    Oh man, that's a great tip around the 1:11:00 mark ... it really helped me with one of my issues doing hair. My hair strands always lacked that crisp look, never thought about using zmodeler to lower the poly count and cleaning up the edges with creases. Thank you! Very informative tutorial!

    50:55 The standard brush preserves texture underneath it. Super useful for realistic sculpts, pretty much impossible not to use for lips and eyelids imo

    Question, what's your usual schedule for sculpting? I'm starting to face issues (pains in wrists and forearms after short periods like an hour) and I've tried different things like getting a desk arm for my tablet, placing lumbar support in my chair, taking multiple days where I don't sculpt... Do you have any tips that you use for reducing and/or preventing pains in your wrists and forearms as much as possible?

    All these flyaways, all the detail, is all of this shown here still a good workflow for game-ready hair? I’ve gone through a lot of videos/tutorials for stylised hair where they go all-out with hair brushes, making hundreds of individual strands, but these all seem to be purely for beauty shots? How would you use this workflow shown here for an actual game character? Sorry if it’s a stupid question. 😞

    The hair that stole the show was your Goatee beard.

    I know you have an eyes tutorial, but do you think you'll ever do a tutorial on how to approach different types of eyes? For example, cat eyes or eyes that aren't circular in proportion?

      Great question! I wasn’t planning on it but I just did something very similar on my ZBrush 2020 beta creature. Check it out on my insta. I painted it by hand just like in my eye painting video. But I used masking and scaling to make the eye into a different shape. I’m sure it’s something I could show off in a future stream!

    Awesome work 👏 Do you remember what music or playlist you had playing in the background. Looking for some good tunes for sculpting and what not.

    i have a question: you used the tubes tool over another tool ( in this case a sphere you placed in the middle of the model). after you placed your first tube for hair how did you remove the sphere?

    This looks really cool! this is kind of rare, most westeners hate anime portfolio what's more teach them? if only the east pays as much, I wouldn't have to put up with western clients.

    I’m not sure how often you do viewer suggestions, if at all, but after watching a few of your videos and seeing how incredibly well you can transform 2D to 3D I had an idea that could make for an interesting video.
    Would you consider trying to sculpt something from one of Junji Ito’s novels? All of his work is so visually striking, and it’s always interesting to see people translate it into other mediums.

    You might like to use blender for sculpting hair. The benzier curve feature gives you great control over the hair both in posing, resizing and making changes to the details . I like zbrush but the fact that in blender that you can repose hair without having to redraw it with the curve tube brush or having to struggle with manipulating it makes blender great for dealing with hair. You should try blender sometime. It might help with some things that zbrush can't do or well yet. Not to mention that you can give it a bit of animation to add more character to it. Zbrush is definitely ahead in sculpting over blender but blender does have some great things as well.

    • @b1938dc
      @b1938dc Před 4 lety +1

      From what I saw in this video, using blender for the hair would save you a lot of time. I am not just saying that. A lot of the pinching and manipulating can be done super fast in blender. I started with zbrush. Using both Blender and zbrush in your workflow would probably be ideal.

    • @Follygon
      @Follygon  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks! I am very slow at sculpting when I am talking and trying to teach at the same time. It would take me probably 10% of the time to do this given not streaming. I do however enjoy Blender for rendering.

      @@Follygon you are quick. It is kind of the same as my work flow with zbrush. It is just hair modeling in blender is faster when using blender

    How do you get the pull string effect with your brush? Do you use an external plugin or is it an option within Zbrush?

  • @anna-booklove

    First of all keep up the great work! Second I wonder how you have control of the size of your models like when your working in zbrush to convert it in a engine or something (sorry for my bad english I‘m german) xD
