En Corry van Gorp in het publiek, samen met Andre, ook deel van mijn jeugd, geweldige tv-programma's maakten ze vroeger
het begin klinkt van simon and garfunkel prachtig, andre is een legende, hij kan gekke types na doen, maar ook bloed serieus en zingen als een legende die hij altijd zal blijven
The singer “Andre van Duin” is unique, one of a kind. A multi-talented but above all a COMIC. For many many years he treated the Dutch with stomachaches from laughter. He collaborated with many people, including the woman (Corry van Gorp) who is portrayed at 1 minute 1 and 3 minutes 55, this duo was together a counterpart of Laurel and Hardy. But also GOLD is Andre van Duin and Andre Rieu together on stage. The text Andre sings is officially by Jean Ferrat with the title La Montagne. In 1965 Friso Wiegersma wrote a Dutch text to the melody “Het Dorp” which was sung by Wim Sonneveld.
The text translated into English is.

Should note aswell that Wim Sonneveld was a great inspiration to André v. Duin. (And that Corrie v. Gorp worked with Sonneveld during his last show (1970-1973) before his death (1974))
Sometimes understanding the language of a song is unimportant. The music alone speaks, in the one tongue all humanity understands completely. The language of Love! ❤
I completely agree. I listen to so many foreign bands out there and it's the music that makes the song not exactly the vocals.

You know, you’re pretty spot on with your image. He’s singing about his childhood, how things were more simple then and how things are different now. The chorus roughly translates to “and by the garden path of my father’s, I saw the tall trees stand. I was a child, how could I have known, that it would go away forever”

I was born in Holland in 1950 and all your programs bring wonderful memories back to me. This song was sung by Wim Zonneveld in those days. The singer's name is Andre van Duin
He is a well known comedian, actor and singer in the Netherlands (he's kinda like the Dutch version of John Cleese).
He has made a lot of humorous and comedic songs but he also has made some serious songs.
This song was originally sung by Wim Sonneveld who died in 1974 and Andre van Duin made his own cover of this song which he sings here.
