Really appreciate your sharing the experience of how toxic xanax/ativan feels. Im tapering, and the x never feels good, its always nasty. Keep going Patrick, your going to make it after all you have been through. Hope is very hard, but I believe in you. Being you right now means feeling terrible, so be gentle and kind to yourself.

I used Valium to taper off, reducing the dose by 0.25mg every week starting from 25mg. Then I stayed on 5mg for 2 weeks, and another 2 weeks on 0.25mg. I've been off it now for 1 year. Stay strong, man. There's only one thing in life we cannot control; the rest can be sorted out. All the best.

I tapered off Clonazepam from 4mg to 0 just decreasing 0.25 every week. I’ve done this 3 times, feeling nothing during the process (the last one was after 2 and a half years of daily consumption) I must be lucky.

Wow! Yes very lucky! Be very thankful for that. I know many have no issue when coming off but then many of us do. Unfortunately we just have no way of knowing prior to taking them. I had no idea withdrawal was even a possibility when my doctor initially put me on benzos in 2019. If only I’d known….. never would’ve touched them. But, live and learn I guess. @Patricksbenzowithdrawal best thing I ever did...I dont regret going on benzo's...they did save my life ...but after 7 years of daily use ( got up to around 20mg a day of valium )..I knew I didn't need them anymore...I found titration really slowly worked with a doctor closely monitoring me really helped....I was dropping 0.1 mg at some stages( got it in liquid form) usually I could handle .05 mg drops but there was moments of pure terror here and there...clonidine helped alot too..and I found if it got too bad I would increase my dose for a day just to get a break...its no race...as long as overall mg amount is steadily going down. keeping busy helped too...as a born worrier I would ruminate on how I was feeling which of course fueled anxiety....something work related...not an activity I would usually enjoy as it would remind me how shit I felt..an activity I didn't enjoy...like work would just basically kill time until next dose...I would feel worse laying around in bed although I did gave to at times....it got easier after going down to 4 mg as I think once your gaba receptors start to grow back it they continue maybe quicker?...everyone is different though....I would stay at say 5 mg until I had no weird brain shit and felt normal..
could be 2 weeks ...could be 4 ....but I remember dropping to about 2 mg and feeling normal.within days....down to 1.5 mg ....no bad days...feel.a little off....but it got better for me...whatever works for you...its not a race....best of luck

The Xanax dose I was on was equal to just over 80mg Valium equivalent. Combine that high dose with the fact Xanax is so short acting I think it really just caused a lot of destabilization from the start that I likely would’ve never had if I’d switched to Valium at the start of the taper instead of a year and a half into it. Yeah I’ve had a couple of times they use “lactated ringers” but usually it’s just normal saline. The general thought is the heart symptoms specifically are due to POTS which I know can be pretty common during withdrawal. I usually try to eat a high sodium diet now and keep well hydrated which tends to help. It was an adjustment because I don’t like salt🤢 but it definitely helps. It’s just in times my hydration gets low or I’m not taking in enough sodium I get those bad symptoms and then the IV bags help. I’m really hoping that symptom fully resolves sooner rather than later… I never had any problems like that before withdrawal. But I know POTS specifically isn’t at all uncommon through this

Was at 60mg a year ago, got down to 15mg then 2mg then got stuck at .5mg but doctors just switched me over to lorazapam 1mg twice daily. I've never felt anything on lorazapam so I'm kind of nervous, you think if I cut to .25 xanax with the lorazapam then slowly cutting out the xanax, I don't want to abuse anything just not be sick you know? Think I'm gonna start tomorrow. I also have some research Chem benzos slightly less potent then xan so should I switch to something less potent with the lorazapam and slowly cut the rc? Love following your journey man, were in this together lol. Slightly different but still both are trying to get off of it after years of use. I started with flubro and clonazolam both 5x stronger then alprazolam measured in ug like lsd instead of mg cause that's how potent they were. You think if I stop the .5xanax and just switch to the lorazapam I'll be fine? They gave me anti seizure meds too
