The State of AI: Opportunities, Limitations and Dangers - Lecture by Amnon Shashua

Artificial Intelligence began a new renaissance with the resurrection of deep convolutional networks in 2012, deep reinforcement learning in 2015 and Transformers in 2017 - taken together, AI has become a force of incredible potential from enabling autonomous driving to content generation to problem-solving machines to “agents” capable of reasoning and creative ideation.
In my talk, I will describe the current state of the technology, where do I see the limits of it (abstracting and reasoning), and introduce the dangers of “AI alignment” both in Language Models and Machine Learning in general.
