    I'm pretty sure I'm a TR but it is tough for me to understand what clothes are SG/G vs R/TR. Your videos are super helpful for that. I am a tomboy at heart so I often feel overdressed and awkward in the super romantic stuff. On a quest to find yin flattering but not girly. Love your channel.

      @bejolley1308  Před rokem +3

      Yes, I think there's a lot of overlap between different Kibbe Types like you said. Which could be good because that means it might not look very separate if you wear elements from those other types. Amen to the tomboy stuff! Yeah, I have a more boyish personality than my body, but I believe personality is the most important part of style! Thank you!

      I think I'm a TR, but I have come at terms with the romantic/yin side, so what I do is play with gamine accesories. Hayley Williams, Kristen Stewart, Billie Eillish (to me) represent that dance between yin and yang.

  • @velmavlogs7693
    @velmavlogs7693 Před rokem +6

    You are a SG majesty to me! I think your shoulder line gives you a substance which is often missing on the purely flesh-dom R, and you rock cropped hair in classic G style.
    I’m a Romantic body with Gamine essence and face, and I need to accommodate curves much more than in these outfits which look so good on you.

  • @Hikerphillips
    @Hikerphillips Před rokem +11

    First off, if I was your friend, I would want to give you a hug and say you don’t look puffy or bloated you look beautiful, don’t feel worried about that.
    Secondly, I think because your hair and lipcolor are in contrast to your skin, the clothes that reflect that contrast look really good. That sweater with the white collar is adorable. If you chose later on that you want pastel hair or lighter lipstick, you could change your clothes accordingly. And play around with your glasses color to add dimension as well!
    Also, Salma Hayek is a theatrical romantic and has a similar bone structure in her face. I am pretty certain I am soft gamine. After watching your video and looking at myself, I could see my body actually has more angularity than I noticed before. I think a lot of SG types have long straight waist and short legs. You have more TR features than you realize.
    One other note, it’s tricky to see comparatively when the jeans are the same in all the outfits. Maybe you could try looks with different leg shapes and colors. If you tried some with color-blocking and some with more monochromatic and then maybe some straight leg and wide leg pants. I am 5’2” with a straight waist and for some reason tapered legs just never look good on me. I think a cropped wide leg would look great on you.

    • @bejolley1308
      @bejolley1308  Před rokem +4

      Haha thank you! Even though I hate beauty standards, sometimes they mess with my head, so thanks for reminding me there's nothing wrong with how I look.
      Yeah, I think that contrasting makeup could be a good way for yin types to pull off a little bit of yang. And I think that the hair and glasses can help to pull off different looks like you said. I noticed that my hair color tends to influence my overall color pallet, so hair can be very powerful for pulling off different looks.
      Interesting! Yeah, I feel sharper than a pure romantic, but sometimes softer than gamines. Haha, and people do tend to compliment me in my TR shirts more than other shirts! And it's interesting that you can see that your body is more yang than mine in comparison. I agree that I have a lot of yin and could be a yin type, but it is tricky for my personality being less yin than my body.
      Yes, I've definitely had some pants challenges, and it's hard to find pants that fit right. But I see what you mean with wearing different pants for different outfits! It's interesting that you are petite but you can handle more yang pants--that sounds like a gamine to me. Thanks for the suggestion! I've tried cropped wide leg pants and I like them, but some people think they don't harmonize with how little my calves are. Haha, I guess I just can't please everybody!

    • @Hikerphillips
      @Hikerphillips Před rokem +5

      I looked up Harriet McJimsey’s book online. She says ,”the gamin is the yin version of the natural yang.” She also says gamin is like little and boyish whereas ingenue is akin to little girlish. I never thought of the gamine type like a small version of a natural! My Christmas present this year is to get professionally typed so I don’t have to guess anymore. I had to submit various outfit photos in different lines and that was also very helpful in itself.

    • @EmL-kg5gn
      @EmL-kg5gn Před 11 měsíci +3

      If you feel softer than gamines I think it’s still worth considering soft gamine! I remember someone saying that they can be a lot softer than people expect. Also if you’re feeling dissonance between your personality and kibbe type you might find kitchener’s essence system easier to use? Or even the older systems like McJimsey’s?? They both account more for personality imo! But regardless of the system, your personal expression matters. You’re so right about how you can’t please everyone and how beauty standards can mess with us. At the end of the day what matters is your comfort and that you’re having fun!!! Some of my favourite clothes have been ones that people around me hate, but just because it isn’t for them doesn’t mean it’s not for me!

    I love the gamine lines for you! Also, just toying with ideas for when things feel too yin or not gamine or fun enough-- with the collared pieces, I think a sort of collar link/jewelry would look awesome! (Not great at explaining it lmao for gamine, maybe some funky jewel that pins onto each collar, with a little chain in the middle. I've seen some before, idk if this makes any sense)

    Wow, you have an amazing eye for detail and communicate it so clearly. Very fun exploration here of R vs. G. Stumbled on your channel, on video 2 now. Thank you!!
    I heard the idea once, MAYBE on Truth Is Beauty blog?, of dressing for the essence of specific body sections. Like so your "yin" bust being dressed here in Romantic shirts while keeping the rest more overall Gamine. They said it in a makeup context, like say "Ingenue" makeup on someone's Ingenue eyes but then maybe their cheekbones are more dramatic so "Dramatic" blush. My theory is maybe Gamines do well with choppy, staccato, surprising opposites so could especially do well with that compartimentalizing - as opposed to say a Classic wanting everything to subtlely blend evenly together.
    Maybe these mom jeans would look even better on you in say black?

    The SG outfits make me feel like I know you personally and the TR outfits make me feel like you are a person I’m watching on youtube if that makes sense. I think your personality really shines through in the Gamine lines.
    I’m just learning about kibble body types and as someone who tends toward genderfluid but I’m almost always fem presenting this has been so helpful! I think I’m TR but might have some gamine as well. I wasn’t sure how to incorporate the elements without feeling too fem. I feel so confused about dress the right one makes me feel beautiful but sometimes I just can wear them. • @bejolley1308
      @bejolley1308  Před rokem

      That can be tough if you have yin mixed with some soft yang! Have you tried slightly more relaxed lines, like Soft Natural? If you have some soft yang, you could test to see how relaxed of lines you can pull off. If you're swallowed by pure natural lines, then you might not be soft natural. You could also try to make a soft gamine outfit of a mix of yin and soft yang lines, like a feminine top with a more relaxed jacket or cropped wide leg pants. Or you could try a theatrical romantic top mixed with looser bottoms/ or a relaxed top with tighter bottoms. I do believe it's possible to be a mixture of more than one type, or have a different essence from your type, so I think that the "rules" don't always have to be black and white. Sorry for this long reply, but hopefully something helped! Thanks for your opinion, so far, most people think that I'm a soft gamine!

    I just noticed this video, I'm sorry for double posting since I posted my humble opinion (with too long of an explanation, haha) on your SN vs. SG. video :) But once again I think that you're a pure Natural! (I know that Kibbe doesn't recognize some pure types anymore, and I think it's a crime, because so many people are closer to being pure than they are to the more yin or yang sides of the spectrum.) I think the reason why you feel bloated in some of these outfits is that 1) they are cinching your shoulders, waist, and ankles, plus creating round lines - whereas your bones are rectangular and slim, hence the clothes are creating "circle" shapes on a "rectangle" body and therefore they're adding "visual weight" to your body. (This is a VERY bad analogy, but imagine trying to wrap a balloon around a straw = the straw would get lost inside the round balloon and not look like its real self1) 2) your pants are shortened and high-waisted, and since your bones are long (for your petite size), they give the illusion that your pants are too small for you. You would probably look amazing in pants that are just a little bit lower than the ankle, or even some wide leg pants that completely hide your foot (also a lowered waist). But at 11:23, notice how outfit #4 gives you enough "space" in your arms by being a bigger and looser sleeve type, plus #4 creates a squarish shoulder shape for you and really matches the "rectangular" shape that you already have, hence your shoulders don't look "undefined / invisible" anymore :)

    @kittycarousel Před 3 měsíci

    Definitely gamine! I didn't watch the whole video just the first part. But. The 'romantic' tops are too yin on you - you don't actually look feminine in them because you're not quite yin enough. I'm 99% sure I'm a (soft) gamine and I, too, look super cute in a high neckline. A button-down shirt buttoned all the way up actually looks cute, and I look feminine in it! You have to balance it with hair and makeup - now your hair is really short, so it's a bit on the yang side, BUT you can part it on the side (gamine) and then add feminine elements like jewelry and makeup. When I had a pixie cut, I found that dangle earrings were the perfect pairing with the short hair (AND you could really see them, unlike with long hair!) You look a lot like me with a rounder jaw, I have more square jaw - but I think soft gamine fits for me, and for you. You look really cute with the high necklines and the cuffed pants (which are gamine!). In the gamines, you look like yourself - in the romantics you look like you're trying to dress up. Hope it helps!

    I thought I was romantic, but I also have broader shoulders, but I have a wider frame. I'm short, but don't look as short as I am. Turns out I'm soft natural and I feel so much better in those lines. The romantic lines on you make you look like you're wearing someone elses clothes almost. Or like when someone more masculine has to wear a dress to the family event because their mom insists, if that makes sense. Not nearly as awkward as shane from the L word in that quinceanera dress though, but it still looks a little off

  • @xyz-jv9df
    @xyz-jv9df Před rokem +2

    I am finding it difficult to classify you into romantic or sg because
    1. You have some natural essence(mc jimsey classification) in your facial features.
    2. So even if you were a romantic, a romantic style top might not look at home on you, unless you add some natural essence details to your top too
    3. And given your natural facial essence, a more yang dominant gamine top might also look good on you, making it difficult to classify you
    4. So please try sg and romantic tops with some natural details to them, as that would neutralise the natural essence in your face n make it easier to determine your sg vs romantic body type
    5. If you have not already considered it, plz try out soft natural too
    6. I don't mean to offend your dressing style at all, n if I do. I am really sorry. If you are still finding it difficult to determine your type. . .plz try out some dresses with romantic n sg lines,but u don't have to buy them. Just try them out, take some pics for your reference, n walk out of the store without buying them.
    Again, I am not pushing you to wear dresses, it's sometimes easier to determine your body type if you try different silhouettes. Just use the dresses as an instrument to figure out your body type. . . N then you do you 😃

  • @siunkii
    @siunkii Před 6 měsíci

    While I love and agree with the commentary, the outfits don't really speak Romantic at all - I think the first issue is starting with thick-material jeans haha... If we wear jeans, it's the skinny kind with the most stretch you can get. Anything else will make me feel bloated and gross and no matter how big or small the jeans are, *I* feel big in them. Then goes the tops; they have sharp necklines and harsh contrast to the skin and your jean color, taking it away from the softness of 100% yin. The mock-neck is also filled with a too-tight neckline, straight knit texture and.. yeah. With an open, draped neck it would be something more Romantic-fitting.
    Soo, I'd say, yes, with these examples, the Soft Gamine fits you so much more, haha. But I'd recommend still trying out some full yin outfits (say, candy colored lace tops or super intricate open neckline mohair sweaters etc, paired with a thinner fabric pants or a satin mermaid skirt), to see even more how that goes with your lines. I think your face reads very soft and rounded when in the SG lines - so it's personable and fun for you to wear, but it's not exactly "as God made you" kind of a deal, if you get what I mean. But hey, it is incredibly tricky to find Romantic-fitting clothes in today's fashion world - it seems like no matter how I try, all clothing pieces have some sort of yang-element to them, and in need of some tailoring to be truly fitting for my lines. We are the only 100% yin body ID after all - the fashion industry does not really need to cater to us to make money

    I'm a romantic / ingenue.... You look definitely like you're part of the Gamine family
    Romantics are round in slightly wide round shape make the body so round shapes would be everywhere on the romantic a romantic would be double curved
    Gamine have a mixture of shapes and looking at you have a bunch of mix shapes going on.... because I have round eyes ,round lips ,round face & double curved I definitely look like two circles sitting on top of each other I'm just rounded everywhere but you look mixed and not like you have all circles to you that's why I would say you can definitely can pull off some Yang styles more than some of the more yin styles and you mentioned the classics....classics look more mature to me they have that elegant look to them that's not the energy I'm getting from you it more like Emma Watson who I think is the original gamine type ..... Gamine can look younger but not all gamine look young like Ariana grande and I think someone typed her as flamboyant gamine with ingenue essence .. Halle Berry doesn't have a ingenue essence she has a more mature face and Halle Berry is typed as soft gamine ...you're giving me edgy teen/ tomboyish /rebellious look not sensual or sexy or elegant/ classy or girlish teen type of energy so you could be the original gamine the one that looks boyish or soft gamine the one has a more teenage girly or you can also be a blended type like me
    Hope this helps best of luck to you

    High waisted jeans are trickier for most people. I wish they would go away.

    Tbh you give drew Barrymore...🤷🏻‍♀️ I feel like you are pretty yin and could be a romantic but it's clashing with your personality. The bloating you see might be mainly in the face because you have very short hair. Not sure. Either way, how the clothes make you feel is more important.

    Actually, you look like an FG! You can use Kelly Osbourne as a reference

    I think your pants do not go with both style you are trying…too long for both style, stiff…I see a similarity in your face with Salem Halek,…I think if you wear a flare pants close to your body, this will be in balance with your nice shoulders, and the bag not across, more a clutch one…❤ I personally prefer the first tops with a more suitable pair of pants…you’ll rock

    I like the black tops with patterns with the lighter color jeans. Your hair is similar color to mine. I'm 53. Let my dye fade totally, cut it all away back in mid-June. I have a VERY similar figure, and I'm also 5'2". Merriam typed me "romantic ", but I don't feel "womanly" enough to pull off the romantic vibe. So, I'm working on color palette right now. I've gone through about HALF of all the colors I own. I've seriously figured out that I am "soft autumn " in color palette. I'm needing my pants to be a bit lighter than my tops--that looks "right" in photos. I need whole dresses, not blouse/skirt combo-- that never works for me!! I feel more myself in chunkier shoes, when possible. I can pull off cropped pants AND wide-legged loose trousers. I can pull off leggings very well, too.
    My face always looks full in photos....
    I don't look right at all in angular collars!!!!
    People comment that I look "puffy".
    Five pounds gained or lost gets the "Have you lost/gained weight?" comments.
    I know you will figure this out soon.
    I like your videos and personality.
    I just want to tell you -- I'm a believer in Jesus. I disagree with the LGBTQ lifestyle because in the Bible, God's word lists it as sin. However, I want to be clear that God loves YOU. He made you unique and for purpose. And there are many sins listed in scripture. My husband is an alcoholic. I wish he were not. He can't stay away from it. He's tried rehabs and he has left by the 5th day everytime. I haven't given up on him yet. He has many good qualities. A narcissist mother, no daddy, an abusive step daddy for a few years, childhood sexual abuse once from an adult male, etc. , childhood neglect and emotional abuse from his mother --- these all contributed to how he became an alcoholic. I'm using alcoholism as a topic because scripture also says "drunkards" will not enter Heaven. This man is a believer in Jesus, too. Anyhow, I just want you to know that as I've watched your videos, I feel a caring about your soul. When I see your videos pop up, I'm going to pray for you right then. What is your first name? Do you have any specific needs today that I can pray about?

      Lol, then don't watch this video. I know them and they're a really sweet and awesome person, and they work really hard on their videos. If you don't like it, then just watch something else. There's absolutely no reason to be rude.
