@@cedarwaxwing3509 Downes is a skillful keyboardist, at least from watching him play in the 80s (Drama tour) yes recordings. I'm pretty sure that, if what you're saying about him letting the machines do all the work is true, it must be a stylistic choice, as in using a sequencer to get a repeating keyboard sound or an arpeggio.

There are LOTS of excellent CZcams players, many of them way better than very famous ones with decades of touring and many recorded albums, the reason these CZcams players are not that successful? The famous ones have entered into music industry in the 60s-70s, tons of money, contacts and heavyweight management companies.

Matt, thanks for the tour! It gave me a flashback... I use to play all that gear and more... after 40 I started playing solo piano gigs... now, my back hurts just looking at your cool rig ! LOL I find the H/S KX-1 does the trick when I need a Hammond... but I do use a real 145 Leslie. For solo piano gigs where I have to bring the piano, I'm using the Williams Legato (in stereo < that's very important with those cheap pianos) Kurzweil PC1x stays in the studio. The piano case has wheels w/a handle and brakes in two for the stand. At 63 who can haul all that gear around except young turks like you !

Younger ears will come and older ears will go, but the music in our minds will continue to flow.

Most of my gigs I use plug-ins with a couple of controllers and also a digital piano. Saw Yes at least a dozen time before 1980....some with Wakeman, some with Moraz, some with Bruford. Hammond tech who used to do a lot of mods for Emerson, Wakeman, Lord, to name a few. He was great...had my B done by him. Passed away in the late 80's.
