  • ADV! That’s the word that gets people perked up these days. Adventure motorcycles are usually built to last, can be taken anywhere and most of the time, leave a lasting impression. Varun Painter dons the hat of a dealer who entertains a super confused Raunak and on the table are 5 motorcycles. Starting off with the KTM 390 Adventure, we move on to the 250 Adventure, the BMW G310GS and finish this off with the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the Hero Xpulse.     Xpulse 200 makes the most sense.
    Its not an adv. More like a dualsport.
    Most ppl in india can afford it, you can thrash it, and if u wanna primarily learn off-roading while doing city commutes, i think it makes perfect sense.

      Yes. But what doesn't make sense is Hero's after sales service. They can only sell pansions and splendours.

      @@Renaissance861 I am not officially qualified to comment on this as i dont own one. But i have never heard bad reviews regarding service from xpulse owners. They were mostly satisfied. I think what makes it really good is the no. Of service touchpoints. There are plenty of them since splendors and passions sell a lot. So if your bike breaksdown, im pretty sure the service centre would be much more accessible when compared to other brands.

      @@nikhilkamdi2727 it's not about the service per se. But my ownership experience of the Impulse was pretty bad when it came to the availability of spares. Even tyres were not easily available. The Hero dealers won't bother if you couldn't find suspension or side stand replacement. Would rather go for Himalayan despite of the RE unreliability infamy!

      Problem with xpulse is that it has no top end..
      So out on the highway...
      It struggles at 90-95kmph

    Xpulse should be recognized more as Dual Sport than ADV imo or from the perspective of an Dual Sport :)

    Very creative Power drift! I loved the video. Great acting prowess displayed by Varun and company as well. Coming to the topic at hand, I see the Xpulse as a dual sport motorcycle and not an ADV. But in the ADV category, my personal choice would be the Himalayan. It's simple engine and cost of maintenance are definitely attractive.

      Is it BS6? If yes, what is first service cost? I heard it's about 6K and not worth it.

      @@sumitwadile9920 Mine is BS4. Yes, basic 'general service' will cost around 6K.
      It's worth or not depends on the individual. Few factors I can share:
      * For this bike, the service interval is only for every 10,000 kms. In that case, 6K won't be a big deal. Earlier I owned R15 and I used to give it for service every 3000 kms and it used to cost around 1.5 to 2K. You decide
      * Though few parts from TVS (RR310) and KTM can match this, there are few others only we will get it in BMW. We can import, but still some parts are not so common as compared to Kawasaki

    Xpulse 200 here makes more sense than other bikes, himalayan is heavy and underpowered, ktms are expensive, bmw is nothing but semi faired version of g310, and then there is xpulse which is great for newbie like me who wants to learns offroad and use it as commuter as well , cheap service and spare parts, also it is capable of of touring. So i will pick xpulse

      The only thing the Xpulse lacks is power. Too underpowered for the highway and not enough pep to be fun to ride. The Himalayan despite its weight covers that area but the price and weight are a bit much now.

Once i am experience then sure i will check these big fellas

      2. xsr 155
      3. nmax 155 maxi scooter (international version)
      4. aerox 155 scooter (international)
      5. yamaha wr155r dirt bike (international)
      6. Yamaha tricity 155(3 wheeler international)
      There's a huge difference when engine is mounted to faired and naked design..kawasaki, honda, yamaha, HD all develop their engine for multiple platform...

    I will go for the BMW and not 390, because more GC, better at lower revs and better quality and fit-n-finish; and because I don't like the aesthetics and feel of KTMs (poor me I know haha) and not that experienced to exploit or need higher power. Yes, in spite of being aware it's actually a TVS with only the BMW design and badge.

    Just did Ladakh trip on adv 390 with pillion….from my experience of 4K kms in a month and mostly off roads and broken roads…it is the best bike u can own if touring is the priority specially with pillion comfort….we could manage the longest saddle time of 17hrs in a day from Sarchu to Chandigarh with just 90kms of highway and more than 400kms off-road or broken roads

    ADV's are dangerous, after spotting a pothole /speed breaker i calculate I can glide over this one at a certain speed in a suitable gear but then the autorickshaw driver in the front literally stops to go through over🥵🥶

    Xpulse 200 make's seance but Himalayan can be practical. Because when you are traveling you need to carry luggage with you. So higher displacement makes seance to me.

    You can't really choose best out of all these, everyone has their own pros and cons but I think Himalayan is a great balance between all.

      xpulse is the best. it can conquer any terrain but getting to the terrain is the only issue.

      @@brendonfernandes2877 I know, the only thing that restricted me to choose Hero X pulse was its smaller engine, if hero releases a 350 or 400 cc version of X Pulse it would be a great package.

    ADVENTURE 390 has everything an ADV needs 👍, but at the same time the CLASS of HIMALAYAN 🤘 is the best in class and looks more towards offroad world 🌎, so the choice is yours? Features or class?👍
