The fact that Theo James' career survived this trilogy makes him divergent.
Shailene Woodley's career also survived Divergent, so Theo James is not alone on this.

Like me, they thought the first movie was so terrible that the studio wouldn't bother making another one. What? This is the third one. Thy made 3 of these!

To me the sad part is I've seen all the movies and I still don't know what the big deal of being Divergent is.
it lets you unlock the box that tells you that there's something beyond the wall. I call it the Obvious Box. Ironically they were killing divergent in the first movie, so that doesn't make sense either...

If I remember the books, a Divergent is someone with repaired DNA - or, a normal person...
Being Divergent is place holder for anything that could place you outside a societal norm,
It’s basically an allegory for extreme conservatism conform
To our ideals or be delt with , in the case of the Divergent books , you are likely become factionless or discretely kill or it will look like you just disappeared one day
This is why you should never follow a trend
Like splitting a movie in two parts
And that not all books need a movie
And filming something that is not in the source.
Or go with post-nuclear idea to explain dystopian society.

I didn't actually remember watching this movie until halfway through this video.
The behind the scenes is crazy, they straight up left this movie to die.
I do remember seeing this second sequel and thinking that the first sequel was entirely unnecessary. (An entire kill and fetch quest just to learn that there is something beyond the wall worth checking out. well duh.) This actually moves the larger plot forward. Shame they didn't finish it.
What exactly would the 4th movie have been about? I read the novel's plot synopsis and don't see how they stretch what comes after the 3rd movie to an entire movie, at least not without either making stuff up or being super boring.
@@magicmulder well, taking onto account how 3rd movie is mostly made up, they've just kept the outline of the novel, 4th could've been about literally anything ))))
I’ve always loved when books etc. are like “there is something beyond x, don’t look got there” and everyone is like “sure!”
It’s like, have you met people? No more sure fire way to make sure of people doing x thing than by telling them not to do x thing.

i distinctly recall tris dying in the book and quite honestly i wish they'd stayed faithful. would've been infinitely more interesting than whatever this was.
The way they raise their elbows to fight will never not make me die of laughter.
This thing clearly has much bigger problems than what I'm pointing out, but at 1:38, this is *not* the way you execute someone, unless you're also trying to execute three or four of the random bystanders mobbed not two feet behind your target as well!
Thank you for completing the franchise. In a world full of unfinished Marvel projects and cancelled post production DC projects. You are a beacon of hope.

I'm only realizing after watching this that I never saw this movie. I thought i did, but I think I was just thinking of the visuals I made up in my head when reading the book. I definitely would've remembered them NOT killing Tris
I used to laugh when Four says "Mom?" when Naomi Watts comes out, but I realized that the actors really are far enough apart in age to be mother and son. Anyways, they did the cast dirty trying to move the sequel to television. Good on them they said no.
Only if she was a teen mum, they have a 16 year age gap. She was born 1968 and him 1984.

I recently re-read the first two books because I’d never read Allegiant. I haven’t seen the film yet because I wanted to read it first. I knew what happened at the end but not how they got there, but omg it took ages to get through it because it dragged. I actually really liked the first book and film though

Well, depending on how they were going to take it in comparison to the books, I’m kind of glad we didn’t get the book ending.

Typically one doesn't truly manipulate variables in a genuine experiment until absolutely none of the normal methods have produced the desired result but it's discovered they could be simulated with the proper divergence.
The first movie was great and then it quickly went downhill lol I love that this is finally coming around though!

You should do The Creator, I think you will have fun with the amount of things in it that apparently don't change in 40 years, although we can make super space/airships. Oh and sending troops outside of the big tank, just to get shot, rather than stay inside the big tank. Sooooo many time I thought of things you would pull them up on :)))))
#59 9:17 - I should point out that a drone with such advanced tech would have called him by the real name. Not by his designation. We've also seen robots that can break down every single data down to what your blood type is and who your parents were.
I’m surprised it went as far as it did, I hated the divergent movie. I truly didn’t think it reflected the book at all. It diluted everything and made it into something it wasn’t.
I think that the success of the first The Hunger Games movie prompted the producers to do another popular science fiction book series.
I wish the part where it was explained the candor make people take truth serum as their initiation so that people do not have secrets to lie about was included. I wonder how many people's bank accounts were accessed from that ?

I've done a lot of stream-of-consciousness writing in my day, but I usually go back and uh....edit? I love CinemaSins because they can poke fun at little nitpicky things one might not notice, but this entire movie was awash with plot-holes and continuity errors to the point I think they just said F it, whatever. Make it loud and flashy.

I saw all these films and can not remember what happened in any of them... and I keep mixing up this franchise and Maze Runner, which both involved a lot of running over wastelands and were basically the same story... At least society seems to be moving past the need to make nearly identical teenage dystopia films.

I have never read the books the franchise is based on, I will say this much though - The movies made me interested in reading them! I guess that is something good for the Movies that can be said... I mean, I have watched them - I did enjoy them... But they were disjointed and many things that CinemaSins have said about the previous movies... Yeah, They are 100% right... They did not translate the idea of "Divergent" well to the screen...
... I mean, The Main Character is Divergent and does not fit any assigned path but chooses an assigned path... Isn't that just Free Will??? Is that what teh books are about? They removed free Will and everyone has a Designated role in life... If so the movies do a GOD AWFUL JOB of explaining that!

It’s amazing how dominant YA dystopian boos and movies were for a brief moment only to completely become irrelevant and forgotten. I remember when 90% of content on “booktube” was dystopian YA. Now people cringe at the mere mention of it. The Divergent book series was better than the movies, though.

The biggest sin of this franchise was thinking they could completely ignore the end of the book series it was based off of and try to extend this movie into a sequel TV series and think that fans would be happy about that. Now it is in cliffhanger hell.
