Visited during the Coronation, from America. It was emotional being so close to Her Late Majesty albeit her physical remains. Although they do shuffle you along I took a step back from the line and stood there. Silently staring at the marble ledger stone, watching the people past by, each offering their own sign of respect. Some bowed, some curtsied and some the sign of the cross. She was The Queen to us all. A figure we didn’t know how cherished she was until she was gone. A grandmotherly aura. She is dearly missed. At least she is with her family again. 1926 - 2022
Two things come to mind. 1. How sad that when this relatively new vault and Chapel was being designed and constructed, from
the wishes of the ' We four ' late King George VI and on request of the late Queen Elizabeth II, there was not enough space provided for Princess Margaret. Margaret adored her father and had wanted to be buried next to him. Due to the compact size of the vault there was no room for a fifth coffin, so Margaret had to opt for cremation. 2. I can't help but wonder how Phillip feels being placed for eternity next to his mother in law? Apparently they didn't get on and behind his back she would refer to him as the Hun.
That was at the begining, he knew he was going to be buried there.
Perhaps Margaret preferred cremation, many people do.
Jacqueline Devonshire when it was built, Margaret was married and she would have been buried with her husband in Frogmore, it would have been sometime after the divorce in 78 that she would have asked the Queen's permission to be buried there
How to move coffin this Chappel have a door of inside a royal vallet is not remove the mable and put in to the coffine
@@rashanmadusanka466 what?
The construction of a memorial chapel to honour the courageous wartime king by the nation at St George's is wholly appropriate. Designing and constructing a modest memorial chapel in a tight corner of this historical structure is in keeping with the monarchs' humble characters. The chapel is a significant departure from the way earlier monarchs have been interned and rightly so. The chapel is a necessary memorial to two outstanding monarchs done in a way that is consistent with their beliefs and values.
And now Her Majesty and Phillip are coming to take their places there. 😭They are all gone now.

How ?
@@iamhere5957 Airplane one would assume
A little eerie, but nice.
Their bodies remain in coffins ⚰️ and they are never buried in the earth..
At 2:25 in, it looks like an outside entry of some sort with what looks like handles for stairs?
Where's the sound??
RIP George VI
This would be less creepy with audio.
everything is "creepy" why is that ?
@@sircampbell1249 Churches/death/underground vaults/bodies ... it all adds up to creepy in my book ;)
😂😂😂
Maybe its silent because the Queen Mother was there to see her burial place😞
At least some music !
There's 2 coin like images on the wall now. Is one the queens father and his wife or his daughter now?

Visiting their future gravesite ..
It's not clear how the coffins are delivered under the slab and into the crypt. There would need to be human intervention, but I don't think they lower the coffins through the opening where the slab normally is - and if they do, there must be people down there to ensure the coffins are correctly laid on the shelves. Do those people go down there earlier and have to effectively hide in the presence of the other coffins, before being rescued by a ladder once the Royal party have left?
I did hear there was another door underground and perhaps that's the access we can see at 2:25.
Where does the final committal service take place? Are the Royal Family simply crammed into the corridor outside the gate and looking into the chapel?
Who is this gentleman and lady in white coat at 4:22? And the lady in white hat at 4:39?
Lady and gent are Duke and Duchess of Kent, lady in white hat Princess Alexandra
I wonder why these people remains are kept in this way, in metal clad coffins,.and not buried in dirt, especially they are people that's deeply relious at the head of the Church of England.
So, are all the coffins stacked on each other under the marble slab?
Side by side
I have the same question!
Apparently there are Racks in the crypt. King George on one side to the Marble Slab with Queen Elizabeth (Queen Mother) put on a rack above(?) him.
Prince Philip on the other side of the slab with Queen Elizabeth 2 on the rack above him.
Not sure where the 5th and 6th future coffins will be placed as the diagram (from a UK Newspaper, online) only show the positions of the 4 current coffins.
They are stacked on top of each other. The Queen Mother on top of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II on top of Prince Philip.

No sound, or is it just me ?
I wouldnt spend a night in that Vault for any money

Are their coffins stacked on top of each other?
Yes. The Queen Mother on top of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II on top of Prince Philip.
@@SymphonyBrahms Women on top!
No details about how the remains are placed in the crypt have ever been made public. It's highly unlikely that the coffins are resting on top of each other. It's more likely there are four to six niches in the side walls of the vault. It's most likely the monarchs are under the alter?!?!?
the final resting place of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
I wonder how they would feel if some Egyptian archeological society ,started digging about 😳
In three thousand years, I doubt they would care.
Are you trying to insinuate that George VI or Elizabeth II dug up ancient Egyptian tombs? 🤔
@@David-lb4te if you look at Spencer's grave at great brington then it's just over 100 years and is in already bad shape and not maintained.. So you could keep 3000 years aside.. There are also videos of other kings from 14th century who have been opened.
@Anthony S i didnt know that they actually opened up those coffins, how do you know this?
They dug up King Richard Lion hearts heart recently
God I wish there were audio on this. Pathé films usually have audio.
Does his body actually rest immediately below the tile or in the vault one floor down?
I believe the vault is only temporary. It would be beneath the marble slab. As will be, I believe, HM the Queen. But do correct me someone if I am wrong !
@@Rich72James The British royal are fascinated with Egyptian burials. The way so much is preserved over the amount of time. So they started to copy certain burials from them, along with other traditions
As I understand it, there is space for 6 coffins in the chapel. It is small, so there is a frame to stack them 3 high. The lowest depth is 18 feet below the chapel surface. On that basis, the next two might be 12 feet down and the last two possibly 6’ down… not much detail is known, but it sounds like they are “bunk beds” and there is a little room for the ashes of Margaret.
This chapel is the final resting place for the Queen and Prince Philip.
I find it fascinating. And I’m British!
@@englishrose7368 Same, I'm looking at getting into the funeral industry and I'm fascinated with the layout of this chapel.
@@Rich72James Isn't HM being moved into a smaller section with just her husband Philip?
This clip does not have any sound.
@killwill83 : Yes, I did notice b&w. The clip pre-dates the use of colour, and, (most importantly) the CZcams poster can fix the lack of sound.

Guess many of those in this filem had passed away.
The religious figure you see is the Dean of Windsor Robert Woods, who died in 1997.
Just hope there is no more war. Imagine when the enemy enter the vault, digging the coffins and took all the jewelry?
The royal jewels are not buried in the vault. They go to the next king or queen. When not in use they are kept under guard at the Tower of London.
It's was a shame that George VI and Edward VIII never reconciled , Edward was not invited to the internment. Sad.
only King George VI's family/descendants were there
Yes and sadly that's what's going to happen to Harry. They will never forgive him for marrying Meghan.
Will HM King buried in this place?
I have just gone deaf!!!!!
This is the Vault right Not where the Queen is going is it ?
The Royal Vault, which days back to the 15th Century, is a burial chamber located 16 feet beneath St. George's Chapel in Winsor Castle. Yes, the late Queen Elizabeth II is going there too. 👒🎩

01:12 The marble of Queen Mary that the Duke of Windsor paid for!
He could afford it. He was a multi millionaire.
So we are told, and so we should believe. If people were told dough nuts were going to land on planet earth, tomorrow, 12.30 am, they would stand outside with bags to fill up
@@SymphonyBrahms He is even more than that, and if he paid that would be a first. These beggars make us to pay. This man only pays for advancement of his income. I wonder how many brown envelopes passed for him to take over an entire district of Liverpool to turn into a shopping mall?
@@dougaldouglas8842 The Duke of Windsor was the former King Edward VIII, who abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson.
Queen Elizabeth's husband Prince Philip was the Duke of Edinburgh.
@@SymphonyBrahms Edward VIII was a traitor, and that is actually official
I can't help but question the small space selected. If I'm right, this was built specifically for this purpose. It is humble by royal standards and a place that cannot be easily grieved over by crowds - I suspect intentionally so on the Queens part. However, this small space surely ensures her own children will not be buried with her. Margaret isn't mentioned on the slab either, something I find odd. There's a whole building dedicated to Victoria on Frogmore and I understand why the Queen wouldn't be so burdensome and ostentatious and that this place is more assured long term security, but this seems very.... pokey 🤔
Princess Margaret isn't mentioned as she was not a Knight of the Garter. Her cremated remains are in the chapel though
@Kevin The Queen Mother WAS a Knight of the Garter. She was made that in 1936.The Royal chapel at Windsor is the Chapel of the Knight's of the Garter. And the picture shown on BBC news this evening shown of the Grave of the Queen,Prince Phillip and the Queen Mother and her husband King George Vi,shows the Knights of the Garter emblem on it
@Kevin There is a separate standing stone with Margaret's name on it. It stands against the wall above the right side of the marker on the floor.
The overall design looks terrible and almost like a kid's playhouse tacked onto the original building.
@Kevin Evidently there is a plaque somewhere in the Windsor church with Margaret's name. I felt the same as you and Googled it.
Don’t worry, in a few hundred years, some CZcamsr will enter the vault and show how unkempt it is, everything is eventually abandoned and left to nature, and the Queen’s vault is no exception. Fact!
Yep, there is a day somewhere in the future when they'll all be cracked open, gorped at, robbed and probably desecrated. It's gonna happen!
None of that will happen.
@@SymphonyBrahms Don’t talk ridiculous, of course it will. Nothing lasts forever and Windsor Castle is no exception. It is already 953 years old, and it is highly unlikely it will still be standing in another thousand years. Name one building that’s 2000 years old, still occupied and kept ? You cannot as it doesn’t exist. One day in the future, Windsor will itself be ruins and as the comment above suggested, the vault will be opened and quite possibly any items or jewels will inevitably be taken by the state or thieves, just not in our lifetime of course.
@@ste9071 Just like the Egyptian mummies
@Anthony S Nah that won't happen, its going to be a UNESCO heritage site, they will upkeep it as it makes more than enough from tourism to pay for itself.
Isn't it rather cramped?
Its only really a burial place.
They're hardly gonna complain.......👻
Room under the floor for six coffins and an urn for Princess Margaret. Queen Elizabeth II planned the layout of the burial chapel.
Scary to think their bodies are decomposing in their coffins in the air beneath that slab (the coffins are not buried in earth). Since decomposing bodies are producing a very nasty stench, how do the vault keepers handle this?
I bet this vault should have a system for that purpose like mausoleums. Each crypt has pressure relief vents, or ventilators and so. I think this might be the case. But I'm not sure.
Ohhh... And they seal each coffin with lead so I think nothing Will come out of there because that's one of the lead's purpose.
MVE They are in lead lined coffins
