@@MagentaDinosaursas someone who doesn’t interact with aussies regularly, he had me fooled. But I only heard him talk in like short TikTok’s. And he posted those so he probably rehearsed them to sound as aussie as possible.
I worked with a bunch of Filipina nurse and none of them sounded like that...?

I dated someone like him but the even more insane part was his family was in on the lies. He had a whole fiance while dating me & all his family & friends played along with him with his lies. Even his kids pretended to be his siblings. I spend weekends with his family. He tried to get he to move in with them. I wondered why woukd they participate in his lies....probably cause he was wealthy & they were reliant on staying in his good graces to get his financial support.
My family & friends would never ever vouch lies for me or be my co-conspirators. I pay my moms property taxes & she will NEVER. It blew my mind. Why? How? It will never makes sense to me how there are ppl like than in this world & how do they find each other. 😢

Confession, I fake my accent when I was younger. However, the reason why I did it was because the roomate was looking for an European roomate. I liked the apartment so much I fake it. Then it got worse because that roomate keep introducing me to really cool people that became really good friends. It honestly was so hard for me to keep faking. I was afraid I could loose the friends and the apartment. It’s just one of those lies that are not worth it.

53:50 Brittany I totally agree that most people are capable of change but something I've really had to come to terms with certain people in my life is that wanting someone to get help or to change is not going to be enough they have to want it themselves and do it themselves. It's a sad but also liberating feeling when you keep trying to push someone to change and then you finally realize you can't and that it's not on you to do it for them.

i lived in this dorm in college in the early 2000s that was mostly international students\* and one of the dudes who i ended up hanging out with quite a bit was this korean guy who grew up in brunei who went by john. short for john wayne. (he'd started the year out wearing a cowboy hat everywhere but realized that was a little weird fairly quickly). it was close to his korean name but i'm not gonna dox him or anything. anyways, hsi parents were part of the korean diplomatic staff to the sultanate of brunei, and he'd grown up there and absolutely _despised_ the place. it had done a number on him, that's for sure, because he had a hell of a drinking problem. me and a friend ended up smoking him out for the first time ever just to see if he might like something a little less self destructive and right before he took his first hit, he turned to us and sorta semi-shouted:
**YOU KNOW, IN BRUNEI, IF THEY CATCH YOU SMOKING MARIJUANA THEY WILL CANE YOU IN THE ASS WITH A METAL ROD UNTIL THEY SEE YOUR MUSCLE.**

53:54 yes, this! I don’t want to think badly of people. It makes me feel overwhelmingly guilty for thinking negatively of someone. I watch myself not hold people accountable, because I would be devastated if I were wrong about someone. Definitely one of the things I’m working on in therapy! 😂
