    First, a disclaimer: So many of you have kindly offered to send me things, including vintage items you may have inherited, and I am so honored you would think of me and of course I do adore vintage treasures, however, unfortunately I only have so much storage space currently! So there is a chance that if something just wont work for me, or doesn't fit me etc, that I may not be able to keep all of your lovely things. Please only send things if you are okay with the possibility that I may donate items I just cannot keep. If you would prefer I put things that I can't keep into the TCH Etsy shop to help raise funds for me and the channel, please specify this in a note or letter in your parcel. Thank you so much!

      I don't sew with material but I can sew clothes I make from Crochet or knitting, I don't know why I can do one but not the other... I've tried but maybe I should try again. I'm older and have more patience and I would love to try again, you and other utuber sewers are inspiring me to give it a shot so I'll be watching all of the sewing utubers more and more...I really would love to get into the older clothes and hats... I'm already getting into the undergarments that I can knit because I bought a book from the 1890's, a reproduction but I love it... now I need to find a book with the actual 1890's clothing I could use to make Victorian clothing... love the style but wouldn't have survived the era itself... hugs Lynn Weasenforth 💯💜💛💙🌹☮️

    Inspiring; now I want to go hat shopping ;-) FYI, there was something called "milk cotton" (fabric made from milk) that was used in the earlier parts of the 20th century. It was also referred to as milk fiber or casein fiber which I'm thinking may be what the "protein fiber" was in one of your hats. I'm also thinking that the wool/casein hat is probably wool and milk. Thanks for sharing your collection!

    Many thanks for such a stunning and informative video. Your collection of 1950s/ 1960s hats is simply superb and you certainly wear them well and have the natural grace to carry them off. I often wear hats in the winter of the 1920s cloche style ( reproduction) and get approached by other middle-aged ladies like myself saying that they wished they could wear hats. My advice to them is just to try on lots and lots of hats until you find a style that feels so comfortable that you do not then realise you are wearing a hat and can be yourself and not self- conscious. A great hat certainly sets off an outfit especially in these oh so casual days of dressing. Many thanks again for your superb style and enthusiasm.

    Thank you for taking us along on your hat conservation storage I enjoyed that a lot!
    I also find that sitting on floors or the ground has a tendency to make my legs fall asleep. Needles and pins time! As this usually happens when I am alone I find trying to work my numb legs into a straight line and lying down for a while until the blood gets moving again very helpful. Hope this helps. May we all have safe opportunities to get out and enjoy one another's company SOON! Blessings on you and your cats!🐱

    Wire hats are easy to make if you have patience with fiddly work. I imagine since you have a lot more patience than I do for beading, plus you're experienced with jewelry making, you'll manage a wire hat just fine. I believe Vogue Patterns may have even re-issued a wire-hat pattern a while ago if you want something like a pattern to start you off to get in the swing of things.

    Went to an antique mall, hunting for shelving, and had to pass up some BEAUTIFUL hats that were a good deal, simply because I don't have space at home. There was a stunning velvet bud/rose wedding hat and a particularly unique black velvet cloche hat with white feathers at the very top of the crown, not all the way just the tip of the crown, and a dotted net on top, not quite reaching the brim. The most impressive part was the preservation!!! I would have bought the cloche, it was so stunning and I think 17$ but I just don't look good in cloches ;-;

    The one that uses casein - that's a man made that comes from milk, if I remember correctly. Maybe the one that says 'protein fibre' is the same sort of thing??
    And on the possibly 80s one - styles like that were definitely around then - hats had a mini resurgence in the 80s, thanks to Princess Diana, and that vagely hostessy style was very popular.

    I love the gold feather hat and I would wear it out anywhere!! It is fabulous and very attractive on you! It's playful and sophisticated at the same time. The green and blue stripe is great! I love hats!! I wear them all of the time. One reason I wear them is because I have to, as I have lupus so I need to be protected from the sun at all times, but I wore them everywhere long before I was diagnosed. I like the wide brim hats with the feathers and flowers on them. I did see a cowboy hat all dressed up with flowers, feathers, veiling and ribbons once and it actually looked great. Didn't buy it though as it cost over $300.00. I do favor large brims that swirl up so I can wear it to the side or straight on with some veiling. Not sure where to look on Etsy in terms of category though. If you have any ideas, please let me know. I somehow ruined my most favorite hat that had a big swirl up in my favorite color purple. The brim got bent somehow, and I tried to moisten it and reshape it, which turned out not well at all. Into the garbage it went. My husband also wears hats all of the time and our group of friends call us the 'lid kids'! LOL! It's so much fun! Thank you for this video. It was great!

    I enjoyed this two-part tour of your hat collection. It is a wonderful one and everything suits you very well. A few of the hats reminded me of hat styles from different countries. The floral one reminded me of Ukrainian folk dancers and the black one with a feather, I think it was, reminded me of the Scottish Glengarry caps. I own a few ball caps but that’s pretty much it, but I do so love to look and listen. It’s fun to imagine what kind of past lives your vintage hats may have had. One might have been out sipping champagne in a night club, all decked out in matching accessories, or maybe perched atop a well coiffed hairdo, out for a Sunday drive while imagining what the future will bring. Or maybe another could have been worn by the fireplace, in a ski lodge cabin while flipping through one of those Montgomery Ward catalogues and sipping hot chocolate. When one is alone and can’t travel or leave the house these days, one has to rely on trips of the mind! 😅 💜

    My grandmother got married in a stunning pale blue suit, and still fit into it on her fiftieth wedding anniversary! She got married in the early fifties

    The black potentially 80's pillbox may very well be 80's. There was a huge surge in popularity in that style of hats, certainly in the UK, thanks to Lady (then Princess) Diana. The 80's does 40's style of hat was a huge trend over here 😊

    I enjoyed your hat collection very much. I had a small vintage hat collection but sold most of them. I kept my 2 favorites. I also have vintage silk flowers and vintage hat magazines still. I am planning on finding a new home for those few items. I will let you know when if you would like to have them for your collection.

    If you are in the Denver metro area an fancy a drive in pursuit of a hat, there is a boutique in Morrison that has a constant influx of head toppers- both new and vintage on consignment. There is also a bridal/ millinery supply shop in Denver south that you can get replacement French Lace and veiling in every color if you feel like you want to “repair” your lovelies. The owner is very knowledgeable on millinery and happy to share her wealth of knowledge with people who show an interest. (I purposefully let off the names because I don’t want to detract from your beautiful collection but resources need to be shared.)

    I graduated high school in '86. I wore a red felt fedora to school. It was awesome! Then when I had my first real job I had a black felt zorro style that I wore as a public transit commuter . Kept the rain off but needed the occasional ironing because I wanted that brim to be crisp! I miss hats. My big problem now is the balance between hats and glasses. It just doesn't feel right to pair them together.
