Are there seriously any high end GPU's that depreciate that far in value? I've been looking at building a high end windows xp machine lately and an 8800 costs at least 20 dollars and that's just over 10 years old at this point.

That's hardly the case, TheTyisAwesome. CPUs have hit a research bottleneck trying to eek out a way to get more transistors on their chips. In recent years they: reorganized the transistors, improving many of the various types of circuits; had countless software improvements; but only just recently got the transistors smaller. The graphics industry is improving due to other factors, like better software. Also, graphics cards have so much more room to work with compared to a CPU, they will be able to keep filling up space for quite a while to come I imagine (more ram! more cuda cores! faster internal bus!).

2007 nvidia 8800 ultra are still like $40 (and technology advancements are slowing down......and 2011 core i5 2500k still runs well in 2017. you wouldn't be using a 2001 cpu fine in 2007). also 8800ultra was like $600 when it launched vs the titan v $3000. no in 10 years this card may still cost $100 or more

It happens to me rarely maybe because I'm not an oaf and actually check to see updates manually so they never get to the point of interrupting you. Or just choose to install during inactive hours.
Not to mention LTT is probably getting development and future updates.

norullzz It can. But its usually better to try and cram more neurons in the same memory by moving to FP16 -- see Pete Walden's blog on "network quantization".
No, several times has been shown that F32 (single precision) or even for some models F16 (half precision) it's enough for deep learning, F64 doesn't have any gaining but the increment on time of train your model is a major issue. So a benchmark on F64 haven't any value for deep learning community.

I would love it if you guys tested these cards and the Quadros on some fun Machine Learning stuff- like facial tracking, hot dog recognition, etc. I have been really stumped as to what GPU is worth getting so it would be genuinely helpful for me.
The only logical thing you can do now is build deep learning AI computer to justify the cost.
I was going to say see how fast it runs Boinc or Folding@home.

Linus try Universe Sandbox (squared). The simulation uses predictions for orbit, so the Titan V should be able to calculate better than the Titan Xp.

Votix actually games are not looking as good for performance ,just look around all the triple a games and everything still looks "cartoonist" ,and the Xbox one x which is powerful still very slow compared to this beast, so in 5 years the titan v will be more than enough to run games

Original Titan was released in 2013 almost 5 years ago... Well if nVidia will release something next year for 150 bucks as powerful as original Titan which as powerful as 1060 6gb then you're right. But I don't believe that this will happen.

Bought one for scientific computing (radar, sonar and such). Works beautifully under Matlab GPU parallel toolbox. 4.5 TFlops double precision, 9 TFlops single precision on real-world work. I don't do significant amounts of deep learning, so will probably not get to test the tensor cores. The downside is being at the bleeding edge. I use Linux, and it turns out that the driver showcases a bug in xorg. If you have an animated cursor, and it remains animated for 1 full second, xorg hangs with 100% CPU. Hoping for RedHat to make a fix (since they're the maintainers). In the meantime, living with no animated cursors, and some significant difficulty in VMs....
The titan v u must unlock in nvidia inspector. boost all performans there.. spars grid plus 128 anti aliasing, put all graphics open and then u wil se titan v is kicking ass.. even its brother titan rtx was half perfomanse with multisample in grand theft auto with these high unlocked settings

NicoMahler it's not made for 3 dimensions, it is made to process huge vectors and matrixes that include millions of dimensions. These are used for deep learning. Use a GeForce GPU for three dimensional stuff!

Nice review, we've learn't 94 FPS on average in GTA 5 @ 4k is unnecessary as it's capped @ 60hz anyway & clearly not worth the $3000 price tag. I believe its safe to say the Titan V will run certain titles above 144 FPS maxed settings @ 1440p and well above 200FPS @ 1080p which will surely be outperformed by a 20xx series graphics card (for gaming) next year or at the latest 2019 for a 1/3 of the price.

That'll never happen because GTA V's engine breaks down beyond 188 FPS or so. Cap the game at 144 FPS if you want a smooth, playable experience.

Coil whine does happen on anything with a coil. I do understand that. However it can be mitigated, sometimes by a fair bit.
However they have done nothing to help the situation. It's a 3k card, it's not a cheap 1050ti.

I just got an ad featuring Linus on a Linus video.
