- This video shows the top 15 biggest auto manufacturers in the world from 1999 to 2017. This topic interests me very much, especially with all the Fiat Chrysler and Renault deal all over the news. It's also interesting to see how Japanese and Korean car makers, such as Toyota and Hyundai, move slowly to the top.
This video is made in collaboration with Atlantic Labs | First Mile VC. Thank you for the great ideas and the valuable data that I won't be able to collect all by myself.

"Quality over Quantity" i have a 2001 Toyota Tundra with 260,000 miles and counting with original engine and transmission both are smooth and running like new...
I have same truck with 290,000 all original motor and tranny. Running smooth . My father has a Toyota t 100 with 450,000 original motor and transmission.

im using toyota avanza 2006 model until now 2020 super realiable engine....very good until now never make me upset until now im so thankful to toyota one of the great brand overall

Nowadays if you want to buy a tough smartphone you can buy something from Panasonic TOUGHPAD line with military class ruggedness but it is not cheap. Above 2000$ per unit :(

Also according to 2019 quarterly report (by first half) Nissan's Operating profit is much smaller than hyundai. So Nissan is poor than kia.
Nissan's profit = 31,756,000,000 yen
Hyundai's profit = 193,500,570,000 yen
First of all Honda's quarterly report get lower and lower. According to honda's announcement in first half honda's revenue and Operating profit get lower. (-1.8%, -8.0%)

2 years ago I was all about VW. I used to drive a company owned Polo and wanted to buy a brand new Polo Mk6 myself when it came out. Turned out VW didn't want to make money because they refused to sell me that car (apparently I didn't have enough income to afford the loan i had to take on that car)
So I went to Toyota for a Yaris instead. Not my first choice at the time, but I needed a car because that company car had to be returned and I always have bad luck with second hand cars. Toyota did want to lease me that car (lease not buy because as mentioned it wasn't my first choice and I could return the car after a year without a fine if i wanted)
Over the next two years I fell in love with Toyota. And just last moth I returned that Yaris after 50K km of loyal service and bought myself a shiny new Corolla!
Toyota are not regarded for "grounbreaking" technology. That would be more Nissan over the last 40 years. In fact Toyota vehicles are often way behind the competition in features and technology.

In India, The next most trusted Passenger Sedan/Hatchback Cars are usually Hyundai. Obviously the first place is occupied by Maruti Suzuki dibbas. Honda still manages to sell somehow and Toyota has it's leap in SUV and MUV.

They've always been the small but innovative company that punches above their weight. Toyota has been buying much of their stock though, so there may be some changes soon.

My wife and I have purchased 5 new Mazdas over the years. We put about 200k on them with minimal mechanical issues and then buy a new one.
Mazda are probably the best japanese cars. Design and quality wise. Also very innovative. Only issue is they ate more expensive and also parts are more expensive. On the other hand... Honda is also now getting on the costly side and costly parts but still their sales are better

If you re wondering tesla still isn't anywhere close that they will make around 400-450k cars this year so I don't see them on list for 3-4 years and those 20 mil cars elon musk said ain't coming before 2030s. But they will probably be there at that time since they have decent cars .

People from USA doesnt know Peugeot cars (they are going to introduce this decade their cars through Opel, but they arent there now) so they missed the golden 205 turbo.
Ironic considering that Peugeot was the first non-American brand to win the Indianapolis 500. In 1913, 1916 and 1919. They also were the first in the world using 4-valves per cylinder in 1912(!).
Btw, there never was a Peugeot 205 Turbo unless you mean the rare (and expensive) Group B Rally homologation special the 205 T16 (with a mid-engine). I think you meant to 205 GTI - which actually was a better car than the legendary VW Golf GTI.
Some 1999 news report, which reported that Ford was expected to beat General Motors as the world's largest automaker by 2005, has reported that Ford produced around 7 ½ million vehicles in 1999 and not 6 ½ million as most sources say. Is it perhaps because Ford owned Japanese Mazda, which however most sources exclude from Ford's total sales and which produces around one million vehicles a year?
