This makes the Gameboy Micro look comfortable.
If you hold the START button you can then save/load state, change brightness and go back to the MENU. Sorry we forgot to show that bit! You can only save FOUR profiles max per game.

Omg, this thing is adorable. I'm with ya on the black, just because it's the original colour. I looked on ebay and the price is a little on the heavy side. I love the fact that they kept the buttons as the original. Yep getting mine then wrapping it up for the time capsule 🤣. Thanks for a great unboxing👍🏾
Yeah I remember the game gear, and how quickly my allowence was spent on batteries.
I hope Sega comes back to the console war and gets its name to the top again

It seems these days the top tier consoles are made by ridiculously wealthy companies (Microsoft, Sony). Don't think Sega have the money to compete :(

Its utter robbery from Sega including only 4 games. Then another 4 depending on colour. I would love one if it had like 30 games

I'm going to buy the Nintendo Game and Watch mini with only three games, but since it uses USB-C hopefully it'll be hackable enough that I can add Tetris and a few other roms.

Cut them some slack. SEGA is struggling to survive. And this product is meant to be a novelty/collector's item. And their production budget is limited.

I know it wouldn't have been 'Micro' but it would of been cool if they kept the screen size of the original GG, improved the screen with the same native resolution and just made the body smaller. It was unnecessarily chunky for the original screen size due to technology at the time.

This thing might make a good shim if you have a chair with a short leg.

This actually looks nice and would fit on my keyring.
Its amazing and the cardboard insert that the console was in is identical to the old sega game gear and sega genesis. If it had more games i would buy it

@@yolololo5501 being small nobody had an issue with, but only 4 games now lots if people were disappointed with. They was expecting a little more from Sega. Be as it was, many snubbed this one
"what was that" those 4 lines/stripes were the spines of the box art.
They should have created a slimline version of the original.
Just so you guys know, the reason its this small is so that it is a scale replica next to the mega drive mini.

the two AA's will give it a nice weight like the original that ran on 6 AA's that makes me all nostalgic i want one
these would be cool if for one thing affordable, are they? and if they can plug into tv to play it on large screen-can it? otherwise no, not as much to me..i think too small.

After watching this, the comment at the end about a real one had me thinking that a video where you get one and accessories or even a possible mod of the original game gear could be a interesting watch, it does seem to be missing from the shown collection

How can you buy it when you can’t understand the text on the website? Unfortunately I didn’t take up other languages at school
If they were to do a modernised version of the Game Gear for the western markets, I could see that doing quite well assuming it could emulate anything from the Master System to the Dreamcast. Unfortunately what they chose to release is just too small to be taken seriously.

That is pretty cool, but considering the size difference compared to the original I believe SEGA could of gotten away with making it abit bigger, just big enough to fit with the small retro console trend.
Why didn't they include Sonic drift 2???!, I remember playing the hell out of that game with my original 3ds along with Sonic labyrinth which I also loved!

I think it would maybe worth it if it included a few genesis games like sonic 1 and 2 as they easily could
It was a version of both of those games for the game gear. They don't even need to add another emulator to it, they could just put in the game gear versions. I'm with you four games is not enough. I would buy one if they did a Sonic edition with all 10 of the Sonic games released for the game gear... That would be much more worth it to me.
Or if they just made one I could put my own ROMs on.

According to asterisk on Reddit: The USB port is wired for data. Pressing the button in the battery compartment before booting puts the system in FEL mode (likely how they program the flash in the factory)

The original tuck 3 times the batteries I remember that.
I play mine every day. They need to make a GameGear Micro with Space Harrier, they can still make more. 100$ Canadian including shipping and import fees? Well, at least it does not have Capacitor issues like a real GameGear. Worth it for that aspect, if you have young eyes that can see and play the games on this system.

Probably better graphics and processor than the OG one lol.
Definitely a better display. My friend had a game gear back in the day and even brand new the screen stunk. Ghosting, and you could never get the contrast right. It was either too dark and purpley, or washed out and white, there was no good in-between that made the entire screen look even.

Um.. You can charge it with micro USB... But you need batteries for it to work? Guess that means buying rechargeables. Collector's item no doubt

So basically this can be used to play when you are waiting for someone and there's no internet.

I got a real one for free cause our neighbor was cleaning out their basement and found their old one and didn't want it so gave it to me came with charging plug to play with it plugged in pacman columns 2 Ecco the dolphin sonic 2 Bram stokers Dracula and I might be forgetting 1 or 2 I can't remember it was a while ago now but I still got it and it works great minus the battery compartments it only works plugged in

why couldn't they have reissued game gears with decent brighter clearer screen at affordable price so alternative to these overpriced modded game gears out there- and same size, its already small enough or a retron sq type thing but that plays game gear carts..like those can play gba games-that'd be cool

Only 4 games? How to add more games (ROMS)? No SD Slot to add more games? Is the battery rechargeable? The screen is too small for games and the device does not have a good grip for those with big hands.
