I visit the Cotswold town of Bradford in the Avon Valley, Wiltshire. I visit its Saxon church, look at its hermitage and visit the Kennett and Avon Canal. #Bradfordonavon #wiltshire #canals
Thank you Faith! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, that Saxon church! Wow! I was lucky to have it all to myself to enjoy it, and soak up the atmosphere. Thanks again, take care, Paul.
Thank you so much Donna! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, the colours of the narrowboats are very photogenic aren't they? Thanks so much for watching. Take care, Paul.
Thank you so much Roy! Yes, it is a lovely place to wander around for a few hours. Has some lovely cafes, and a couple of waterside pubs too. Hope you are having a great weekend. Take care, Paul.
Thanks Paul. That looked familiar. We have visited Bradford on Avon and the Tythe Barn. Also we walked along the canal to the Avoncliffe aqueduct and had refreshments at the No 10 cafe. 😊☕☕
Thank you Cathy - yes, it is a great place to visit, though, being an urban area, a little outside of my comfort zone. However, the delights of the Saxon church, the hermitage chapel, the canal, and the barn more than made up for it. Thanks again, take care, Paul.
Thank you so much John; that's a lovely comment. I try and film all year around. The only things that stop me are heavy rain and high winds, which makes filming virtually impossible. As you say, there is a special, almost magical quality to the light at this time of the year. In the summer, when the sun is directly overhead, the light can be harsh and overbright. Hope you are well. Good to hear from you, take care, Paul.
This is a fabulous video Paul! Bradford on Avon is on my wish list of places to go! It looks really beautiful! I loved the Saxon church and Tythe Barn aswell as the canal scenes.
Thank you Louise! Glad you enjoyed it. It is only about 20 minutes on the train from Bath, so not too far away. Yes, well worth visiting whenever you are in the area. Yes, that Saxon church was a gem, wasn't it? Take care, Paul.
Hello Paul - greetings from Poland This is, in my opinion, the best "town visit" video you've produced. What a fabulous place to visit, with so much to see and enjoy. Very impressed with the saxon church and the walk up to the chaple. Super camera work and commentary, great historical facts and local information, with the most wonderful still photographs to round the video off. congratulations - you've got a winner here. See you again soon. Stay safe please
Thank you Michael! Glad you enjoyed it. I was happy with the barn and canal scenes, but I did struggle with the commentary around the town - you can tell it in my voice - I am talking too low inside my vocal cords, because I felt very unconfident. I came back to 'myself' in the quieter spots. As you know I struggle enormously doing town videos, but, because of the beauty and history of this particular town, I thought that my lovely subscribers and viewers would like to see it. Glad you liked the photographs too - I was blessed with great quality of light - particularly when I was in the canal basin area. Thanks again for your support, it is greatly appreciated! Take care, Paul.
Thank you David! Great to hear from you Glad you enjoyed the video. One of favourite towns. The Saxon church, in particular, is incredible. I was lucky to have it all to myself when I was filming it. Take care, Paul 👍🙂
Hi, Westcountry, Wow, Bradford offers us rich architecture such as 3:16. So lovely.4:05 Wow, this is a tiny Lock.16:54 I have gone through a larger Dam Lock at two different locations. It was intimidating when I was on a kayak with a large sailing boat was being in the same lock, water being filled, and released to the other side. Well, I would love to share with you the vid of me kayaking in the canal elsewhere if you mean it. Thank you very much.Ta ta --until next time. Ta ta until next time. From the premiere of Rach an Wills.
Thank you! Yes we all had fun on the CZcamsrs meet up in Shrewsbury. Thanks, glad you enjoyed the tour of Bradford-on-Avon - it is a lovely town. Take care, Paul.
Superbly presented video complete with lots of detail. What a lovely little town. I think I've only passed through on the train to Bristol but I feel I know the area having read The Map that Changed the World (by Simon Winchester) which tells the life of William Smith. He lived nearby at the Tucking Mill and was jointly responsible for the Somerset Coal Canal. Recommended reading!! The stone would be oolite I think, what a lovely colour it is. On my last trip home I went down to Milton locks, which is the final stretch of the Portsmouth & Arundel Canal, the entrance way is still in use leading up to a hardway and small boatyard. I used to live nearby practically on the tow path. Long since abandoned it lives on in the names of the streets in Portsmouth. Don't really use Facebook but when I get time will have a look and post the pictures I took some of which are on Instagram. Good luck from Spain!!
Thank you David. Yes, it is a town well worth exploring, and most of the really interesting bits are outside of the main town centre. Thank so much. I will check that book out - sounds a great read. Yes, it is Cotswold Oolite - all those little sea creatures from millions of years ago made it. Thanks again, take care, Paul. Oh, I hope to cover part of the Somerset Coal Canal in a future video, but it won't be until after the new year.
Came across your wonderful video of Bradford on Avon. We might change our plans to come to this area and visit Bath and Stonehenge. It seems I keep coming back to this area. Thank you again for another informative and wonderful video.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed Bradford-on-Avon. Yes, Bath is well worth a visit and they are both close to each other. Stonehenge is fairly close to Salisbury (also worth a visit - I have done a video about that fine City too) and they run busses from Salisbury Station to Stonehenge. Thanks for watching 👍🙂Take care, Paul
What a wonderful town, with some jewels of buildings. I was particularly impressed by the saxon church. Great video.
Thank you Faith! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, that Saxon church! Wow! I was lucky to have it all to myself to enjoy it, and soak up the atmosphere. Thanks again, take care, Paul.
Such a lovely area, especially along the canal...I can just imagine it all decorated for Christmas. Bruce and Otis
Thank you! Yes, so much to see in the area. Thanks so much, take care, Paul.
Beautiful tour, Paul. I loved seeing the fall colors on the trees and hose colorful longboats on the canal.
Thank you so much Donna! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, the colours of the narrowboats are very photogenic aren't they? Thanks so much for watching. Take care, Paul.

I wish more people would film interesting areas at this time of the year. The low sunlight made the video magical. It lifted my spirits.

Possibly your most beautiful video yet Paul, like This England magazine brought to life...makes me feel nostalgic.

Thank you for sharing your wandering! Really interesting :)
Those crossings make me nervous too!
Oh, gosh yes! Can't understand why they don't have a 'traffic light' system like at a pelican crossing.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video and found it interesting. Cheers, Paul 👍
