      @@Werderina im a massive fan of your eurovision songs over the years (ein bißchen frieden, für alle, satellite, etc etc), but your recent songs have just simply been lacklustre and never going to get any points from anyone. blood and glitter was different. chris smashed the vocals, and it was a rock song going 21st out of 26 - so how do you only get 15 points from the public?
      genuine question - do people care about eurovision in germany? because i know they were crazy about it during the time when lena won, and that gradually wore off, but are these bad results just making germans lose interest rapidly? or is there still excitement for the contest as a whole?

      After all, a big financial scam has taken place here, when the winner has already received such a large jury score on Friday that no other country has had a realistic chance of getting a higher score and yet they have been asked to vote on Saturday. It would be fair to the people who voted in vain if Eurovision and ebu published the number of paid votes. Even more it starts to look like a shady activity when they don't take any position on this commotion and delete people's comments on social media.
      I believe that next year's Eurovision should be canceled completely if the EBU continues to hide. Sweden can keep them as soon as the money collection scam has been investigated.

    I just read the breakdown of public vote.
    Sweden got 12 pts from no country at all whilst Finland got 12 pts from 18 countries.
    Loreen has performed well and I personally have nothing against her. But it seems the jury vote is AGAIN against the public's will.
    Back to old issue. Should the winner be solely decided by the public or with a small group of so-called professional juries manipulating 50% of the result?

    • @kennet7837
      @kennet7837 Před 11 měsíci +14

      Juries are needed, but I think there should be a second round of voting where televoters only choose between the top 2.

    • @rickliang2709
      @rickliang2709 Před 11 měsíci +5

      I have considered your idea at some point. But if juries are needed because of the concern of public vote abuse, then it could happen too in the second round.
      We have read many news reports about people voting in parliamentary elections not even knowing whom they have voted. These circumstances always happen in any elections but we never hear those people's votes are invalid or those random voters need another voting professional to regulate. Moreover, there were reports about last year's (2022) jury abnormal voting issues among some participating countries. It seems that jury votes are much easier to be abused because of the small number of juries. My point of view is: Even random voters might vote without any reasons, but it's still the voter's choice no matter what and his/her choice should be respected.
      I think ESC should either solely let the professionals deliver their professionalism and make the decision and they take up all the responsibilities, consequences or criticism. Or the other way round, let people choose decide who should be the winner. Either one, not both. Because it's really cruel to any performers who see the light of glory, real close(!) and then being disapproved by just a small group of juries.
      No performers deserve these treatments and I can feel for Käärijä.

      Take this from a mathematical perspective, a few countries giving away low score to UK could be said as audience's bias but when all other countries had similar feedback to UK, then it's the majority's opinion, which should be respected. We could have argued that all others might have prejudice over UK, but it is not totally the truth. UK placed second last year, that proves that the audience knows what they like or they don't. The majority would still approve if UK makes a brilliant entry again, just like last year.

    As a German I think Liverpool was one of the best ESC's ever. All the shows were amazing. Eventhough Patty Gurdy didn't have the best evening in the national final, I think seeing the constellation of this years songs, it's possible we would've gotten more points. Same with Anica Russo. Maybe we still would've ended up last. I am still happy that we sent LotL. They are amazing. I think after the drama with Electric Callboy last year, people really were sick of the constant pop songs. I also agree with international people who say they would love to hear Germany singing in German. Well Frida Gold couldn't participate in the national final. I honestly think that bands like AnnenMayKantereit could do well. I doubt they would compete, but seeing people from all over the world react to them, for example the Tom's Diner or Just can't get you out of my head versions and then their own songs in German.
    I love this contest, but I am honestly against jury votes. It's a joke that 5 people of every country have such a power. Just look at some people in those juries. I mean Katja Ebstein is the head of the Germany jury. I don't wanna discredit everything she has achieved in the past, but she is 78 years old, born in 1945. This is an event for the people. It's a bit ridiculous that every year the jury give so many points to Sweden, when they come with one US pop song after another. But the funny thing is, if we Germans would get Lady Gaga to compete for us with a new great song, we still would end up last. Maybe second last. My favorite was Finland and I am very happy the German public gave them 12 points. At the same time I am sad they didn't give points to Austria. My favorites were Finland, Norway, Austria, Australia, Belgium. I knew Sweden would end up well, but this year it was way too obvious by the jury. So, get rid of the stupid jury. Nobody cares about so called experts. The first seconds of Finland I thought "Oh, Electric Callboy has a new song". At least Finland had the balls to send this guy and let him do his thing with the great dancers.
    I also would change the points system. Imagine you are always 13th, so you'll never get points, even if you are not that bad. 26 participants would mean max 26 points. You're last in the public votes, you get one point, 25th get 2 points etc. up to 26 points for the first.
    It was a great contest and I have a solution for next year. I just will go to bed before the results will be announced.

Sweden were popular too, and would always get over 200 points. The real issue is the juries crushed Finland while excessively voting for Sweden. The love Sweden. That's how Sweden won in 2015, and most years since they've scored far better with the jury than the public. The only country with more love from the jury is Australia. Every year far more points than the public. The only exception was 2019 with just 20 more points.

I also knew Israel would be the dark horse and grab third.....but the real excitement for me was seeing both Australia & Belgium absolutely prove everyone wrong! From their unveiling, i had them in my top 3, eventually both took the top two spots in my lists. I debated with those who wrote them both off as just casual fluff. I KNEW Voyager would come alive on stage like a stadium act that they are! They were fire. The fact they won their semi by a mile proves that they were always a force to be reckoned with!
    The same with Belgium, another song people slept on! The fact both grabbed a spot in the top 10, ahead of songs that were overhyped for months (Spain, France, Armenia & Austria) makes me so happy. I stuck with them from the off and they brought home the best results! So happy.

    Remember watching this. Actually brought a calculator to see it the jury could be overridden. I knew that in order for that to happen Sweden needed to flop like in 2018 or at least get below 150. Then i saw country after country gets low points (except Norway) and the pool of remaining points stayed too high. Then we got to top 10 and still they were ridiculously low points. I wanted the pool to get to 800 before Finland was called. Instead it was 978 and in that position Finland needed Ukraine 2022 level of performance (410+) to have a shot. Then the announcer said ,"three hundred..." and i knew it was over as there was no way both Italy and Israel would get 210+ each. Italy wasn't trending and Israel does poorly in north europe so no way and so it was...
    Historically, jury vote like that never happened before as juries usually spread the points more evenly.

For example for every 100 votes you get 1 point. Also chatting with people from other countries they weren’t aware they could vote and some had no clue Eurovision had opened to everyone to vote. I feel full disclosure after the event with how many votes countries receive and what points they get for those vote would make it more palatable if your country gets only 15 points like Germany it was demoralising for many of the acts
