- Check out this Testor's 1971 Cuda. Is this a Jo-Han kit in disguise? It's newer than you might think from 1997! Take a look at what is inside.

I had no idea that even existed. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
They were not selling very well 25 years ago….and I passed on them every time….stupid me…. The body is excellent! The Dana 60 appears to be to the right scale dimensions. Very appreciated vid!👍
I like the kit. Not the best box art and kind of expensive.
@@TheMuscleCarModeler nice kit bash opportunities with the 1/25 revell, I say.
“Excellant” lol learn how to spell!
Very cool unboxing and back story. Lookin forward to this one!
Thanks. This one has no plans at the moment. I have many others that I want to build.
It's a cool kit I built it into a GMK Godzilla cuda with custom decals and craft paint mettalic green 2k clear, wired the engine with dual mags and deleted the front metal axle made my own engine mounts and filled hole in engine block...still have a few Johan cudas left to build they are cool old kits.
Sound nice. I like these kits but just don’t have any plans for this one. I’ll probably hold onto it till something strikes my fancy.
I have a couple of Johan editions of this kit….you were certainly able to build some beautiful Sox and Martin Cudas out of these kits!
Thank you!
One of my favorite model kits I put mine in the Johan Sox and Martin box
Cool!
Wasn’t aware of that kit. It is a very interesting kit. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
For me, this was a perfect subject for an unboxing. Like you, I always gave these kits a pass on Hobby shop shelves due to a combination of uninteresting box art, simplicity/ low parts count, and the relative expense of the kits. Although I knew all Testors were reboxes, I never gave it enough thought to think that this was a Jo-Han Sox & Martin Car. Your video generated enough interest, that if I saw a deal on this kit, I would consider picking it up. Thanks for providing the "recipe" for cooking up an historic Super Stock racer. The Jo-han '71 'Cuda Grill is so much better than the Monogram isn't it?
Very cool. Yes it doesn’t look like much from the box and presentation.
Very cool. Love the tires👍
The BFGs are cool but I don’t like the metal wheels. Original ones are cool!
Great history lesson on that kit. Didn't they do to Comet as well. That would be cool if you have that one.
Don’t have any of the comets.
The did an AMC Rambler also.
Cool stuff. I remember the Testor's hobby shop only kits (HSO). Some extra info for you, according to the model car diectory by Bill Coulter & Bob Shelton. Johan 1971 Sox & Martin Barracda was released in 1976 kit # GC-1800. Also listed in this book is a 1992 release Johan 1971 Plymouth Barracuda Pro Street Kit # S-1001. Thanks for the kit review.
Thanks for that info. The first release in 76 makes sense to me.
1992!? 😮 That must have been one of the last releases from the original Johan.
I remember these being on the hobby lobby shelves back a couple of decades ago.I built the JoHan kit in the eighties when it rererereleased, terrible decals, typical JoHan flash. It's one of the oldest built kits I still have. I know I painted the stripes because of the lousy decals. Also, the decal's registry was way off. Like a blind person stamped each color.
I was not a fan of the decals either.
I have the Testor’s SC/Rambler, missing the metal wheels. One of their last hurrahs, I’d say.
I have a few of them but have not built them.
I had that. I painted it, worked on it and disposed of it.
Ok. Didn’t go well?
thanks for the video!
My pleasure!
I remember that version, but never bought it,i did buy the 70'Olds kit and thinking the pewter wheels were ugly as hell! and still haven't built it yet!
I know what you mean. I still have one unbuilt 70 442 myself.
Cool kit .. as much as i love the cuda . I always despise the chassis. im not a fan of the metal axles. I end up swapping chassis on it or just making my own. The hemi engine builds up real nice after filling in the holes. Thanks for the video
Very cool. What chassis did you use?
Cool 👍
Thanks!
Definitely a cool kit
The wheel option was interesting
Love that intake carb setup
Thanks 👍. I myself always liked the original wheels and not the metal ones.
I have two of the Testor's kits in my stash.
Very cool.
Wow, never knew that existed. Makes me wonder who actually has the molds for that kit. If they even still exist. Over the holidays I scooped up a sealed Jo-Han version and it was in very good shape. Minimal flash and the windows were nice.. 👍
Very cool. I haven’t had much luck with windows on this kit. Seems most of the ones I got had marks.
No longer exists. The people who worked for Seville destroyed/stole all the existing molds due to lack of payment.
If they exist I would think testers would have it.
Johan mold, I believe. Testors also released in other boxes. They also did the Comet.
They had a few but I just can’t remember them all.
I think a AMC scrambler as well
I remember seeing those for sale back in the mid nineties up in Timmins Ontario, Can't recall the name of the store though.
How time flies!
I have the JOhAN sox and martin from when I was young around 1986
Cool. Mine is from back then but I barely started it. Lost a few parts back then. I finally finished it around 2010.
Funny what got labeled as a 'pro street ' kit in the 90s lol😊
Yes! Pro street had run its course and was dying off.
I just so happen to have one
Nice!
Would like to see u do a build on vid.
What specifically do you want to see?
Nice😅
Thanks 😅
@@TheMuscleCarModeler your welcome 😁
They were Johan kits with crappy pot-metal wheels!
Yes but still had the original wheels and tires.
Those were GARBAGE!!!
The wheels? Yes but glad the original ones still came with it.
