash the strap once a year, so…
      anyways, both straps have plastic ends and each end fits into those plastic buckles that tighten or loosen the strap. the trick is to position those ends vertically in opposition to plastic buckles and then release them that way. after that everything’s really simple, you just follow holes that come next. i took a photo of everything while it was still unseparated so i can be sure what goes where afterwards 🤣 now it’s pretty easy after i’ve done it, but let’s remember i was pretty lost 6 hours ago while typing that first message up there 😄😄
