  • Perfect Pie Crust Recipe
Here is my buttery, flaky perfect homemade pie crust recipe you can count on! The foundation of any great pie is learning how to make pie crust from scratch! This recipe is not only delicious but easy and simple.
    Ingredients:
    2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    4 tbs granulated sugar
    1/4 tsp kosher salt
    1 cup butter
    4 tbsp ice water
    2 tbsp vodka
    Egg Wash:
    1 egg
    2 tbs heavy cream
    Instructions:
    * In your food processor or large mixing bowl, add your flour, sugar, and salt and combine.
    * Add your very COLD cubed butter into the flour mixture and mix
    * Add about 4 tablespoons of the ice water and 2 tbs of vodka while mixing, then mix until you have a shaggy mixture that holds together when squeezed.
    * Knead the dough 2-3 times on your dough mat to help it come together a bit. Flatten into about one-inch-thick round disk, and placed in a ziplock bag on in plastic wrap.
    * Place in the fridge to chill for about 30 minutes to an hour.
    * After 30 minutes, remove from the fridge and let it warm up on the counter for 5 minutes; this will prevent cracking.
    * Using a rolling pin, roll your pie crust to about 1/4 of an inch and transfer to a pie dish.
    * For the egg wash, lightly beat the egg with 2 tablespoons of heavy cream; set it aside in the fridge until ready to use.
    * Fill shell with pie weights or dry beans and bake at 425F for 15 minutes.
    * After 15 minutes, removed from the oven and take out the foil filled beans and paper. At this point, you brush with the egg wash and dock the crust (pierce with a fork) so steam can escape. Cover the edge with a sheet of foil folded in half; this will protect the edge from burning.
    * Bake for another 15 minutes 350F.
    * For a no-bake filling, bake for an additional 20-25 minutes.
    * For a baked filling , cover the outer edges with aluminum foil to prevent it from over baking and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
    Note:
Don’t overwork the dough and the cooling time is very important. Most importantly, don't forget to treat yourself to a little goodness!
