What a sweet kid....He's so polite and good- natured It's nice to see that Hollywood didn't change him, especially since kids aren't really like that anymore. He seems like such a nice boy.
"Hollywood" rarely changes any of them. Alot of them come from fucked up families and they finally get a break from that and tend to handle it poorly. Also, kids are still like that. They're the same as they've always been. You just hate kids now because the news tells you to
Mel Oliveira Don't know Portuguese sorry but he talks about being a normal kid at the public school and he wants people to treat him as such. He says that on the bridge stuntmen were acting when they did the side shots as it was too dangerous to have kids on the bridge. He said when he was running in front of the train it was special effects that made him look closer than he really was otherwise it would have been dangerous too.
Does anyone else find it funny how he was able to be in one of the most well known movies of the 20th century yet right after he was able to go back to regular school and be a regular kid again
The other 3 kids were already big stars. Jerry was the new guy. Plus he was and still is in movies today. He was Joe in Joe's apartment. And he was the lead in kangaroo jack
Awh little Jerry! Those cute little cheeks! For saying Stand by Me was his first piece of real acting his performance was brilliant! I miss River so much💛 he was phenomenal should have won an Oscar.
Parental Guardian Yes, only you never expect a young man person with their entire life ahead of them to suddenly pass away. I remember the night he died and how they played the phone call of his younger brother Leaf calling for help over and over again. I really felt for Leaf and the entire Phoenix family at the time.
River Phoenix had an extremely unusual and messed up upbringing. His family often had him and his siblings performing on the street corners so they could have money to eat for the night. They were even part of a religious cult for a brief period and the cult did messed up things to river
Fox Teen - I found out through having kids and observing their schoolmates that this is quite common. The boys seem to chubb out around 11 and a couple years later they start growing like weeds and lose the baby fat. Jerry is such a cutie.
Met him once in NYC not too long after Stand By Me came out. (He’s the same age as me). He was humble and friendly. My sister also met him as an adult a couple of years ago and said he couldn’t have been nicer. This video is not an act. Hollywood did not change him. Just an all-around good guy.
Omgoodness! I had no idea he played Vern in Stand By Me! Great movie! WOW! Can’t believe that was Jerry! Loved him in Crossing Jordan. It was great to see this! Thanks!
I just watched the movie for the first time and it's hard to connect Jerry O'Connell the kid to the adult, but this interview helps since he has thinned out a little here. The missing link! He has such a cute voice with the lisp.
He seems to be pretty grounded! Going to public school instead of private, plus he seems to accept that he's a normal kids who happened to make a movie and then go back to school, etc. I'm sure judging by his manners and attitude that his family doesn't treat him like a star or tolerate rude behavior. He's so sweet, kind, polite and appears happy!
Always been a fan of Jerry. He has stayed grounded through the years. It’s kind of irritating that the host tells him he’s not “normal.” Child stars are people like anyone else.
If he looked this good in Stand By Me, he mighta been my favorite character instead of the least😂. But then "Spit at the fat kid! Real good!" wouldn't of fit lol.
What show is this? "Uncle Bryant's Clubhouse"?Don't get me wrong, sweet interview but it looks like it was filmed on a camcorder in Bryant Gumbel's basement and probably first shown between Saturday Morning Cartoons.
@Vanechalyssa care is no longer cares much fat in your diet from 18 years and we have to watch our diet or begin to gain and much EscucharLeer fonéticamente
What do you mean kids aren't like that anymore, there isn't that much of a difference between kids from the 80's, and kids from today, kids in the 80's were disrespectful just as much as today, it's just hot worse today, people started acting cool in the 50's (greasers) the 60's got worse (hippies), in the 40's and back the youger generation was respectful, but I would agree that more parents supported the school system back in the 80's than what they do today, but we need our cojntry to be like
lol but you spend long enough in an abnormal environment (entertainment) - you will become abnormal. River Phoenix died from a drug overdose at a Hollywood club. Corey Feldman was a drug addict within a couple of years of SBM, was sexually molested by multiple men in the entertainment industry. Wil Wheaton - think he got off scott free? Nope - that Hollywood environment changed him into a selfish egotistical asshole who had no desire to emotionally connect with anyone - by his own admission. And here we have the one kid - who stayed out of the industry for the rest of his childhood. That’s how he stayed normal.
What a sweet kid....He's so polite and good- natured It's nice to see that Hollywood didn't change him, especially since kids aren't really like that anymore. He seems like such a nice boy.
They act. Funny be fooled. He seems more genuine than others. But funny get it twisted. They act. Always

my biggest flex is he knew my mom and aunt 🤭🤭 and my uncle cause he was a grip
Check out McCauley Culkin these days. Seems so down to earth e.g. on Joe Rogan, although he was out of the spotlight for a while.
The whole time I was just hearing little Corey Feldman's voice in my head like "C'mon Verno!"
OMG. Same. Lol
Someone please could write some things that he says because I am from Brazil and I do not know what he speaks

Tanker you very much 💞
Does anyone else find it funny how he was able to be in one of the most well known movies of the 20th century yet right after he was able to go back to regular school and be a regular kid again
Not really, no
His parents didn’t sign the deal 🤦🏾♀️ everyone else’s parents did!
What deal? Plus I bet he was star struck working with the cast bc they were already famous
The other 3 kids were already big stars. Jerry was the new guy. Plus he was and still is in movies today. He was Joe in Joe's apartment. And he was the lead in kangaroo jack
His father advised him not to tell anyone he made the film bec if its not released, he would look ridiculoud
Awh little Jerry! Those cute little cheeks! For saying Stand by Me was his first piece of real acting his performance was brilliant! I miss River so much💛 he was phenomenal should have won an Oscar.
He so adorable
It's sad knowing River is gone now.
+Sasha Bowman I know
Sasha Bowman it makes me feel so sad 😭

@Parental Guardian yea he was so young. that's why. plus it could have been avoided.
River Phoenix had an extremely unusual and messed up upbringing. His family often had him and his siblings performing on the street corners so they could have money to eat for the night. They were even part of a religious cult for a brief period and the cult did messed up things to river

Someone please could write some things that he says because I am from Brazil and I do not know what he speaks
Wow! The weight he has lost in just a year after filming!
Fox Teen - I found out through having kids and observing their schoolmates that this is quite common. The boys seem to chubb out around 11 and a couple years later they start growing like weeds and lose the baby fat. Jerry is such a cutie.
@@littlemom2070 Never has to worry being spat on any more. "Spit at the fat kid! Real good."
@@littlemom2070 Joaquin Phoenix is a perfect example.
Jerry talked about it in an interview - he went through a growth spurt and it balanced things out...that and cutting down on the soft drink.
His actually pretty adorable...
Mrs Crusher,Trotta,Lachance,Wheaton i love you picture soooo damn much

I just watched the movie for the first time and it's hard to connect Jerry O'Connell the kid to the adult, but this interview helps since he has thinned out a little here. The missing link! He has such a cute voice with the lisp.
Yea he seemed like a sweet person
Well he really just grew taller and didn’t really didn’t gain weight too much as he grew.
It's kinda uncanny how much he looks like his older self here. Idk why he just does. He still looks the same even today
I remember when this song came out back in 1986 I seen the movie on movie picks or movie network .
I was 15 when this movie came out
Jerry now doesn't look like he ages, he still looks like his little kid self. Those blue eyes really give him away from any actor
Such a cutie pie!
Jerry was a nice guy then, as he is now. I'm sure his parents and grandparents played a role in who he is. 💡
2:50 and normal kids don't grow up to marry super models! :) LOVE this interview! Very cute.
he’s so cute omg
Thank you SO much for this!!! I absolutely love that movie....and this is awesome and cute! Oh my goodness do you have one with River Phoenix??

"Normal kids don't ...." What a bunch of BS. Actors, especially kids, are definately normal people.
