Why take accountability for something you did not do. Why allow someone to apologize to you for something you do not suffer from. This is all b.s. it's being kept alive by ridiculous "ceremonies" like this. We will never move forward when all we do is focus on the past. The people apologizing are frauds and attention seekers and the natives there apologizing to are frauds as well. They never owned this land. Back in the old days, land was taken by the most powerful king and army.

My dad told me my grandma had to cut her hair, because they would pull it as a form of punishment, before the actual punishment. She was not allowed to speak her language. She was abused, by teachers. I was told this by my father, 1/2 blooded Native American. My grandma full blooded Native American. And I myself 1/4 blooded Native American. I know I have some Scottish in me, Irish, English, and some others. And growing up we never really knew much of our culture. I live in Utah, and my mom the English, Scottish, Irish side, we didn't know much about either. But I do know that my heart is focused, and my spirit intent on the words and teachings of my Native ancestry, and the spirit I feel from my grandma, and my tribe. Just like how I feel watching this video.

I always hated westerns because they were portrayed in such a negative way. Dances with Wolves was such a beautiful movie which otherwise portrayed them in a positive way. Very honorable what the veterans went there to do at Standing Rocking! Even more so to ask the Lakota Chief for forgiveness for what White man's ancisteter did to the Native Americans! But there is no way to bring them back. These veterans know they did not do any harm but the uniform they wear represents the institution that did. So you think is better not to have anything at all or what do you propose as an alternate solution. If yo

Also, (in the Pacific North West) despite taking slaves, slaves were often treated with respect, usually given clothing, shelter, food, and sometimes free will. You see, they did this because they knew their slaves were still human, like them, and that they were only doing what their leader told them to do. Some interesting comments on here. There are those saying it is not for these people to apologise or give forgiveness as they were not the ones doing it ... this is based on the premise that time is linear and in one direction ... that is simply our perception. Our human minds have come to believe that it is that way. The energetic thread running through our ancestral lines are healed by such events. For an event such as this, the healing for the planet and the land and the people is huge! For those quoting 'logic' may I remind you of the duality in everything ... the intuitive is just as important. Native indigenous tribes, both past and present, have far greater connection to the collective, and understand their duties to their descendants, which the so called civilised world has forgotten or we would not believe that economic progress and profit beyond all else is more important than preserving the environment for our descendants. It is the viewpoint as displayed by some here that is part of the problem. Beyond all else the world needs more love and compassion and this event has shown me that there are many good and honourable people making a difference ... and long may it continue!

I read you say that sir and it is an understandable viewpoint because you and I have been taught to think ourselves as a unity : a mind-body person. But have you realized events in the past that you did not do and I did not do still affect us? Because we are linked together, and I don't even mean in some magical way. No. Concretely. Concretely somewhere someone is the grand grand grand son of a White man who killed a Native American man. And that grand grand grand son of a White man has been friends with the grand grand grand grand son of another White man and they built something together maybe that profited other grand grand grand grand son of another White man and soon enough a lot of people from the past are linked together to a lot of people in the present and even if we don't know exactly who did what in the past after some time we have this amazing possibility to express how we feel about that past when that past is a haunting past, because that past is a haunting past. I am not even American and the reality that Native Americans have been killed even when there were treaties, that haunts me. That hurts me. So you may take this ceremony on the symbolic level. Even if it is much more than that.

Leila Cherradi Leila, I appreciate your point and I understand the atrocities done in the past, atrocities by all involved. I don't want to erase that because history teaches us lessons of the past. I was just pointing out that you and I don't have the power or authority to ask forgiveness for others. Nor can we grant forgiveness for wrongs others have done. We are responsible for our own actions and rightfully held accountable for our actions. in order to move on it takes acknowledgement of the past and both parties need total agreement that the wrongs are never to be repeated. a clean, fresh start is what we should do. It's all we can do. Can you feel sorrow for the past? Of course. That's normal for most. We just can't bear the blame for what others have done just like we can't take credit for good deeds we didn't do.

Hi dearest, I appreciate what you say and I appreciate how you say it : in a non-violent manner. Obviously we agree to disagree. I do feel that my view was not just based on opinion. I have tried to show you that we are more than each one an individual but I failed. It's ok. What I can say is that it certainly meant a lot for the persons who are in the vid and it even meant a lot for me to see this vid : I really felt like a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders. I could say it another way : those who currently killed the Native Americans are not alive anymore, so they can't say these words, but these people could and they did in place and time where and when they could. It's like when a mother dies and the father is left to be a mom and a dad to his kids. He will say things he was not supposed to if the mom had been still there able to take her responsibilities as a mom. You see what I mean? Anyways, wishing you well! Namaste.
