- My car was overheating with a/c on while driving on the highway... So I did something about it! Inexpensive pusher fans from amazon did the trick.

The stuff you showed about the relay was really cool I learned something 😊
This is awesome! I am going to do that to my 92 Z28. I just ordered mine. Thank you for uploading this video with the parts.
Super clean install I'm a die hard ford guy but that camaro is super clean and the fan hook up was awesome....I'm having trouble keeping my mustang cool I'm going to go with a pusher type electric fan with my mechanical fan...Your video was really helpful.
I noticed you don't have the factory air diverters underneath. These are very important for the cooling air flow. I'm glad the pushers fixed the problem. Makes sense.
Nice video I noticed the shroud missing from under the front near the AC condenser it helps in cooling down the car I had a IROC with the same problem if you still need more cooling this may be of help. Just as someone else added below in his comments.
And once more, another nicely done production of this killer freakin Camaro. Good job man and still waiting on that FULL walk around (hint hint)...
Ashton Williams 👍👍 Thanks, I hope to film a walk around soon. I have to take care of a few more things on it before the leaves start falling. Next video will probably be painting the engine bay.. But i will get to it!
Nice work, planning to do the same, with summer at 107*F in El Paso, TX is a pretty good idea to have an aux fan.
Hey man, nice video and clean car. One question though, does your car have the chin spoiler under the radiator still? We run a 5.3 swapped '85 with just 2 of the same amazon fans as pullers on a stock 3rd gen radiator and it would overheat until we made a new chin spoiler. Granted we are not running a/c but it is seeing endurance racing track use. Just a thought.
Cole S Yea I have that black plastic piece under the car that connects the lower radiator support to the chin spoiler.
I just bought these to run as primary fans on my 91 ta l98 car . do you think these will be sufficent to cool engine I have lower chin spoiler on my car to help catch air also have AC
If I remember correctly third gens over heat on hwy’s when they are missing there air dam parts. Loves ur vids man keep them coming
LT11988 I actually went on ebay and ordered that whole air dam assembly. It helped a little, but then I did the pusher fans and it made a huge difference.
LsxMatt cool deal. Hey is there anyway you do a video on how you did your cold air intake. And where u got the parts
LT11988 I actually touched on it in my next video. It should be up the end of this week. I’ll link the website in the description when it goes up.
LsxMatt thanks bud! Trying do the same intake set up on my Lsx swap 88 Formula
The airdam is a must and really does help, however it scrapes / rubs on everything. The joys of owning a thirdgen lool :D
Your videos are very helpful and I️ can’t wait to got my 88 look’n like yours! Great job!!
Always look between the radiator and condenser for blockage first. that's what happen to my 83' Z28
Air damn buddy put it back on
This was very good information, thank you thank you thank you.
I saw a video on here where one kid's Camaro would get hot on the highway and he said that is lower radiator hose was collapsing under throttle and to replace it with a stiffer hose or put a spring inside the hose. Just wanted to share.. I just got my 90 IROC running and noticed it running hot at idle so I need to figure it out..
The link to the pushers is not available. Do you know the name of the company to the fans?
With all that fans you have on you're gonna have to upgrade your alternator
Great vids man! Subscribed
just did it no more overheating thank god thanks for the video you rock sir ...lol
Noticed in other vids that you don't have the air dam under the core support, I removed it on my 87, it was lowered and that black plastic air dam scraped everywhere and was noisy when it happened. Didn't think much of it but soon after it overheated all the time, took it to the dealer after changing the thermostat, water pump , then the rad in case it was plugged, still overheated, dealer had no idea said maybe head gasket. Back in the 90's we had the players challenge race series and they ran 1le race prepped 3rd gens built specifically for this by gm. Any how at a show and shine I met a guy who raced one and the first thing he asked about my car was if it overheats, stunned I said yes we can't figure it out, he said to put that plastic air dam back on, it was there for a reason. Son of a bitch was right, never overheated again. Just a thought.
Jason Scott I had the whole assembly on the car, its the piece under the chin spoiler, then it had side pieces and the center section that directs air from the grill straight into the radiator. It helped a little after not having it, but I still needed something extra. I only had overheating with ac on, on very hot days.
Mine 91 Camaro didn't have it when I bought it. Drove it like that for 7 years no overheating problem
what is your feedback? i bought the same and mount them with mec fan but it seems not helping much
Hi. Great info on this video. You've got a killer LS Camaro! Let's say I want to do this dual pusher fan setup on my '92 L98 TPI Camaro...will the wiring be similar to what you have done on your application? I would have to tap into the electrical AC compressor line, etc. Same principles?
I am about to replace my car's radiator and condenser...so, I'm considering the dual pusher setup. Thanks in advance. Tony from the hot state of Texas.
Okay. I did my pusher setup slightly different using digital relays for the fans:
czcams.com/video/-Czjxp3i26E/video.html
Do you still recommend the SPAL brand (for pusher fans)? Thanks.
One sweet ride
Did you make a video of the ls fan install? Can I get a link please? I can’t find it . Thank you
I'm at my wit's end with this overheating in Arizona. I have a 1997 Camaro with the same issue. Purchased the fans and relays on Amazon, here goes nothing....
Beautiful car 👍👍👍👍
great job again man
I just noticed. On your videos your car has nothing in the nose section ...... lots of stuff in mine . Has the cold air snorkel and other stuff . So I guess I have to dismantle it to do this ?
hey man, I'm in australia i'm very close to buying an 87 model. I was wondering if you could send me a list of your engine build as I have no clue about cars and what to buy haha by the way your car is super sexy! keep up the amazing work
my 88 does the opposite, heats up at lower speeds and runs cool down the highway........looking for a fix.
My 91 camaro is stock with stock 1 fan n i live in tx with 92 degree temperatures n i drive with my ac on in city n dont overheat wired that u overheat on highway driving my temperature stays the same or drops a hair on highway with ac on
I don’t have an air dam, thats most likely why. I need to replace it.
@@lsxmatt my camaro never had one n my never overheated
I have over cooling issues california weather
It’s a pretty old video so idk I’d you’ll respond but I kind of need your help, I have an 87 firebird and the previous owner had the main fan on a toggle switch. I recently got a new push fan so I’ll have both a push and pull, I am trying to wire both fans to the ac compressor but also on a toggle for when I’m driving with the ac off, do you think you can help me out?
I'm having problems with one of my fan's that won't come even when I put the AC. The question is is that a 7inch or a 16inch fans?
Aye this video tho!!!!!! You are a life saver bro.
Did you reverse the fan blades?
Hi, do you have only two push fan, or push + pull fans?
Did the added fan help any?
Budy i notice while you where driving your battery amp gauge is low do your lights dem
Wonder if i can do that on my 92 since the ac condenser is before the radiator🤔
i noticed your voltmeter was showing low 11 to 12 volts while driving is all 4 fans using to many amps or is your alternator going out asking because I just bought the same fans and I am working on the install at moment wonder if I need to separate the wiring schematic to 2+2 instead of 1 +3 or just add one fan 1 +2 with ac on
The gauge just reads low. With a real voltmeter on it, its at 13.8 with all fans running.
@@lsxmatt cool i have 1 installed was debating on if I should add the other before setting motor back in thanks
I Have a stupid question. Where did you get your steering wheel? what type?
Its a 94’ cavalier wheel.
LsxMatt I would have never guessed. Looks really good.
LsxMatt is it a direct fit?
She's purdy
Can you splice into the thermostat to electric fan wire so they can turn on when the fans turn on?
Yea you can splice the relay trigger wire into the regular cooling fans and they would come on at the same time then.
If car overheats on highway then car have minor head gasket leakage
I’m tryna throw a 8l90 in a 4th gen camaro, contact me man, I need some advice
Should the fans push the air or pull from the condenser?
The fans on the inside pull into the engine bay, the ones I added in this video are suppose to push air into the bay from the outside
Budy i notice while you where driving your battery amp gauge is low
Yea I noticed that as well. I checked the battery and charging system a few times, but everything was good. I think the gauge is just lazy.
I have been fighting this issue in my camaro for a while. Stays at 180 without ac on but with ac on it goes up to 240+ in stop and go traffic! I may have to try this!
Matthew V Without a doubt try it out! For the price, it beats buying a 3 core radiator or an expensive set of radiator fans.
Damn 4 fans my has two n it only gets to the middle on hot 100 degree weather n ac on
Yea It turned out to be my ls1 fans were just weak. I put in a set of Spal’s and problem is solved, don’t need the pushers anymore. I’m still keeping them for my heat exchanger though, just gonna control them by a switch instead of the a/c.
The good like the car
Did you reverse the fan blades?
Troy Torres yea, just flip the blades and reverse the polarity and they become pushers.
Got an odd question how do you change the alternator and power steering pump location?
You can get different brackets from summit or even ebay. Just google ls power steering or alternator relocation brackets.
LsxMatt Thank you. You should own your own shop seriously.
do you think it would be ok to tap into factory fan plug if i am still stock
You’ll probably end up blowing a fuse because the circuit can’t handle the load of an extra fan. However you can use the factory fan power wire to trigger the relay, that will turn the fans on when the stock fan comes on. You’ll still need to run dedicated power from the battery to the new fan relay.
@@lsxmatt thank you that makes sense!
Wat size fuse/relay are you running to each fan 30amp?
Each fan has its own 30 amp fuse and 40 amp relay.
LsxMatt thanks
How much in total did you spend on the car?
Just under 30 from stock to where it sits now. I did all the labor myself.
LsxMatt jeez 30? I barely have 1k in mine and its still shit, guess i gotta put in some major work
Yea this was over the course of 6 years. That also includes the 1800 I paid for the car, plus all dyno tuning I paid for.
Is it a stock radiator?
Yea, the car has a summit 2 core now though.
Nice :) I bought a 1982 trans am a while ago in parts, so I need among other things a new radiator. Bought a cheap one from ebay, but I havent tested it yet
How can u do this and have a switch to Turn them on manually?
Just put the switch in between the ground wire from the pcm to the relay.
LsxMatt I was Gonna wire it like you do a light bar ..... main power from battery and ground to fender similar like yours with relay and all and a switch going to dash some where and push on when needed
Well I don’t have an ls swap but these cars with the l98 engine over heat al the time. I don’t know or ever see my fans turn on . I changed the relays on firewall by the brake booster and only time I can hear the fan is on sometime it turns on and definitely the a/c one turns on as soon as I turn the a/c on my a/c don’t work . But it’s all there and hooked up . It will boil over in Texas heat after cruising in the high way . And just like you said you would think it should be cooler from all the air it’s getting from going 70 mph . So how do I check if my fans are coming on ?
Oh and my temp gauge in car doesn’t work either I tried changing all the sensors and nada . It’s the actual Gauge because I grounded the wire to the gauge and it moved little bit . When it’s supposedly go all the way to past the red line when you ground it out .
LsxMatt and don’t know where to start with that . Putting a ground wife in between the pcm ?
I'm sure your tired of people diagnosing your overheating problem in the comment section. lol, However, I cannot help but wonder if you removing your cover on top, between the nose and your nonexistent hood latch, might be contributing? Then again, if the fans fixed the problem, not a big deal anymore.
I still have that panel on there. I think I really just need to upgrade from the stock radiator.
Yeah, I think that is a worth while upgrade for sure.
