Hispanic Heritage Music Event.
Established by legislation sponsored by president Lyndon Johnson in 1968, the Hispanic heritage month is annually celebrated from September 15 to October 15 in the United States for recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements for the United States.
Colombian/American Classical pianist Dr. Alvaro Puig is a physician with training in Internal medicine/Hospital Medicine and Endocrinology practicing in the DMV area since 2012. He was gifted with a family of musicians. He initiated piano studies being a child in his home Country Colombia. He has performed in multiple stages and music festivals in Colombia and the United States combining his medical profession with community social works. Dr. Puig has great interest in the classical composers of Latin America, and always promotes this type of music in his performances. He has recorded solo piano albums of Classical Colombian music with his own transcriptions and arrangements. He is married to dentist Claudia Ardila who plays and performs the organ and the accordion with him.
Dr. Claudia Ardila is a Colombian/American dentist with vast experience as a didactic educator, teacher, clinical instructor, and mentor of various dental clinical trials and research protocols. Claudia was born into a family of musicians. She grew up immersed in the world of traditional Latin American music and plays various instruments including the organ, accordion, and piano.
Dr. Ardila has actively worked in favor of social activities with various public entities.
Currently, she has his private practice in Fairfax County, Virginia.
The Music for this venue includes representative music from different Hispanic countries including Spain, Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, and Argentina.
