- Mikis Theodorakis conducting and singing in the industrial town of Sauda at the west-coast of Norway. The concert is held inside a huge smelting plant where they produce steel. This gives a spectacular athmosphere to the music and the poems in Canto Gereral (by Pablo Neruda). In this video you will also meet Arja Sijomaa, Maria Farantouri, Petros Pandis and Lakis Karnezis.
Construction of the plant began in 1915 and trial production began in 1923. DVD with the part1 and 2 you can buy from engarde@online.no - Hudba

The film is a visual and mucical homage to the workers of the smelting plant and to the great Chilean poet Pablo Neruda, and of course to Miks the great!

Ode to Pablo Neruda
At one end of the world
there where the accent changes on the lips
and where the supplication gallops
the thick rain of sleep
there where the desert intact kiss
the icebergs of green miracles
and where the lengths fall in love with the coast
there for a look collapsed multi-storey cycles
of putrefaction and thinking set
lakes of water with an endless golden rain.
There, some lips built the earth
and gave language a life shape.
Alli Ejedoros1 multiplied the sources
and I blow the candle of the mind that I travel
the catharsis in the wet sand of the earth.
And when time gave birth to serenity
and the fatal anus had barely left its scent
the day ducentsimo sexagesimo sixth
the silence crossed the Andes
on a night walk grazing the words
and in the disorderly obstinacy of reflections
there where the union of the unaffiliated did not arrive
and the howling of the wolves
I trace the dense midday sun
there will not shade the eyes, the visor,
that squeezed flirting
the last thoughts of the waters.
Today they said that they went back centuries
and dig immortality
in the same final number of the year of the dead syllables.
Today, April 8, I swallowed the light
the bones received the sun in their pores.
Behind the mirror river
the tight hatreds were resolved

PABLO NERUDA - DO NOT BLAME ANYONE
Never complain about anyone, or anything, because fundamentally you have done what you wanted in your life. Accept the difficulty of building yourself and the courage to start correcting yourself. The triumph of the true man arises from the ashes of his error.
Never complain about your loneliness or your luck, confront it with courage and accept it. One way or another is the result of your actions and proof that you always have to win.
Do not become bitter about your own failure or upload it to another, accept now or continue justifying yourself as a child. Remember that any moment is good to start and none is so terrible to give up.
Do not forget that the cause of your present is your past as well as the cause of your future will be your present.
Learn from the bold, from the strong, from those who do not accept situations, from those who will live in spite of everything, think less about your problems and more about your work and your problems without eliminating them will die.
Learn to be born from pain and to be bigger than the greatest of obstacles, look at yourself in the mirror and you will be free and strong and you will stop being a puppet of circumstances because you yourself are your destiny.
Get up and look at the sun in the morning and breathe in the light of dawn. You are part of the force of your life, now wake up, fight, walk, decide and you will triumph in life; never think about luck, because luck is: the pretext of the losers.

En un extremo del mundo
alli donde el acento cambia en los labios
y donde la suplica galopa
la lluvia espesa del sueno
alli donde el desierto intacto beso
los icebergs de los milagros verdes
y donde las longitudes se enamoran del litoral
alli por una mirada se derrumbaron ciclos de varios pisos
de putrefaccion y el pensamiento configuro
lagos de nenufares con una lluvia dorada interminable.
Alli unos labios edificaron la tierra
y dio forma la lengua a la vida.
Alli Ejedoros1 multiplico las fuentes
y soplo la vela de la mente que viajo
la catarsis en la arena humeda de la tierra.
Y cuando el tiempo daba a luz a la serenidad
y el ano fatal apenas habia dejado su olor
el dia ducentesimo sexagesimo sexto
el silencio atraveso los Andes
en un paseo nocturno de pastoreo de las palabras
y en la obstinacion desordenada de las reflexiones
alli donde la union de los no afiliados no llego
y el aullido de los lobos
trazo los densos mediodias de sol
alli no sombreara los ojos, la visera,
que apretaba coqueteando
los ultimos pensamientos de las aguas.
Hoy dijeron que se atrasaron siglos
y excavan la inmortalidad
en el mismo numero final del ano de las silabas muertas.
Hoy ocho de abril, que trague la luz
los huesos recibieron al sol en sus poros.
Detras del rio del espejo
se resolvieron los odios apretados
y un nombre adquirieron nuestras arrugas: Pablo.

PABLO NERUDA - NO CULPES A NADIE
Nunca te quejes de nadie, ni de nada, porque fundamentalmente tú has hecho lo que querías en tu vida. Acepta la dificultad de edificarte a ti mismo y el valor de empezar corrigiéndote. El triunfo del verdadero hombre surge de las cenizas de su error.
Nunca te quejes de tu soledad o de tu suerte, enfréntala con valor y acéptala. De una manera u otra es el resultado de tus actos y prueba que tú siempre has de ganar.
No te amargues de tu propio fracaso ni se lo cargues a otro, acéptate ahora o seguirás justificándote como un niño. Recuerda que cualquier momento es bueno para comenzar y que ninguno es tan terrible para claudicar.
No olvides que la causa de tu presente es tu pasado así como la causa de tu futuro será tu presente.
Aprende de los audaces, de los fuertes, de quien no acepta situaciones, de quien vivirá a pesar de todo, piensa menos en tus problemas y más en tu trabajo y tus problemas sin eliminarlos morirán.
Aprende a nacer desde el dolor y a ser más grande que el más grande de los obstáculos, mírate en el espejo de ti mismo y serás libre y fuerte y dejarás de ser un títere de las circunstancias porque tu mismo eres tu destino.
Levántate y mira el sol por las mañanas y respira la luz del amanecer. Tú eres parte de la fuerza de tu vida, ahora despiértate, lucha, camina, decídete y triunfarás en la vida; nunca pienses en la suerte, porque la suerte es: el pretexto de los fracasados.
