Gary Oldman was so brilliant as James Gordon in The Dark Knight Trilogy and he was perfecly cast for the role :) . He is the best James Gordon potrayal ever .
I didn't recognize him at all as Gary Oldman in the movie! This dude's really versatile. He was a really scary maniac in the Professional, and now he's a strong, restrained character who is played beautifully. Oldman is fantastic.
If I saw the cast of this movie only without knowing who played what role, I would have guessed Oldman as Joker, Ledger as Batman/Bruce Wayne and Bale as Harvey Dent.
I find it weird how The Dark Knight Rises (and the series) is considered American. Director - Chris Nolan: British, Writer - John Nolan: British, Batman - Christian Bale: British, Comm. Gordon - Gary Oldman: British, Alfred - Michael Caine: British, Bane - Tom Hardy: British. The majority of the main cast, director and writer are British. Aside from being shot in the USA, this is basically a British movie, although the Americans and of course the Australian Joker were undeniably fantastic.
People don't give his Gordon performance anywhere near enough praise. I think alot of people think he's just playing himself when that couldn't be further from the truth. Next to the guy in the batsuit and a crazy clown, I can understand why he's overlooked, but his performance is pitch perfect and really helps ground the movie.
For now !years after heaths death! I just can say god bless his soul he was from another planet and hary is another actor who i think deserved oscar many years ago!!

Holy crap I don't ever watch interviews entirely but Gary Oldman has this charisma and charm that I watched the entire interview without even noticing.
its just so cool seing the darkknight in the news and everything it just comes up so noble when they talk about it its like this movie is in a soooo mutch better leaug than any other movie and the coolest thing about it is that it is ey batman movie.
This guy is phenomenal. True Romace, 5th element, Sid & Nancy, etc. Would be amazing if he ever teams up with the Coens. He seems like a stand-up guy to boot.

as a foreigner (from his point of view, at least) i love his accent because its so delightfully easy to translate to yourself. give me a thick geordie or scottish accent and im screwed but this? lovely, i even understand him :D

I 100% agree. The Academy give awards to in my opinion not that great performances but leave out the ones that truely deserve it. He should have been nominated and won for Dracula, Immortal Beloved, Air Force One (great villian), and The Dark Knight. He should be nominated for the Book of Eli next year.
Before seeing this interview I went through the Drexl scenes for the milionth time. Everyone should do stuff like that at least once, just to get around of what the meaning of a true amazing actor is.

Some can do good voicework and Oldman is one of them. He can practically play any role you give him. Whether it'd be some guy in a sewer, to some really awesome impression of Dracula, Oldman will play that role like he means it.

Watching the dark knight, i actually forgot he was English...its a bit odd to hear his accent in this interview.

@MrShcotty2010 In The Dark Knight? Because he has to hide his true voice. It's part of his disguise. He can't let anyone recognize him. You see, he's not like Spiderman, who wears a full body suit but doesn't change his voice at all, or like Superman, who also doesn't change his voice and only wears glasses to disguise himself. In a real world scenario, they can easily be recognized as Peter Parker and Clark Kent. But not Batman. Not with that voice.

Yeah I know, the bad actors are the ones who play themselves on screen. The whole point of an actor is to become someone else, to shed your own identity completely, to the point that the audience are looking at the character not the actor. Unfortunately the world of celibrity now rules film, and the many so called actors who appear on film these days are just self indulging in front of the camera, and whats worse they get all the credit. Gary Oldman's not like that, he's a proper actor.

wow all the interviewers on this show the men and the woman are really great .You can see that they really liked and understand the movie.
He is a really good actor, and that winning an award is nothing, but for people to acknowledge his talents is way better than recieving any award.

Gary Oldman, along with Ed Harris, are my two favorite actors. Harris isn't as versatile as Oldman, but nevertheless they are my favorites.
