Due to UPI, usage of credit card read visa and mastercard has reduced (not sure about the numbers). To top it, rupay cards has also taken a chunk out of it.
Visa and Mastercard have real fear of losing market dominance. Hence the USA angle.

UPI uses your accounts money, credit card uses bank's money.. Both are different.
Govt paying running cost and transaction cost compensation to banks (i. e. INR 1300 Cr) is not level play, but even Visa and Mcard network were born out of uneven respective Govt supported systems. supported . UPI would charge eventually, its a matter of time only. Jai Hind!
