      Hi thanks for the praise my mother really appreciates it. However as skilled as she is she has only made these as a favour for us getting started but perhaps in the future.

    Window in the sliding side door on Vans. This is there for increased view angle. Very useful when a road connects to another at an angle. Can't remember seeing any Berlingo Vans after 2003 models without it here in Norway. And VW Caddies very often got it installed at the importer here.(Glued on onto the outside, so not as elegant... )
    Big tip; Berlingo Vans have the same bottom plates as the MultiSpace, so under the floor, just behind the wall that separates the cargo area from the cabin, there's a large cavity(rear seat passenger footwell on the MultiSpace), more than enough to fit a decent battery, or a diesel-based cabin heater...
    Is this a Long Wheelbase model?
    My B9(Van, Electric ) definitely doesn't have the length for a bed where I can lie down without something or other bending.

    • @afterhoursautomotive
      @afterhoursautomotive  Před 3 měsíci

      This isn't the long wheel base but still very comfortable depending on how tall you are. Thanks for the tip too

      @@afterhoursautomotive Well, I'm 1m85 so I doubt I would fit unless I use a diagonal.

    This looks lovely but access to the under bed storage would be good. I hinged my slats and put a door at the barndoor end. Just an observation, the overall finish is brilliant. it just seems such a waste of storage.

      Hi Mandi, thanks for the nice comments and great suggestion for under the bed storage we will definitely be trying to use something like that in our next build. 🙌

    Great job ! I wonder how have you done with the security belt for the middle seat ? I'm strugling with that !

    • @afterhoursautomotive
      @afterhoursautomotive  Před 3 měsíci

      We got a simple lap belt. You can get them from ebay, or even a scrap dealer may have one. Then you just bolt it securely to the base of the seat.

    Do you have to inform your insurance company what you've done.
    As i have found i had to tell them about fitting a roof basket and before a roof box most insurance companies are fine as long as you tell them.
    But if your camper is in a accident or stolen your insurance will be void if uou don't tell them.
    As long as its not a full build DVLA say it doesn't need registering but always check first.
    Happy Camping

      We would always recommend checking with your insurance company first as they are all different and it depends on what you put. For example gas hobs are a big thing.

    If I was to remove the bulkhead panel on this berlingo would I at 5ft 10 be able to lay down flat from back of drivers seat to back door ? . I am looking at getting one for my outdoor stuff and just putting a roll mat and sleeping bag down . Just not sure if the measurements from back of drivers seat to the back door . Thanks . Stevie

    • @afterhoursautomotive
      @afterhoursautomotive  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I'm 5ft 10 and when removed it does provide just enough space to lie flat.

    Did you re-register this with the DVLA as a camper or update your insurance. Doing the same thing with a van and am curious.

    • @afterhoursautomotive
      @afterhoursautomotive  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hi Steven, I haven’t re registered it actually but seen many discussions in the mirco camper/day van community around insurance. I personally wouldn’t but I guess it’s personal preference and how much you spent/how much the van is worth. Hope this helps 👍👍

    What did you do with the seatbelt? Did you put a lap belt in?

    • @afterhoursautomotive

      We didn't fit a lap belt in the end, we leave the middle seat down as a small table. Thanks for your comment.

    Great build. We’ve got a Berlingo car Microcamper.
    If you take off the head restraint on the driver’s side and the arm rests your seats should fold completely flat. Great for our compressor fridge and power station. Use window blinds and get rid of the curtains.
    Check out our video for some space maximising ideas including an internal cargo net above the cab area…

    Where's the loo ❓

    • @afterhoursautomotive
      @afterhoursautomotive  Před 5 měsíci +2

      We built this as day van/ one night away on a campsite. Most sites now have those facilities on site. We have plans to build bigger vans with space to put in 'the loo' 😁👍
