This was one of my Mom's favorite songs, she always told us that it meant that when we have obstacles in our lives that we can't seem to get pass, that we shouldn't worry because like a bridge over trouble waters, God will help us overcome them. When God created my friend Elvis he was just showing off. I can't tell you how much i love and miss him, there is not a day that goes by that i don't think of him and all the memories we made in 10 short years, his death knocked the wind out of me i have never been the same since, Elvis was the big brother i never had. He is also my guardian angel. Graceland is my go to place when it get's to hard to live w/o my friend i go there and walk around and remember Elvis and all the beautiful times we had together. He was the only person in my life that understood me and cared about my feelings and opinions. What it comes down to is we both needed a true friend and we were that for each other. Awesome reaction. Paul Simon of Simon and Garfunkel who wrote the song (their's is the original version) said, after hearing Elvis sing this song, that Elvis' version fit the song the best and he couldn't top Elvis' version. You can't get a better complement than that.

The bridge is a metaphor for his willingness to be of assistance to the troubled friend, lover, relative or who ever it may be. The song was written and originally recorded by the duo, Simon and Garfunkel.

My Mom was a HUGE Elvis fan. I sang this to her when she was dying. She passed 2022. The funeral home put Elvis on for her. I say she's in heaven with my Dad on one arm and Elvis on the other arm. Mom was my best friend for 43 yrs. If I could've taken her place, I would have in a heart beat. I would've been her bridge if I could have.

What a fun reaction but mostly, man I knew you would enjoy that along with so many other people obviously. But I'm so happy that you checked it out. Man not only does it mean a lot of things and it shows you how incredible his band and backing vocalist are, and he arranged all that by the way, every bit of that he arranged it and there are behind the scenes footage of them working on it in practice. But at any rate, his vocal performance on that just blows me away every time. And I always believed there are just a bit of Tears mixed in with the sweat on these kinds of performances.

Hey Shon, I'd like to introduce you to another legendary artist that ran with a group of entertainers; known as the "Rat Pack" in the 1950's and early 60's. "Sammy Davis jr. - I've Got You Under My Skin/ Girl From Ipanema (Live In Germany 1985)" other artists in that group you may have heard their names mentioned, are Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin but also along with some you wouldn't have heard of before. I recendly find out that Whitney Huston song" I have nothing" lyrics was written for ELVIS by his ex girfliend Linda Tomson, and as i always liked that song, now that i know that just tooked it to the next level! You can consider to put it at ELVIS list and also antother great song "Black Velvet" by Alannah Myles that lyrics are about ELVIS (the writer inspired this song after traveling in a bus full of Elvis fans that were going to 10th Elvis memorial at Memhis) and react whenever you can.

Elvis greatest voice ever to sing.. Elvis never wrote songs but what he did do was sing everyone else's songs and arrange them to sound better then original.. Elvis would have everyone back int he day wanting him to sing their songs for instance Dolly Parton song'' I will always love you'' that was later on made famous by Whitney Houston that song Dolly said '' i made that song so Elvis would sing it but Elvis's manager wanted her to give up all rights to song and she couldnt do that so she cried her eyes out '' Elvis never got a chance to record that song
