This song was an absolute pain in the ass to mix together. Each take is at a different tempo, all the notes are off... but that's part of the fun! I hope you all enjoy, and I plan to post more soon!

Someone had to do this and you did. Thanks. The first 11 seconds, I love it, you give shape to my dream. And then, the voice comes in too loud and that destroys it. During the last ten seconds Durrie's groove has competely dissappeared. Unnecessary, a pity. Just keep in mind that when you stick to the Durrie track with or without some embellishment, the final mix is circa 30 seconds long and can easily be inserted in H&V. Enough speed, enough energy. Mind you: not have to be inserted, but can be. You're almost there, in great shape.
Thank you! As for the voice, I do agree that it’s a bit too loud, but I think that’s CZcams’s compression causing that, it’s not as prominent in my original mix. (It also greatly increased the volume on the first four measures, it was meant to sound more like a gradual buildup. Might have to remix and rerelease this track.) And yes, while I would have rather kept the acetate going through the whole piece, it and Take 3 (the piano take I used) became desynced, and try as I might I couldn’t get them to sync back up. I’m playing around with a few ideas for what to do with this song, so stay tuned!
What’s that first segment from its cool the workshopy sound
It’s from an acetate discovered in 2013, where it sold at private auction. It was a previously-lost overdub that we sadly haven’t heard in full. The small snippet we have now was sneakily recorded by Mark Linett and released in 2018. Check the Wake The World boxset, the last track is a mono mix of Child is Father of the Man. This acetate plays at the very end of the song, so it’s easy to miss. I didn’t know about it until I heard it in a fan mix.
@@gwaunch1967 The Wake The World track is not an overdub, it's the basic track. All the sessions are overdubs. Mark Linett did not sneakily record it. He is the owner of the acetate or knows the owner very well but couldn't reveal that so decided to release a muddy/telephone sound. Thank you Marc, thank you Gwaunch. 😉
@@deepbreatherthis would be a sad reason for us to not get it in full quality then. Not only is it poor quality but it’s a looped section, it doesn’t play in full
@@lighterlemin acetates are in bad quality by default, especially this antique 60 years old one. Don’t expect any audio wonders unless the new kids with new techniques enter this area. I will invite Deirdre for a start. If it’s a loop it could as well be the original intention, only 30 seconds long. Search bandcamp/sonny wilson/smile(v3) / 4) vega-tables, intro. Know what I mean?

It’s a fan mix. I never claimed this to be historically accurate. I just mixed it how I myself wanted it to sound.
