The guy who you thought might be a Judge is actually Shane Filan from Ireland, and she was singing this song as a tribute to him. He is one of the founding members of Internationally known Boy band, Boyzone, who have been around for literally forever, and still going strong !! He was the original singer of this song which was composed and written by another Irishman and a Norweigan. So Hyang is incomparable and mesmerizing, and your review was excellent gaining you an easy Sub for me. Cheers from Ireland.

God gave her the strength to push through. She actually does alot of performances sick. I read about it from her Korean fans that follow her on the Korean tv shows.

She is is a very famous gospel singer from Korea. I think this was performed in Korea. She is also a survivor. Read her story, very inspirational. I wish one day she and Dimash can sing together.

She said prior to this stage that this performance tells her personal story, presumably about her faith. Sohyang said that she considers each one of her performance is one before God. This competition show is a Korean program that invites established singers to compete each week based on a general theme. The artists are asked to re-interpret the song with their personal take. This episode is Shane Filan Special. The guy you suspected to be the judge is actually Shane Filan, a member of the Irish Boy Band Westlife. Westlife also had "You Raise Me Up" as a hit in Great Britain. This is the reason why Sohyang picked to perform this song.

There is a rich catalog of her songs on CZcams. I am one of her legion of fans, she is acknowledged internationally as one of the greatest vocalists on the world today. Her main influences were Whitney, Mariah, Cion and others. She keeps good company with them and while I can recommend a few of her songs here it can be more rewarding to just put her name in the search and discover her for yourself. If you want to be taken to church then sohyang is your girl. Her immaculate vocals allow to adapt to any genre,rock,pop,blues/jazz,the ballads, & she can rap but her heart is in gospel. She also does the arrangements for all her performances. She is a published author of fiction & university lecturer.
This was not a competition that goes on for a number of weeks with a winner at the end. This show is more or less the same concept as 'i am a singer' in china that first exposed Dimash to the world. Firstly,all the competitors are already established, but each week is a competition in its own right,there is usually a theme for that week & there are votes & a winner at the end of show. The line up also can change & sohyang didn't take part in every episode of that season. For example, 'you raise me up' was chosen by sohyang because the theme of that week was songs by the irish boyband Westlife,who had a massive hit all over Europe & Australia with this song, & the guy the camera kept going to that you commented was maybe a judge was the guest of honour as he is Shane Filan,the lead singer of the band. Other noteable performances from this series are her singing:
'Bridge over troubled water' - I believe the theme was 'classic english/US pop songs'
'Lean on me' - it was songs of michael bolton week & he was in the audience & her performance was so amazing it literally rendered him speechless when the host went to him for his comments. When he regained his composure he simply said 'that was spectacular' & went on to tell her how he thought she'd taken the role of 'virtuoso'
'Arirang alone' - tradition week & she turned a very simple korean folk song in to an 'anthem'
'Everyone' - I think this was an anything goes week (not too sure) but this is regarded by many as her masterpiece, 7.5 of vocal genius that will take you to church so many times you'll be dizzy. Sohyang herself said that this was the hardest song for her to perform,simply because of the duration with so few places to breathe. I suggest that you find a version with subtitles if you want the max as a christian because she goes back & forth between eng/kor (try vimeo), although not havin subs will not spoil your enjoyment of her performance.
These performances were 2015-2017 I believe & were many peoples introduction to sohyang outside korea. She's not exactly know for flooding the market with performances & has experienced regular bouts of illness but she has actually been involved in many things during the pandemic which has given us more amazing material for us to sit 'open mouthed' to & she apppears to have had a couple of years where for once,her health had been good & oh boy have we noticed,not only does she look fantastic but she sounds better than ever ( she was actually sick during the performance you have just watched.she was advised by the doctor not to perform as she hadn't yet recovered from pneumonia, but she didn't want to disappoint the audience,so she sang. I didn't know at the time that she was ill but I knew she wasn't at her best & she looked tired & like she'd lost weight in her face & although still an amazing performance, I think it lacks something,I dont know what,but there was just something about it that didn't put it on the same level as the other songs I've given you. Some people may think i'm crazy but when sohyang herself has set the bar so high, a slightly 'not 100% magical' performance is noticeable to someone who has probably heard 90% of her catalogue, but thats irrelevant because in the end its just a matter of personal preference, I still love the song, I love every sohyang performance.

Concept of this show is to bring lyricists/producers/singers/sometimes int’l musicians of music (guests) from yester-years and contestants (already famous and not-so-famous singers/musicians/bands) must rearrange guest’s famous songs and perform them and audience votes.

Ohhhh if you're a man of faith you're in for a treat. Sohyang does not sing for money or fame. She only sings for God's glory. Her entire life is devoted to lifting the spirits of everyone who gets to hear her sing. She spent a lot of time in the US learning the art of American gospel music and she's one of the best gospel singers out there. I'm a big fan of her gospel songs. Listen to "Everyone" with subtitles, and Amazing Grace. Brings tears to my eyes, and I'm not even Christian!

Her life is so inspirational.. she is devout christian singer who really more like singing to God more than fame/money which make us not much seen her on media/tv in korea even the world stage though she is worldclass singer vocalist ever!! Yet we can ussually see her more often her singing in church or charities. She won from faught with cancer and kept her singing didnt give up in her illness. She is cancer surviver.and to sohyang, her goal is to use her voice to comfort people who are going through difficult times as she been through, these why ppl are emotionally in touch whenever she sing a song....

Sohyang= a Christan and also a gospel singer she a cancer survivor and is 43 years and she arranged all her songs by herself and teaches music and writes fantasy novels with succes.She sings for people in sorrow and not for fame or fortune. I was hoping you mentioned or knew before hand, that during this performance,
she had pneumonia. She left to go to the Hospital that day before going on
stage, and the Dr told her not to speak, yet she pushed ahead, with weak lungs
and a bad throat, and still did well. I could tell that highest note for her
was not a strong as she wanted, but she did the best she could.
Sohyang does not like to let her fans down. You might keep her illness in mind,
and think about what her lungs and throat were like, and watch it again.
Nobody else like SoHyang.
She is a Cancer survivor And still gets sick from Time to time. But is an Amazing Artist who gave up a Kpop career

When you see that performance, you will discover that Sohyang is a devout Christian. She began her musical journey singing Gospel music. She does her own arrangements - orchestra, chorus, music, staging. When you see her on a stage, that is ALL her.
As would be seemly for a young man with the sincere testimony that I heard, at some point you should have been struck by the fact that you were actually watching a Christian lady with an angelic voice who was singing her heart out, and a great heart it is - she was giving HER testimony.
I kept waiting for you to respond with a measure of reverence for what you were seeing, and to stop the incessant interruptions (at really important places) to pause and chuckle and pause and chuckle.
But no, it seems that you derived amusement from the faces in the audience, but not a glimmer of blessing from Sohyang's brilliant performance.

Immortal singers in South Korea!! All competition but, all singers are professionals. China does the same thing. They had "I Am A Singer" and then changed it to just SINGER!! It is kind of neat because they are all good. When you watch Lean On Me you will see a kid with metal in his face, that's Jay Park, a great singer then you will see short-haired Lena Park, and then "AILEE" who sings the best version of I Will Always Love You outside of Dolly Parton. Love the tension of seeing finally who they think is best!! Immortal Songs 2 last one to sing was So Hyang and she won the contest, not on that song alone, but the whole bunch to get to the last song. Yes, it was a Special Korean concert just for Michael Bolton!!

Then put in Simple Passion!! He is by far the best singer on earth. By the way, So Hyang is the best female. They are both "EARTH ANGELS" showing up at this time to heal some souls. Quickly let me tell you about So Hyang (pronounce the "A" in yang as an "O") She's now 42, when she was 20 21 she had ovarian and uterine cancer and survived. SONY has tried for 15 years to sign her. She won't do it. She sings for the heart, soul, and comfort of the people!! During that bad time, she got Hepatitis B from bad needles and has to put up with pneumonia. You Raised Me Up, the Docter told her no high notes!! So much for that!!
