His parents might have been rude to people who has deformed facial features or considered “ugly” in front of him and so he could have soaked up that negativity from his parents causing him to do that to other people or kids.
Maybe he should have thought about saying those hurtful words about Aussie. I don't care about how that kid cries about leaving school because he has friends. It's terrible to make fun of someone for how they look.

There is a short story, The Julian Chapter, and that honestly makes you feel bad for him. [spoilers] So I read it a few months ago, planning to read again soon, which means I can’t remember everything clearly. Basically, Julian went to visit his grandmother in Paris, and she found out about all the bullying. She told Julian this story; of when Paris was attacked by the Nazis. There was this one boy, who was nicknamed “Crab Legs” (in French) because his legs were sort of deformed. Similar to Auggie, except it’s his legs, not face. Julian’s grandmother was Jewish, and the army came to her school, to take any Jewish people. I remember this part clearly, Sara (the grandmother) was hiding after watching someone die, a lieutenant. She heard screams from her friend Rachel, because she was found. The boy, Crab Legs, found her and helped her back to his house. The story goes on, soon revealing his real name was Julien, since everybody called him Crab Legs (in French, as I said I read this months ago.) The basic summary of this is; Julian visits his grandmother, Sara, in Paris. When she finds out about Julian bullying August, Sara tells him how Julien helped her. (I forgot to mention this, poor Julien died because he was seen on the street as a crippled person, the Nazis took him.) Julian then realises how he was acting towards Auggie, and if he had taken the time to be like Jack or Summer, he would have realised Auggie isn’t an alien. Something extra: Soon, Sara’s father reunites with her, and she learns her mother was sent a concentration camp. Julien was the inspiration for Julian’s father’s name, Julian I Albans. Later, Julian was named after his father. There are a lot of things I didn’t mention, such as Vincent, because either I can’t remember them well, or it isn’t extremely important.
