Subscribed! I love watching bike restoration since I have a classic racer bike and it's my favorite one.
I am amazed by how an absolutely thrashed looking bike can be restored to something you'd buy brand new. Fantastic job!!
Thank you so much!
It is not restored it is rebuilt. This bike has the weirdest random selection of parts I have seen in a long time. Why does it have a rear hub on the front wheel? Campagnolo never built bike frames only components. The bicycle builder or brand name is to be the decals on the down tube.
@@chrisallen9154 spot on my thoughts exactly
It's not a fantastic job and it's not free labour.
You're wasting your life when you could be riding and tuning the bike.
It's called going backwards in life.
Society will make you waste more of your life.
Stop pandering to the low classes.
As soon as he sells it, the spoilt brats will destroy it again.
It's not actually that hard
That frame is probably the best frame you will ever work on. It is a hand-built piece of art. The Brooks saddle was a nice touch.
Right on
ooh ok!
That frame was screaming for a professional restoration with polished lugs/dropouts and a killer paint job.
Nice job and as an old mechanic who has assembled hundreds of bikes here are some comments:
1) I like how those wheels magically got rebuilt after cutting out the spokes, rebuilding them is beyond most people skills.
2) Your front derailleur is mounted to high and will shift better if lowered.
3) Make sure your bottom spindle tapers are clean before attaching crank (no grease or oil).
4) Grease your chain ring bolts to prevent creaking.
5) Your stem should stick out some do not pound on it or set it so low.
6) Your front Quick Release should be on the same side as the rear one.
7) You need to drip oil or inject grease into the cassette body after you cleaned it.
8) You should grease all the cable wires before running them through the casings.
9) You need to toe in the brake blocks to prevent squealing when braking.
10) You should grease the seat post and stem before insertion.
11) Your tape seemed short as I would have wrapped it tighter with more overlap and it should have reached farther so that you only needed one wrap of electrical tape at the end.
Just suggestions from an old mechanic............
Good pointers. I got a question though. Point 8, wouldn't get dust and stuff to stick better to the wires?
@@andreasbergwall9437 The grease is to lubricate the cable so it slides better. You should have cable housing caps on the end of the cable housing to keep stuff from getting in the housing.
@@jaycahow4667 Yes i understand the concept. It might also prevent rust. However, you'll get some parts of the wire that'll be exposed when you shift and you might drag dust and stuff in and out of the housing.
@@andreasbergwall9437 some people change cabling each year or even more frequently
Also noticed his front wheel is a rear wheel...which is weird.
I've done this 100 times and it never gets old. It's almost as enjoyable watching someone else do it. Certainly quicker!
Finally a video of someone restoring something worthwhile! I've been watching these bicycle restoration videos for the past few days and mostly the work done has been first-rate. The thing is they've been restoring Huffies, K-Mart and low end Schwinns.
Glad to help
I learned the hard way: don’t cut gear cables, detach. Some old downtube shifters, simplex for sure, have very small holes for the lead heads and new cable heads might need to be ground/ filed down to seat into the holes. Nowadays I don’t throw out or waste any old parts, cables included. Great video, thanks.
cables are disposable parts and should be replaced even on newer bikes. the cables tend to stretch and some strands brake inside the guides which makes riding dangerous in the case of brake cables.
This is restoration! Use everything, old spares and make it to work ! Beautiful! Well done !
I just found this page. I love it. Super chill, yet informative. Keep up the great work.
Welcome aboard!
I just love videos like this. So calming and interesting. Incredible how some hard work can turn an old rusty piece of trash into an amazing restored vintage masterpiece anyone would be proud to own.
No doubt its labour intensive
Wrong.
See someone wasting their life while the majority of people are ruthlessly trashing everything they can get their hands on.
@@edwardweiszbeck1649 The 92% of people are idiot destructive intensive.
Awesome to watch - great job! Strange mix of old Shimano, Suntour, and a Campy front derailleur, with semi-modern "aero" brake levers thrown in! That old stuff really is bullet proof!
Campy parts are not really available here in the Philippines so the owner of the bike has to be willing to import them, which would usually cost twice the original price.
Mr Coggie me encanta tu trabajó y dedicación, por tu canal me decidí a armar y arreglar mi bicicleta, saludos desde México!
¡Guau! ¡Buena suerte con tu trabajo! ¡¡¡Gracias!!!
I love this kind of restoration video. Haters are so quick to point out the discrepancies, but i doubt they'd have the reaolve to take on a project like this. I've also seen other videos where people with unlimited funding build perfection. This is a lovely representation of bringing a cool bike back to life with some aesthetic flair. Haters be damned!
Interesting video. It was pleasing to watch an old bike being restored with all the things I used to do (never pressed in headset races though). My only question: why have Shimano 600 shift levers and Sun Tour derailleur on a “Campagnolo” bike? I still ride my 1987 De Rosa every day and it’s nice to see the old maintenance skills endure.
Thank you!!!
and the dia compe stem...would be nice to see al full campagnolo mounted components
@@ammartinezguzman It's a "RAG" bike.... shows people he has had so many bikes he has enough spare parts to throw together one.
@@ammartinezguzman Campagnolo parts are not generally available in the Philippines.
The owner can try to import campag parts from abroad (twice the price after taxes) later then use it to "upgrade", but now at least it looks 100% cleaned up and perfectly rideable.
In the era where you had five and six gear freewheels, it was not only possible but common to have a mishmash. My first road bike had a Galli crank, a Nuovo Record front, a Suntour Cyclone rear, and Campy braze-on shift levers. Friction shifting made this sort of thing pretty trivial. These days, I worry about not having wear parts for the Campy 10 groups on my two custom road bikes.
To musiała być świetna wyczynowa rama, campagnollo do byle czego nie zakladali. Ja bym jeszcze wyeksponowal mufy tej ramy. Dobra robota. Pozdrawiam z Polski.
.
As far as I know, there are not Campagnolo bikes but components. But I liked this work very much. I liked the fact that you kept almost all the components and the bike did not change from its original design. Best of luck!
I have a Puch Pacifica (Austro Daimler) bike with lugs exactly like that, the frame sticker says "Special Puch Tubing 482" and it had the complete Shimano 600 filigreed group originally. Your bike has a nice mix of components. I'm especially liking that you took the trouble to respoke the wheels! Looks great, and it must be a nice ride too.
Top shelf! Campy components stand the test of time. A little love and care goes a long way.
You got that right!
Beautiful restoration from top to bottom!
Nice work. I love the old Campagnolo components. So glad to see them restored.
Glad you enjoyed it
I see, this bike including also Shimano's, SunTour's and other random components. And Campagnolo never made frames, only components and rims. Nice job anyway!👍
Shimano 600 Arabesque shifters....
Wielka robota!!!! Szacunek !!!!
It's awesome that you show every step. I watched through all of it and it's not just educational but also entertaining
Thank you so much!!!
But very silly and dangerous to health.
Those strangers making your life impossible to live.
Forcing you to waste hours of your life before you're able to go riding.
People who ride the bus are smarter than this.
@@Gma7788 it's a hobby bro
Amazing job. Thank you for sharing. I have a vintage Trek circa 1980's I just acquired and and planning a full restore.
Another amazing content lodi... You never fail to amused us with your craftsmanship and dedication... Waiting for the next bike project... 👍👏
Thank you so much!
What a gorgeous bike. My town got too hip and these gems were all snatched up. Hard to find any skeletons anymore
Very nice restoration and video! As an oldtimer, can I just make a couple of comments? Most bikes of that era would have used a woven cotton tape (wouldn’t want to go back to that!), and the convention for positioning quick release skewers is that the levers should be on the left-hand side. I realise there will be all sorts of opinions on this, so no criticism intended.
That is not all my friend. This was a poorly staged rebuild.
Nakaka satisfied lahat ng video 🌹
New biker here may matutunan talaga when it comes to restoration✨
Salamat po!
Nice work! Keep up the good work!
wew ganda lods.. iba ka talaga.. classic restoration... napa isip tulog ako pumunta sa mga nag bebenta ng mga 2nd hand bikes.. naka mka chamba ng classic bikes

Less bankers and lawyers and more people like you in the world….bravissisimo
Magnifique ! C’est de l’art à ce niveau là la restauration de ce vélo ! Bravo !
C'est tout sauf une restauration
Fantástico! Que color tan bonito le pusiste. A very well done video too
This is actually a pretty sweet bike and parts. Totally worth the hard work
Thank you!!
Looks real similar to the vintage of my first road bike. I had a very similar combination of components. Same exact crankset, front derailure and brake levers 😀.
Sounds great!
Great restoration, fabulous job, well done. 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Great job bringing this classic bike back to life.
Thank you!
Looks great, thanks for sharing. Polished lugs would have been extra sick. But polished lugs would have been many more hours of work. Such a killer ride.
Isa na nmn bike ang mabibigayan buhay🥰 More restoration to come goodluck and godbless kuya
Thank you so much!
It's enlightening to see bike culture in Manila. Reminds me of the late '70s in the US. The sport hadn't hit the US yet, but a bike boom followed the OPEC oil crisis, cars lined up outside gas stations, and aging Boomers, banging up their knees running for fitness, found cycling a very attractive alternative on many levels.
Do you know how old that bike is and where it came from? The internal cables on the top tube were quite avant guard back in the eighties, and the brakes and cranks look older. Did the Campagnolo head badge come from the company or the builder paying his tribute to the brand? A very sophisticated interpretation of the finest Italian racing bikes of the era. Timeless! First class bringing it back to life!
Hello there! I actually have no idea about the age but this bike was originally owned by a grandfather. An antique memento so it's kinda old actually
@@CoggieBikeWell they develop character as they age, don't they? Looks like it rides as luxuriously as it did back in it's day!
I would have loved to see those beautiful lugs painted to match the entry and exit ports on the top tube. However, a beautiful restoration. Thanks for sharing.
So nice! The colour choice is fantastic! Congratulations.
Thank you so much!
Really great experience, Campag were my idol when I was young, so innovative. Thanks for the body work tips.
No problem!!!
Beautiful work. Such attention to detail!
92% of humans are in a trashing stuff frenzy.
This is going backwards in life and getting an early death.
What an amazing work. Thanks for that video.
Awesome job, looks amazing
Now, this is a real restoration! How satisfactory! Thanks a lot for such a great work!
Beautiful restoration. I only wonder if the original paint could have been saved. It looked like it might of been in good condition after a good washing and polishing and a layer or two clear.
Thank you so much!
The old paint is noy original tho, it's just acrylic paint
but the colour scheme is absolutely mine. Inspirational.
Original paint would be eviromently unfriendly.red lead was in most paints primero
Nice work on a nice bike. But the short looping music almost kills it. Please get rid or it !
Very cool that you managed to keep so many of the original components. Interesting that it doesn't actually have a Campagnolo groupset!
Let's goooo
another 1 from the amazing Coggie Bike Restoration
Thank you!!!
I love watching these before falling asleep dude is a beast restoring bikes.
Thank you!!!
The only parts on that bike that are Campy are the headset and the front derailleur.
Inpiring content, had to sub after watching a few of these videos! Really want to do a restoration myself one day, will definitely be coming back to look at them again!
Awesome, thank you!
Put the rusty bolts and stuff in vinegar or citrid acid over night next time :) liked the styling! good job!
I could watch your videos all day. All the best from South Wales 🏴.

Lovely mechanical piece of art brought back to life.
Wow! Well done. I actually watched the entire video. The music added the final touch. Thanks for your time and effort. You got skills.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Epic restoration, I love the color scheme you guys have gone for this one. If I could, I would buy it from you guys and have it shipped to my country, but it won't be possible. The green and yellow combo feels kind of like a lemon themed bicycle. Very interesting restoration...
Galing. Very amusing makita ang old bike being restored to its new Glory. More power boss. Looking forward na ma restore mo din boss old bike ko. Salamat! 😁
Salamat po!
Amazing work as always!
Cheers from Portugal
Wrong.
Early death from rust up the nose and chemicals contamination.
masterfully done sir! ganda pagka restore.
Thank you so much!
Beautiful work, cheers!
Thank you!!
You should have kept the straight lacing on the non drive side of the rear wheel. Also, kenda tires are big no-no
Also, you shouldn't bang the stem in, that will scratch it and the bars will be too low.
hope you're being ironic...:)
kenda rocks yo
@@kenkovar2647 nope, cheap kenda just sucks. Very heavy, very hard and there's no grip. More expensive tires, like Continental Ultra Sport, are much better value.
Kenda have a new performance line, but I have no experience with them yet.
Wow. That's more like a resurrection than a restoration. Salamat. :)
there you go again! making me jealous of your incredible restoration videos
Thank you!!!
Amazing work!
🚲🔥
Glad you like it!
I have too many comments, I'll just mention a few.
A. The builder clearly has experience with this. Either he is self taught or worked as a bike mechanic at some point.
1. I don't think Campagnolo ever made bike frames. (Correct me if I am wrong here.) The closest thing would be the dropouts for for front and rear axles. I still own and occasionally ride a hand made 1983 Bianchi I got new from Italy. It has the Campy dropouts, but the rest is all Bianchi, (lugs made by Cinelli I believe) and Columbus tubing. I wish I could have completed the build with a full Campy group set, but I could barely afford the frame as it was at the time. That's kind of what I see in this bike also. In fact, most of the parts on this bike are NOT Campy. Someday I'll complete my build properly. But the vintage Campy parts keep getting more expensive though.
2. That appears to be a (Regina?) true 5 speed cluster, which would have been more likely for an older bike, but this one has internal rear brake cable routing and braze-on shift lever bosses. I think seven speed would have been the norm of the day then.
3. Do my eyes deceive me? You fit a rear hub into the front fork??? What are the external threads for?
4. So many other odd clues as to the vintage, such as the Zefal cloth rim tape, 36 spoke hubs, no braze on front derailleur mount, the Dia-compe stem and SR bars, and the early aero rims. Hard to put an exact date on this bike.
5. And yet the video was a joy to watch. Thanks Coggie Bike.
Thank you for this lovely comment
До чего же красивая рама у этого шедевра, это просто настоящее искусство, спасибо что даёте вторую жизнь этой красоте, С огромным уважением к Вам дорогой друг.

Wrong.
The opposite is true.
Warren buffet would call this, madness. Going backwards in life.
Achieving an early death from rust and chemicals up the nose.
You must think we were born yesterday.
Shut up fool.
Bellissimo lavoro! Hai restaurato una bici meravigliosa conservandola per i posteri.Il risultato è bellissimo complimenti.
Grazie!!!
great job. Only one comment - the lugs and crowns should have been hand painted gold/bronze again and the original pedals would have been worth a fortune too.
Agree...
This is what I have been looking for. This is a real restoration, someone who only replaces what is necessary but tries to keep the original and respects the brand name.
Great job, and the shots allow you to learn as well.
Thank you!
Hell...... that wasn't original!!!!!!!!!!! That was a punch of different parts on an old frame!!!!!!!! Suntour rear derailleur, Shimano 600 friction shifters, etc.... That was a rag bike with a bunch of decent quality parts!!! I have Shimano 600 brake calipers on my 1991 Eddy Merckx SLX with Campy Chorus derailleurs, BB, Headset, etc. DON'T GET ME WRONG...cool rebuild but crap paint job... ya used rattle can paint instead of a catalyzed paint with a hardener and then a clear coat . I like how you went with Cross 3 spoke lacing instead of the radial lacing.. I've never seen a freewheel hub used up front!!!!!!! I have a "RAG" bike like that and it has a Shimano 105 derailleur that's about 30 years old... it works fine!!! The whole "Rag" bike is built on a 1988 Centurian frame with Shimano 105 cranks, Campy Victory front derailleur... etc. It's a bunch of thrown together old parts and ya know what?... I ride that bike more than my Cervelo Campy record/chorus bike. Thanks for video!!!!!
I try to learn something new every day. Thanks for the video.
Welcome!
Espectacular trabajo!!
The maestro! Genius. So beautiful.
When I was 14 bought a secondhand flying scot with wing nuts on the wheels ,hurt down tube gears campagnolio gears a narrow brooks saddle surprisely comfortable. Powdersky blue in colour toe clips .would love to see one with all these original components. A craze in 70s teenager cycling were always swapping and changing components. Cranks, sprockes gears.handle bars mainly.
I was a good build. You can still improve your restorations by polishing the hardware like new. I'm looking forward to more restorations from your channel. 👍
There is no brand of bike campagnolo, that is an Italian company that makes bike components. The real frame builder was on the head badge
Yes they also made high end wheels for cars like Ferrari and Lamborghini!
Usually this is correct. Super rarely they have made frames for expos and demos, but this is likely not the case here.
I'm not an expert but this looks kind of like Peugeot one. However the majority of them had SunTour components as it is French
@@miosztokarczyk3168 suntour is japan
@@grantkoeller8911 my bad, I mistaken SunTour and Simplex 😅😅
