The Scones, known for their 60's-tinged originals, cover a song written in 1967 and recorded in 1969 by "It's A Beautiful Day". Filmed at the Colorado National Monument. www.sconesmusic.com
Home from 3 brutal back to back tours in combat in Vietnam this song took me away. I still love the lyrics, the melody, and the haunting sound that I needed so much after I returned. I’m 76 now and can’t listen to this song without tears in my eyes and my heart.
71 here I was living in N.lake Tahoe at the time and Saw "Beautiful Day" with David Le'flame at the Christmas Tree Lodge Mt. Rose Highway. Most excellent show it was a small venue. but worth it.. Also heard John Mayall at a club highway 80 don't remember the place but could hear it w/special guests Eric Clapton. Oh well to late now..
White Bird was written in Seattle during a particularly long rainy winter that was nothing but depressing for a band trying to make it. So glad they did make it, phenomenally talented that they were. So glad to have seen them live at the Seattle Pop Festival in July of 1969. Nice cover!
I actually play drums for Hal Wagenet and Mitchel Holfman, the guitar and bass players from it’s a beautiful day and I love this version, I love the flute and the arrangements ! Well done guys!
This is the most awesome version of the song that I ever heard. I want to save this on my playlist. You express the true feeling of the song, thank you.❤
I saw It's a Beautiful Day with Hot Tuna and Jefferson Airplane in February 1970 on the 7th day at Anaheim Convention Center . . . '8-/ . . I was 11 almost twelve . . .
Wonderful sounds from the Scones. I remember "White Bird" on the radio as a child - I don't remember it sounding THIS wonderful. Musically, this is STELLAR - the vocal harmonies are tight from the get-go. The rock-steady rhythm section, powerful guitar work and the soaring and jazzy flutter-by of the flute are locked, in sync, and magical. Visually, stunning - it conjures thoughts of Help-era Richard Lester filming the original Jefferson Airplane instead of the Beatles. Excellent work. Cheers!
The scones have outdone themselves with the video, and the pretty girls and the absolute perfection of the song !!!! thank you guys, I listen to it every day, and share it as much as I can! Keep flying
Wow, just Wow! Such magnificent sounds accompanied by the most glorious landscapes/ scenes. One-of my go-to sounds since first being mesmerized by it in that ‘Summer of Luv’ season……this rendition is also quite moving. Just returning from visiting The Badlands & National Parks in SD……I am so enjoying these unique authentic views and amazing scenery……. simply gorgeous~ So glad I came upon this incredible version of ‘White Bird’.
An exquisitely performed cover and a captivating video. Rarely leave comments, but truly love this video and have viewed it several times. Play on Scones.
I have to share this cover of a great song that I remember hearing in 1969. I was going to link it to the post I made for the original so my Facebook friends could hear a modern day cover. But no, I am gong to give your version its own post. You have given ‘White Bird’ some real depth of feeling. Thank you, The Scones.
Impressive . I have listen to various versions of this classic iconic song. This group here hits it off of the plateau . David LaFlamme and company , I hope would be proud of where this song have soared to different heights . White Bird has had a nice long lived assurgence in our listening pleasure . As others have written, The Scones harmony and adapted alto flute brought a great tune to wing a newer audience to bring on going interest . Right now anything to divert our culture from ravages of Covid and the current Russian war crisis is meaningful . Nice job to The Scones . Cheers 02/25/2022
supercool rendition & the doot doodee is an especially nice touch - xlnt guitar work & that flute really knocks me out - many thanks & cheers from the Delta
I thought that was filmed in either northern Arizona of southern Utah. I'll admit my vertigo was acting up seeing everybody so close to the edges, literally.
Wow on all accounts. My goodness golly , that was an amazing capture of music and atmosphere.I'm scared of heights so not sure if I could have pulled off a video on a mountain top!
Melanie, our flute player, scared all of us when she jumped up on that little rock with 1000 ft. drops on 3 sides.... but it did make for some pretty cool video. She is becoming known as the "mountain goat" of the group. lol ... Rick here even though it looks like Melanie wrote this (she's been logging into my computer I guess>

I ABSOLUTLY ADORE THIS! CHILLS ALL OVER, IT'S BEAUTIFUL!
Why do not so many Americans know this beautiful song? It's too much a regret for me.
Most Americans are too young and missed the summer of love! Their loss!
Soothing, melodic turn in musical genre from 60-70s.
Nailed it.

The flute solo was giving me willies . But ,I will continue to play the flute . On solid ground . So she climbed up there ?
There were some major injuries during the filming. But zero fatalities.
Bravo! You guys really did this song justice!!
