I don't believe thats what Karen was saying. Just knowing anyones back history of how they fought to not be consumed by their struggles, can pull at a person's heart strings. Week by week, they all working hard for the dream of changing their lives. Since the public is voting it won't be judged unfairly.
@Smiley L Says the fuck WHO? It's not just her sad story - it's how she carries herself. It's called STAR POWER. People love her for everything she is and represents, including her incredible voice. There are some other artists this season who were possibly more unique, or they played an instrument or wrote their own songs, but sometimes, there is just a classically natural talent that comes along and just hits all of the right notes, chooses the right songs, and fully represents who they are, genuinely, with no shame! Those are the qualities people want to see in a star, not JUST "can they sing?" Everyone who made it into the competition in the first place could sing, but there are certain qualities one must possess to continue to move up, including how their singing and song choices make you FEEL. It just so happens that Just Sam gave us the full package this time around, which makes it feel that much better that she won. She will take this win with grace and do great things to contribute to humanity, so why complain? If the other artists on the show are determined enough, they will certainly have great futures in music too.. Doesn't matter. She won it, fair and square, and I believed in her and loved her story from day one. It's not like I didn't enjoy any of the other talents, but she was my number one all the way through and I looked forward to seeing her performances every week. They really were all great in their own ways, don't get me wrong, but I honestly can't say I consistently liked anyone else that much. She surprised me and uplifted my spirit every time.
