  • This is a video on how to take the carb off its very simple the 2 bolt that i point out at the start of the video undo and then just remove the bolts and the carb will be free to be removed. Its very straight forward and simple.
    Tools needed?
    8mm Spanner / Socket - To remove the 2 bolts holding the carb.
    10mm Spanner / Socket - To remove the airbox bolt.
    Philips (Star) Screwdriver - To remove the 2 Float Screws.
    Flat Screwdriver - To remove the jets (if they are blocked)
    Your bike will take a few kicks tries to re-start your bike, as the float needs to fill back up!

    Hi mate,
    We're trying to get my friends speed fight 2 working and we think that he has rebuilt the carb wrong so do you know where the pipes/hoses have to connect?
    The fuel tap is on the rear left hand side and has 2 pipes coming off of it, one towards the top and one towards the bottom, do you know where these go on the carb?
    Also where does the 2 stroke pipe connect to?

      @SCOTTCOD4  Před 10 lety

      Well that happened to me also, it may not be the same problem. I filled the float up first with some fuel and then put it back onto the carb very carefully. Then give it another try starting it, if it don't start check the jets and make sure they are not blocked by any rubbish from the tank.
      If it still don't start once you have done that check the spark plug. Hope this helps?! If so please give the video and live. Thanks!

    • @SCOTTCOD4
      @SCOTTCOD4  Před 10 lety

      Sounds like it could maybe be a faulty choke or maybe a air filter problem. Have you tried the basics? Checking the plug, making sure the air filter isn't blocked and also the rollers and belt maybe make sure they are all in good order.

    Wonder if you could help me. I have a speedfight 2 and a few years back i put a racing exhaust on it and did nothing else. I bought the exhaust for 20 quid off ebay and in the end the bike broke down on me. Turned out the piston rings were shattered found in the exhaust and the piston and cylinder was destroyed. I then decided to put a 70cc cylinder kit on it instead and the bike hasnt really been rode since. What do i need to get and fit to the bike to make it run good with that so i can sell it? im prepared to spend money on a decent exhaust and i beleive i need a bigger jet in the carb but im not sure exactly how to fit that and im not sure what size. Any advice would be much appreciated. cheers

    • @SCOTTCOD4
      @SCOTTCOD4  Před 9 lety

      Mark Leech Pretty much what you have said mate, for a 70cc kit your going to want to make sure its jetted correctly and also a new derestricted exhaust can help and with most new exhausts you get rollers to put in the variator which again can help. Then just make sure you have a good spark plug, and a nice clear air filter. When selling the bike make sure to say it will need running in, Some people buy a scooter after a re build and thrash the life out of it straight away and within 10 miles BANG the rings are gone (I know i did that once, after doing it to one of my own personal bikes) Plus a proper run in bike will have a much higher top speed, and last so much longer. Oh and also make sure you use some GOOD quality 2/ Oil, i was lazy with one of my bikes using a budget £2 bottle 2/ Oil and it sooted up everything and clogged the exhaust with carbon.

    • @lukejohnrussell1026
      @lukejohnrussell1026 Před 7 lety

      Whatever you do, don't go up 10/15% on the main jet if you put a sports pipe on your Speedfight 2. 72 is a pretty large jet size for the stock carb.

  • @simonsmith6074
    @simonsmith6074 Před 9 lety

    I have done clean the carb and put a new pug in it but I know I need a screw but it Kent to be a 50cc but me and my bro thing it has a 80cc kit on it and we think it does 50-65 mph

    • @SCOTTCOD4
      @SCOTTCOD4  Před 9 lety

      Simon Smith If its an 80cc big bore kit, then it should have been up jetted accordingly and also have a good aftermarket exhaust that's been de-restricted. Then there is the air fuel screw again to get that correct and also maybe a different sponge or air filter.
      To get it back to 50cc standard is pretty straight forward, just buy a 50cc kit (If your in the UK, then pedparts.co.uk have a vast stock in for speedfights) if you're outside the uk then try your ebay or other stores. Then just remove the old piston, barrel, header and replace with 50cc kit, then make sure the jets are as standard (google will know the correct sizing) and you should be good.

    • @SCOTTCOD4
      @SCOTTCOD4  Před 9 lety

      LuxKadafi Im not sure if im honest, i used to close my both up fully (the screws) and then 1/4 turn them, until i got what i thought was the best running set up. Then you can check this by doing a simple spark plug check!

    • @LuxKadafi
      @LuxKadafi Před 9 lety

      ill try that, thank you mate!

    • @SCOTTCOD4
      @SCOTTCOD4  Před 9 lety

      LuxKadafi Worth mentioning its better to do it with a warm engine, so if you can take it for a 10 minute ride out and then adjust accordingly, if you cant its just going to be trial and error till you can get it fired up. You want to be looking at a nice biscuit (almost a light chocolate) spark plug end once you have it set up mate. Keep me posted, let me know how you get on.

    • @SCOTTCOD4
      @SCOTTCOD4  Před 9 lety

      Simon Smith You may want to replace the screw that's currently missing. Have you clean out both the jets? Also look into if you have the air / fuel screw on a correct setting for your bike / setup. Then look into pulling the spark plug and checking that and if thats fine move onto looking at your belt and rollers. Thats what i would do, but i would check spark plug and jets 1st, then air / fuel screw on the side of your carb and then move onto rollers and belts.

    • @SCOTTCOD4
      @SCOTTCOD4  Před 7 lety +1

      Yes should be fine. Just remember oil will be in the line so it will run out, so try to hold it up or bung it with something as you pull it off. Also worth noting when you replace the line there COULD be small air bubbles trapped in the line as you push the oil line back on, so maybe put a touch (very small amount) of your 2 stroke in the fuel (if its 2 stoke) just to compensate! (Only a small splash, nothing more)

    • @JG-lx5bo
      @JG-lx5bo Před 5 lety

      Is the oil line going into the carb meant to just sit in the bit it goes into the carb or is it meant be tight when putting in and out

    • @Bidalotroxi
      @Bidalotroxi Před 5 lety

      @@JG-lx5bo its meant to just be floating in the hole. I thought it was an overflow hose and didnt put it back. Oh well, now i need a new cylinder kit
