  • Since the birth of civilization, people have lived in Himachal Pradesh. It has a long and interesting history that can be broken down into numerous periods.
Around 2 million years ago, man lived in the Himalayan foothills, specifically in Kangra's Bangana valley, Nalagarh's Sirsa valley, and Sirmour's Markanda valley. People from the Indus valley civilization, which thrived between 2250 and 1750 B.C., lived in the state's foothills. The ancient occupants of the Ganga plains, known as Kolorian people, were driven north by people from the Indus valley civilization. They relocated to Himachal Pradesh's highlands, where they could live in solitude and maintain their traditional lifestyle.
They are known as Dasas, Dasyus, and Nishadas in the Vedas, and Kinnars, Nagas, and Yakshas in later literature. The Kols or Mundas are thought to be the first settlers in the Himalayan slopes.
The Bhotas and Kiratas, a Mongoloid group, were the second wave of migrants. The third and most significant wave of immigration arrived later, in the shape of Aryans fleeing Central Asia. These were the foundations of Himachal Pradesh's history and culture.
