I've been listening to and enjoying music my whole life, I play the classical guitar and the jazz-trombone and I'm going to be 79 in April.
And THIS is why concerts with Andre Rieu are so popular..its not just the music..its the comedy..the participation of ALL of his orchestra..he has brought classical music to people who had no interest in it before..a maestro indeed

At his funeral today I had requested this piece as either pre- or postlude and the organist played it to perfection on the organ.
I was in tears - both of joy and sorrow.

I've been a fan of André Rieu since I first got to know him in 2016, I was 12 back then. I've never lost my love for André Rieu or Classical music since then. The music that comes out in the 2010's and 2010's is nothing compared to this or any other masterpiece André or others have made.

Hard to imagine a group as versatile as the Johann Strauss Orchestra. A mountain dulcimer is hardly what one would expect from André Rieu.

Pim Lentz -- I was not criticizing Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra. I was praising him for constantly surprising his audience with something new and unexpected. I loved the time he introduced Heino
, one of my favorite artists, and they did Rosamunde. What fun. A mountain dulcimer is not an instrument you would normally find playing in an orchestra where the conductor plays a Stradivarius violin.

It isn't a mountain dulcimer. It's a zither. Anton Karas was found playing his zither in a Viennese wine tavern and persuaded to compose and perform the music for "The Third Man". Frederic has been performing this for years. You can find a film of him back in 1997 here, much thinner and with a moustache.
Despite all the clowning around, still a beautiful song performed on a beautiful instrument.

Ich habe mir vor einigen Monaten André Rieu entdeckt, und ich finde seine Auftritte und Shows einfach faszinierend. Viele Grüsse und viel Erfolg aus Ungarn! Ich hoffe, einmal werde ich auch unter den Zuschauern dort sitzen. Wir wissen hier leider nicht, wie lange wir noch im europäischen Kulturkreis bleiben können, da es sehr so aussieht, dass wir aus allen Klubs ausgestossen werden, in die wir vor mehr als dreissig Jahren so eifrig hineingehen wollten. Bitte urteilt nicht unüberlegt: die ungarischen Menschen sind nicht die, die die herrschende Politik, das regierende Regime heute über uns in der Welt verbreitet!
ich bin vom Jahrgang 87 und hör Andre Rieu sowas von gerne. Die Musik ist einfach super und wie er alles rüber bringt und das ganze Team, wunderbar. Es macht so Spaß zuzusehen. Egal ob hier per Video oder Live, es ist absolut sehenswert. Also wenn ich mal Heiraten werde, wäre dies das beste Geschenk an Orchestra was wir uns wünschen könnten :D Weiter so und auf ein hoffentlich baldiges Wiedersehen in der Stadthalle :D

Такие теплые воспоминания ! Лет пять назад ехали с мужем из Вены в Зальцбург, и гид, конечно, рассказывал по пути много интересного. И очень запомнилось упоминание о фильме "Третий человек", о музыке из этого фильма, о цитре, на которой эта музыка звучала. С тех пор эта мелодия одна из нежно любимых. А к оркестру Andre Rieu давняя симпатия и восхищение.
Im not sure if it's the music, or just the sheer entertainment- just reminds me of growing up listening to Henri Mancini, Herb Alpert, and being forced to watch The Lawrence Welk Show on tv as a kid......this kind of taps into that nostalga I guess. It would be so fun to go to a live show:-)
