This was a top-notch run-through tutorial. I have the original Kickstarter and the v1 rulebook leaves a lot to be desired. Between that v1 rulebook and the initial state of the v1 app at launch, I made three attempts to play the game the first month before giving up. After watching this and knowing there is a v2 beta app available to use, I'm diving back in this weekend (via walking the plank, of course) !! I'm excited to play and am hopeful my experience is positive enough to go back the additional Kickstarter faction ... all because this rules-run-through is so awesome. Thank You !!!!!!
This video definitely tipped the scales for me - I picked up a copy of the core from a local seller. My wife and I played it with these instructions and we're sold! Backing the new KS already!
Wow.. one of the best instructions video I've seen in years! Excellent job... and I love this game, played it more than 10 times already and never realised the Items and Relics are separate... finally some captain abilities make sense to me, thank you!

The player aid was misprinted in the base game (they're fixing it, i believe, in the upgrade pack available through this latest campaign). i thought the only issue with that aid was that the icons were mixed up, but our first two plays, we misinterpreted earning notoriety, because the card said you can get notoriety from conquering ports, when it should have said *certain* ports! (Only the ports with a red flag get you points.) That, and the item/relic thing (along with the concept that all ports are Spanish by default) were the biggest rules hangups we had. But massively fun game if you survive those snafus.
@@NightsAroundaTable Right. The rules were all over the place at the start, but with new rules, the aids and FAQ, we are at much better place now. My biggest problem now is the level of English in the new app :D with all the fancy words, I'm not sure what is even happening sometimes. But the app is still work in progress, so maybe some sentences just don't make sense in general and I'm not so dumb after all :D
It depends on how legalistic you want to be. You can go with a "die laid, die played" kind of approach, but honestly, Sea of Legends ain't chess. The rulebook's first words about dice manipulation are "Pirates don't play fair!" You can assign your dice in any order, and you really want to goof around with them to eke out the best number possible. The rules that are the most strident are these: 1. You can't add dice to your pool after you've rolled 2. Dice can't do double-duty 3. Activating a card draw ability has to be done in one shot, not piecemeal 4. Leave nemesis dice until the end (and you can't conveniently ignore nemesis dice, unless you've gutted your rival's powers through adventuring!)

The 105th pirate themed game of the year... how exciting 🙄 this knight is my favorite tutorial guy, though. Professional top notch and funny... but this game, man... zero originality.

v2 beta is still buggy, but i found the writing sillier and more fun than in the first! (And the first was pretty silly and fun!)

Thanks, Andrew! You can move "up to" your movement amount, which means you can move zero spaces.
At 17:50 why do you have "wiggle room" to break the rule? Is the die assigned to the captain or not??
