- After reacting to and hearing Band-Maid for the very first time ever, I could not wait and HAD to hear more. So 5 minutes after I listened to "Dice", I filmed this reaction and for the first time I'm doing a back-to-back DOUBLE video release. This live performance really showcases these ladies' talent and absolutely stunned me and left me blown away. I included some break downs on their gear and some other fun info on this one, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

I think a large portion of their fan base are musicians, including me. I think they are the most phenomenal band to come out in years. It's not only their excellent musicianship, but their always on point musicality and the melodic contributions by every member to each song. The leads, the bass lines, background vocals and lead vocals and the incredible drumming and even the ones early in their career that they didn't write were incredible. There is nobody else that sounds like them. I was bored as hell with rock until they came along. They are little beasts.
the last time I was excited about a group was in 1972 and it was Yes. Band Maid reignited my interest in music
Amen. Can't wait to see them in DC
I was the same way. I haven't heard a good new American rock/metal band in 20 years. I had checked out. It wasn't Band Maid it was another group that starts with a B. But now I'm getting a little bored of them and I have room in my heart for a new band and Band Maid is it. I'm the kind of person who can only be obsessed by one thing at a time and if I'm not obsessed I'm apathetic. Band Maid is so much better than I thought they were from casually listening to Thrill. I have tickets to the Seattle show.
@@eaglez1901 hope they bring all the best gear to sound this good live!
Yeah man these girls kick ass next level, not only do pretty much ALL of their songs SLAP but they are the real deal live, they are not studio magic these girls are freaking legit musicians and seeing 5 Japanese girls in maid outfits carrying the torch of rock and roll better than 99.9% of rock bands out there is such a beautiful thing, I can’t overstate how much I enjoy them
'WTF IS GOING ON?!?' is the most sensible reaction to this group of hard-rockin' ladies ;0...
Thanks for listening man. An 810 year old pigeon spreads her wings & welcomes you to the fold.
I love how generous this band is, every member is allowed to shine, riff, and show-off a bit in the spotlight, and in every video I've seen of them, they're always just having fun.
I love how Miku fell on her butt just before Akane's solo.
She gave her all
She popped right back up though...can't keep the Pigeon down!
@@mr.bluebird6544 indeed you can't.
Her name is Tono, Kanami Tono. She eats guitar solos for breakfast !
And she is playing her own PRS signature guitar !
Jamie Garrett I understand PRS approached her for the honors. 😎
@@GT-mq1dx Indeed they did. Further Band-Maid has hawked several musical instruments and guitar strings on Japanese TV. Ernie Ball and Gibson to name a couple.
“ONSET” and “FREEDOM” live!!!! Glad you’re enjoying them
I had a good chuckle when he said "I want to see them at their full potential". Friend, you've barely scratched the surface.
These women are gonna rock your face off and it will become your new addiction.
YES! This comment needs to be liked to the max!
Dude he will die if he react to Freedom live and onset live x)
i totally agree to these 2 suggestions. "Freedom" from the same show as this one here and "Onset" from April 13, 2018. i think you are going to love these...
these girls are crazy in the most positive way. from their live performances u can tell that they are having fun together, love what they do and are sooo f*ing good at doing it.
a little background-story: the band was founded by 'Miku' who plays the rhythm-guitar. she also is responsible for the maid-costumes because she worked at a maid-cafe back then.
'Kanami' kills it with the leadguitar, 'Akane' is an absolute beast on the Drums, 'Misa' is the queen of bass-guitars and 'Saiki' with her great voice (imo) on the mic.
Just adding to the Onset and Freedom live recommendations. Freedom from the same Feb 14th concert - they were on fire 🔥
Two weeks ago I saw them in Detroit at a small venue, crowd of about 700-800 people, small stage - no room for a drum riser , and the vocalist and guitarist almost ran into each other several times, But OMG did they put on a great show. 'Domination' is the first song on their set list. This band has so much depth that they can start with a piece like 'Domination' and sustain the energy over a two hour show. A Great Band!
I saw a pic of them before I heard them. I was like, "Yeah, the costumes... I don't know". Well, now I know. And these musicians can wear whatever they damn well please.
Welcomee in Band maid world.
More 90 songs now to discover, not a bad song.
Good journey
Rinne MV is harder
Freedom live is really the song representing the band spirit .
The vocalist is often overlooked because The musicianship of Band maid is so amazing but you shouldn’t underestimate her, she’s amazing. The song that showcases that the most is Wonderland live. The rhythm guitarist also harmonizes extremely well with her
Yes. Miku-plus-Saiki are a glorious combination. Seems, these days, as much a lead duet as much as lead/backing. Saiki always sets the bar ,but Miku meets it with such panache !!!
1nr30min into a 2hr concert and they still have this much energy
The name of the group and the outfits really throw off a first time listener when they hear the music. It's pretty funny seeing people not expect all of this and then lose their mind over it.
The best hard rock band around and probably for the last 30-40 years or so! Try the live version (2020) of their "Freedom" next and you'll hear fantastic bass lines and a little treat from the drummer :) Enjoy the ride!
true statement
The best for now, but lovebites and the warning from Mexico are catching up very fast. The warning already has many songs that are better than 20, 30 years ago
@@chewingpiano the more Rock the better
I love how you made Nightwish a verb! 😂🔥🔥🔥🤙☝️
I've seen all the great bands of the seventies Stones, AC/DC Van, Areosmith, Rush, Yes, Kiss, Zappa etc. Bandmaid it the 1st band in years that brings back that sound and energy live. Daydreaming is my favorite; best guitar solo I've ever felt.
Onset! let’s go. If you want to hear a heavier side of them, go for Rinne official MV.
RINNE studio recording/official video.. SAVAGE- 20/10❤❤❤
Tons of Band Maid fan vids showing these ladies playing on tiny crappy stages as they grind small clubs on their way to World Domination. Thanks for the reactions man.
Yeah those are outside of Japan videos. This video is during the Shibuya concert I think, which is one of their biggest concerts.
Don't forget BAND-MAID dropped an MV a couple months ago for their best instrumental yet: FROM NOW ON. As metal as they get but BAND-MAID style. Maybe that will drag you back in.
I saw Band Maid live in Hiroshima in December 2019. They are friggin' incredible live, especially when you're in a crowd that's heavily participating. :-)
When they Gather around Akane, the drummer they're doing something they call "pulling faces" trying to make her lose concentration and mess up, never works, if you watch "Freedom" you'll see Kaname staring at Miku during her vocal and Akane making "kissy faces" at them when they fail once again
the Japanese term is "Hengao"
Thanks for that info on "pulling faces". Her bandmates should know good (great drummers) are multi-faceted thinkers that's why they can keep a steady beat why playing different rhythms. And, Akane has shown herself to be in the drumming league.
On the last version of play Akane made Saiky laugh while she s singing! I think she s win😁
"Perfect music for credits in anime."
It's perfect music. Period.
As a long time Band-Maid fan, it's fun to go back to the beginning, with Thrill. That's the vid that I think most of us Maidiacs discovered them and see how far they've come. I'm 58, I love metal, but I am absolutely obsessed with these ladies!
It never gets old watching people lose their minds over this band....they are so special...check out 'Choose Me'....'Alone'.....'Real Existence'....'Daydreaming'.....or really anything by these Ladies....whenever possible go for the live version..they absolutely own the stage!!!! Nice job on the reaction by the way....
Full potential? Akane on the drums was only teasing on this song. Their song Freedom from the same live show as this She goes OFF it's incredible.
Fast forward a year and you're calls for an anime opening comes true. Their new song, Sense, is the opening song for the anime "Platinum End". For those that know anime, the show is written by the same guy who did Death Note.
Hi from the UK. Saw these girls in London and it was the most enjoyable gig I've been to in 40 years. Became an instant fan. Who cares about the language barrier, they transcend it!!!
For other tracks to try, I suggest Real Existence, Puzzle and Moratorium (live is best), but they have a huge back catalogue so enjoy!!!😁
Last year at Islington assembly hall? I was there too, upstairs. Flew from Spain the day prior and run away to Gatwick that same night.
@@mogaman28 I saw them the year before at The Dome and was blown away
Band Maid is a staple on my car stereo system on the way to swim training. Loved them since l first heard back in the day. A new Band Maid vid is a good day.
I will say it as a reminder here. Onset (Live) is an instrumental and showcases their talent.
Let's give him a moment to be surprised by not telling him that it's an inst*****tal🤘
Watching this after Rabbi Rabbs told me to watch your DICE reaction. Love your comments, insight and enthusiasm for the band!
Welcome to Band-Maid. Great reaction! This is “Thrill” I recorded it at The Mercury Lounge, NYC. 9/27/19. Minimal production. They are the real deal. This was towards the end of the show. 1 hour and 45 minutes, nonstop.
I'm so happy that you reacted to Band Maid. I wish they were heard by millions of people in America on rock stations. They really deserve it! They have rocked Japan for years, I would love to see them as a featured band in concert with opening bands and tens of thousands of people filling in to see them.
Great review

@@TankTheTech Yes, on their official tours, they usually play over 2 hrs per concert. They really give your money's worth. They are all nice girls and work really hard. You must see them live. They are phenomenal.

These are the reaction to Band-Maid we live for.
It’s one month later, yep, BANDMAID IS STILL THE BEST BAND IN THE LAND!
Tank, these girls are OFF THE CHARTS TALENTED! I honestly don’t know of a better band in the world today! UNBELIEVABLE!
now you are in the addict club...the Band-Maid rabbit hole is so deep that it will take me hours to point out where to start. So, take a deep breath, and start discovering them as I did...one by one, none of their songs is skippable, there is not even a single band in the world that can keep up with such quality of song-writing and as you are well aware by now, the musicianship is out of this world...Whatever you do - go with live performances, this band is only worth seeing live. Once you hear 10 songs...you will know what we all already know...this is the best band in the world!!! Misa Misa Misa...prepare to be blown into pieces)))
Onset, Alone, Blooming, Freedom, Moratorium. The greatness doesn’t end 😭
Miko didn't know how to play the guitar till she formed this band with Konami and asked her to teach her in 2013. And the drummer, Akane "Gorilla" Hirose is a beast ;) :).
The Band Maid are one of e kind !!!!!!!!!!! Over the Top !!!!!! Pfenomenal band !!!!!!! Long live the Queens !!!!!!!!!
Also Band Maid are playing a live concert on CZcams on 16 August.
Everyone has pretty much given their recommendation of Band Maid songs and anyone of those are pretty good. But if you wanna see the girls during their rookie days, then you might wanna check out "Thrill", this was their first music video released on CZcams and the first one that introduced me to the band when I first saw it 6 years ago. You could already see their potential in that video. The song was written for them by their label and they were still finding their own voice. Miku the rhythm guitarist was just learning to play the guitar then, but the drummer, bassist and lead guitars were already solid even back then.
There used to be a lot more live videos out there until there was a purge of unofficial uploads a couple of months back. Live versions are usually recommended. You get more feeling, but they also often add extra intros, solos, and other bits to their live songs. There's nothing wrong with any of the MVs though, so don't worry about using them. Unusually for live bands, they change the setlist for almost every show. A next suggestion...Blooming (MV)
The official videos are all performance vids and top notch produced, except thrill which was a bit simple. There was a mv around for onset, but I can't find it anymore. They recorded dice, onset and domination in front of a white background and cut each member out to upload a solo instrumental version. If u wanna watch a certain bandmember only. Here's an example for Misa playing dice. A joy to watch : lexx.impa.me/videos/watch/f51e49c5-0ca2-49ba-9026-46801a8dec33

@@rx32555. Great job! 🙂👍
They have very funny personalities, just like five sisters who like pranks and enjoy themselves.
One other thing about how much energy these girls bring, this was the 22nd song in their setlist. So yeah... Their energy is infectious from start to finish!
In addition to being a unicorn here!! 🦄 Akane (Drummer & band Leader) plays the trombone & is a classically trained pianist. 🎹
As well as playing in an acoustic band in addition to BandMaid. She is also a DJ 🎚💿 🎧 at various nightclubs.
Under the stage name DJ Achi she went by in high school. That's a girl that wears a lot of hats lol. Great reaction here as well.. :b
2 years later and yes, Band-Maid is still my favorite rock band out there.
Well it looks like some people get while others don’t get it, It look like you get it.
They are just as good with no production, I've seen them a few times, and they're simply the best. If you can find them Daydreaming, Anemone live acoustic, and awkward. These songs will help you understand their tremendous songwriting abilities
There is a new song form the beginning of this year called The Dragon Cries, with lyrics in english. Also see alohask8jp
comments and my comments completing those suggestions (greetings from Brazil)
I've seen hundreds of bands in my 54 years, and Band Maid live sound as tight as any other..they're so crisp and polished on stage.
I have to plug for "On set" again for the next reaction. In this one, Domination, the guitarists are also pulling faces at the drummer @ 3:54 - trying to put her off and you said she's wailing! And she has the biggest smile while she does it!... Holy F@ckin' yowzer is right!
They did a live stream a few weeks ago and they have another one coming next week. They sound the same without post production. They blow me away.
I saw them in a rather shitty club with some technical difficulties a few years back and .. it was still amazing. They are for real. Have fun on your new journey!
Watch in this order: Onset, Moratorium, The Dragon Cries, Rinne.
Been a big fan for 6 years now. Got tickets to their show next Feb. at the Budakon. Cant wait...
30 seconds of this and I was hooked....
Welcome aboard..... Try Freedon live from the same show - everyone is having a GREAT, FUN time in that one.....especially Akane, the drummer.
Have you ever heard of a band where all 5 members are equally loved? Very unique group of ladies. Since I discovered these little rockers, I am completely obsessed!! Have a great week brother.
I saw their MV for "Thrill" first. I was intrigued. Then I saw "Play" live. I was excited. Then I saw "Domination" live and was blown away like you. I now own their Domination CD and their World Domination Tour DVD and am addicted.
I agree with "Onset" and "Freedom" live, as well as "Thrill" (their first), "Rinne" and "Blooming" MV's for future enjoyment.
I usually watch two or three Band Maid videos before going to bed, that's how addicted I am.
Glad to see someone else seeing and appreciating the gift that these five ladies are. As so many below have said, I haven't been this impressed by a band in many many years, if ever. They are indeed my favorite band ever.
I really appreciate your comment about not caring about the production, and if it was just them in a room they would still be great. I can tell you firsthand- THEY ARE! I flew down to Dallas last fall to see them. Just them on a tiny stage with their instruments, and about 300 mezmerized fans taking it all in. They are every bit as good without all the production as you see here. Travel and all, I spent about $1k going to see them. Never considered spending anywhere close to that to see the likes of Metallica, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, etc. But for these ladies I would do it over and over again.
It's worth noting that this was 22nd song in a 23-song set and yet look at the energy and tack-sharp playing. And yeah: they're this good on the road without the FX & staging in this show. Hope to see them with all these trimmings some day .
In their official channel you can find two live bangers, "Freedom" and "Onset", enjoy the ride.
I remember seeing these guys in 2016 on a tiny outdoor stage at MCM expo in the UK. They had to do their own setup and had a tiny crowd that steadily grew. I can confirm they sound great with almost no production added as they had hardly any that day! My husband and I were all: Why the hell are these ladies not touring properly they're so much better than this little side stage. Lo and behold four years later and now they're touring for real!
Akane may be the most versatile and talented drummer in Japan. She can play anything.
There is something special that certain bands have and you know it when you first hear them. Van Halen, Guns and Roses, Metallica, Pantera (with Phil), Iron Maiden, etc. brought new life to the music world. I think this band has it. You also might want to check out a band called Lovebites if you haven't yet.
Welcome to the world of Band Maid , there is much more for you to hear....and see .
While not as popular as Band Maid, I would highly recommend checking out Ningen Isu. 20+ albums over a 30+ year career. These guys are the pure definition of consistently good metal.
While Heartless Scat is their breakout video, their live shows are pretty awesome.
This is *_Band-Maid_* and they play relentless quality Rock N' Roll!!
Your soul belongs to five Japanese girls now, resistance is futile!
So far my soul has been split between Band-Maid and Nightwish. I wonder who else is gonna claim parts of it?!
@@TankTheTech LOVEBITES will, another all female band from Japan, but they are straight up Metal, thrash, power metal etc. I discovered this Japan Rock/Metal scene a couple months back and im hooked on Band Maid and Lovebites! No kidding!
Yeah and I believe Japan still has Tower Records at various locations throughout the country. I can’t get enough of these girls, what a killer band!
@@GT-mq1dx Tower records in Japan are multi story stores. They're huge. Japan has the 2nd biggest music industry in the world by revenue, second only to America, because physical media is still huge in Japan. 72% of all music industry revenue in Japan is Physical Media, compared to the US at 15%.
The 3rd and 4th largest music industries are the UK and Germany, and Japan's music industry is larger than both combined.
When you factor in that the US has 3 times the population of Japan, but their music industry is only 2 times as large, you realise that by person, Japan's music industry is actually larger than that of the US.

@Pattoe, I knew some of that information but not all of it, thanks for the rest of it. 😎
The heavy metal gods are old now....many are retired or have passed away. I never thought the new generation would come from the east and women!
This is Band-Maid, and they play
fu**in' ROCK N ROLL!
They're the best.
I think it's fitting that the next one should be "Thrill" since that was the song that introduced many of us to them years ago. It's also the song that saved the band because prior to that they had thoughts of disbanding.
Unbeknownst to them, "Trill" was uploaded onto Facebook and it shot up in views overnight. That's when Band-Maid knew they had a lot of fans overseas and it motivated them. Even now on CZcams you can see that most of the comments are in English and you'll rarely see Japanese ones.
Thank you for doing BAND-MAID again! Honestly, any of the songs on their official CZcams are great... except maybe Hard Wash, but then that was to help you wash your hands the right length of time for Covid, so... who am I kidding, I've listened to that multiple times, too. :-) They're just so darned fun while being world beaters musically at the same time. Best rock-n-roll band in the world.

Dice wasn’t a teaser song!! You just happened to watch it first. The girls have been around for about 8 years now. Go watch some of their back catalogue. “ Thrill “ was the first time most of us heard and loved them!! “ Before Yesterday “ is a gorgeous power ballad.
"Thrill" is an uncomplicated but hella-solid banger in its' own right and deserves a place on any rock playlist, but it feels amateurish when compared to their more-recent compositions, which is a testament to their scope, talent, and progress throughout their careers. They deserve so much more attention than they currently have
Honestly, the tearing up thing is real. They have a couple of songs that are just SO GOOD and SO PERFECT that it makes me emotional. Like in the way beautiful things make you watery eyed. Not every artist can do that tbh.
the dueling guitars just took me back, (old school), they still plug in including singer, they play their own instruments, and sing their own vocals, no backing tracks (old school)
Your reaction is one of my all time favorites and really helped me appreciate Band Maid even more. Thanks Tank!
next you need "Onset" which is an instrumental by them.
Oh no! Please don't give him a spoiler that it's an inst*****tal. Let's give him a moment to be surprised.
Yes, you clearly need to check out Onset and Freedom next - live, of course.
Keep it up, dude!
Too late. A few people have said it. Haha. But it's totally fine! I'm very interested in seeing an instrumental!
@@TankTheTech - You should check out Babymetal. I'm sure you'll be getting recommendations for it. For whatever reason youtube thinks they're the same. Babymetal is very different from Band Maid. Any song but Gimme Chocolate. I'd recommend Megitsune music video, Headbanger live at legend of 1997 or Akatsuki live at Budokan 'Black Night'.
They're not an all girl band except by a technicality. Their backing band is all men but they are considered separate. They're more a girl-fronted heavy metal group. They're as young as 12 in some of the videos but they're in their early 20's now. They are so unique that they got to brand their own genre of music. They went with 'Kawaii-Metal' which means cute metal. They do a pop-metal fusion most of the time but they also do a lot of other genres in their blender.
NOW ONSET (live)... I don´t say what it is, because one other fan said: Don´t spoiler it for the reactors... So i am just saying: Watch it and if you already had tears in your eyes, this is gonna show you, once more, how good they are. Nice reaction! Subscribed! You will have a lot of fun with these ladies. They got me 6 months ago and i am SO HAPPY about it! BEST live rockband and their soundguys doing a GREAT job, you can´t credit these guys more. Watched an online LIVE show and this was also a banger!
Great reaction, welcome to the Band Maid pigeon coop. If you want to see the drummer go complete beast mode, check out the live version of Freedom. It's really good, and the band has so much fun performing it. Subscribed and looking forward to more reactions.
So glad you love band-maid I've been listening to them for years and they are hands down my favorite rock band by miles for you to recognize how amazingly talented they are speaks volumes for me! Literally every song is amazing by them chose anything and you won't be disappointed.
MISA MISA MISA ! =D
You have only scratched the surface of how good this band really is. You will never be disappointed, especially with the live stuff. Watch Freedom from this same concert and I believe they've moved their videos pretty much to their website now if you're looking for stuff. I have their albums and think they're great but the live performances just can't be beat except for just a couple of MV's.
I had the same reaction. Too good to be true. No words for their talent. It seems boundless.
Since 1978 I'm a Motörhead Fan, they were always my favorite. I listened to a lot of Rock and Metal Bands, like AC/DC, Saxon, Ozzy, Maiden and many others. I have been at hundreds of Shows, watched Metallica on their first Tour, Bon Jovi as Opener for Kiss, Monsters of Rock, Rock am Ring, Lorelei and many other Festivals.
But when I first heard Band-Maid with Thrill back in 2014, they hit me right through my Heart and take their place as one of my three all-time favorite bands.
You have to watch them live, they are amazing.
Other band maid recommendations Play and Onset live, Freedom too. Rinne MV for the most metal I think Band Maid get the domination MV is worth the watch to see the differences and because its a cool MV
Welcome to Band-Maid!
My first time listening to them I stayed up the entire night listening.
A live concert is now on my bucket list. I shall NOT die before attending a live concert.
Freedom will knock you off your feet similar to this song, Wonderland will have you forgetting to breath in how beautiful it is, and Onset is a lot of fun, but Puzzle is their most complex writing to date. There is also an acoustic version of Puzzle that will have you shedding tears. I'm serious.
Bandmaid- Puzzle Live! Will blow your mind!
As Pantera, Band-Maid is really one of those bands that can have a song named "Domination"... so far I love every thing about them, everything from them.
I was blown away by the end of 2019 with "Blooming" from their 2019's album "Conqueror" and had the urgent need to get to know them better, listen more from them, and what happened next was like a MMA fight - every song was a Knock Out - song after song after song after song they just dominated me, conquered me, I never thought by now I would have such a huge crush, become such a big fan of a band... they are so good that I can only blame myself for not listen to them the first time I came across them - I saw a few seconds of "Thrill" a long time ago and thought to myself "Ah, Japanese Rock with sexy ladies in maid outfits...not my thing..." ... and I skip them for a long time (what a idiot!) ...
My recommendation in this comment for next Band-Maid: The only "full-english" Band-Maid song: "Don't Let Me Down"
this blew your mind???? Try "Freedom" from same concert.....Akane.....i proposed to her 3,000 times so i am in the queue of her saying "YES!" trust me, that will blow your mind man
It's always fun seeing someone watch them play live for the first time. You just aren't prepared lol.
A little update for ya, Miku now has her own signature Zemaitis guitar. She has also been seen playing their "V" model.
Yep, I believe that's called "The Flappy Pigeon" lol. Beautiful guitar I wish I had my hands on. :b
They always do deliver. What I like about them the most is that you can see that they love what they are doing they always smile and that carries onto the audience. If you wanna see the prime example of them just showing sheer joy of playing you have to react to Freedom. If that does not make you smile nothing will (also the drummer has a longer solo in this one so if you wanna see more of her its also perfect for it). Oh and just because I heard you like Bass playing you should definately look at Babymetal Rondo of Nightmare with the mischief of gods intro.
So Tank. Are you going to see them live? I will in October. Can't wait!
Band Maid, making rock and roll great again !
Truest story
Freedom is good if you wanna hear the drummer go off. Wonderland is my favorite songs of theirs, but it's a bit more on the alt side (less heavy). Whatever you do, watch it live, you won't regret it.
