- I wanted to redo my previous video about Ryder and his betrayal as well as add to my " An Analysis " series. Here it is. I took long to upload as I was taking some time to learn about Abode AE before I started on this video.

Ryder betraying was just thrown in at the last minute once MC eiht quit. He was never supposed to betray grove street, and was actually supposed to die in a shootout with the cops. So there are no clues to a betrayal
There is a theory that Ryder is not meant to be a betrayer in the beginning of the story's development but was later made one because R* got into trouble with his voice actor..
If you take into consideration that nobody talks about Ryder's betrayal in the later part of the storyline that theory makes sense
True that's a good point, Even Sweet or Big Smoke don't even mention Ryder at all after the betrayal which is weird considering how close they were.
Ryder was also rude to Carl Johnson and after betrayal I dont know what happen to him
@@furqantarique3484 Ryder was only "rude" to CJ because he left the Grove for 5 years and caused everything to go upside down until he returned. Later before the betrayal, CJ gains Ryder's respect back.

Making Ryder betray Grove street is one of the worst decisions rockstar ever made. Yeah the voice actor left so they had to get rid of him but they should’ve just made him die in the green Sabre shootout, instead of the weird/forced betrayal that made zero sense. Would’ve made the impact of the green Sabre hit harder and not ruined one of the best characters in gta.
True, it would have been a lot more impactful for his character. He was killed off like a random nobody in the mission pier 69 and I think he was only mentioned once briefly after the mission and then forgotten
:)Ryder is never excited to see CJ and rarely shows any legitimate homie love when he comes around unlike Sweet, Kendl, [and even Big Smoke]! He repeatedly caps on CJ and is always constantly bashing him and belittling him on every mission and calls him a "Busta" even when he does good. No matter how much work CJ puts in, he's always pickin on him and finds sumthin to cap on CJ about. Its obvious that Ryder didn't want CJ to come back to The Groove bcuz he saw him as a threat to his and Big Smokes alliance with Crash, and The Ballas! Big Smoke knew that but his approach to the situation was a little different, he used the homie, big brother/mentor role to manipulate him and to maintain his trust, and used him as an asset and his game plan was to keep him close [Tenpenny and Pulaski were also using him and Ryder as assets to keep CJ close and to keep him occupied]. 2:)He shows multiple signs of jealousy and envy towards CJ, especially every time the crew compliments CJ! :)He and Big Smoke abandoned CJ in "Reuniting The Families" was their Biggest hint! Bailing on your crew in the middle of a mission is a code violation of any gang, cartel, kingpin, mafia, guerilla, mercenary or armed military forces. YOU CAN'T DO THAT!! Tenpenny and Pulaski walking into Ryders house while hes cooking sherm, and Ryder is visibly seen giving Sherm to Officer Tenpenny in the mission "Catalyst" and offers no explanation for it, and informs them both about a cargo train loaded with munition crates and CJ helps rider to grab them. This is obviously cargo secretly being obtained for C.R.A.S.H, and neither Ryder or Officer Tenpenny wasn't telling Carl, and Carl didnt catch on bcuz he never would've expected Ryder or Smoke to be alligned with The Ballas or C.R.A.S.H! 😅🤣 )At OG Loc's Party when CJ and Grove Street get ambushed by a whole army of Ballas, Ryder dissapears (claiming to get backup) and never returns).
Almost all of Ryders missions are about obtaining weapons and ammunition, munition cargo crates, and supplies for Ryder when secretly they were for C.R.A.S.H, The Ballas, Big Smokes secret operation, and CJ never caught on to it. CJ was also Coerced by Smoke into helping him take out The Russian Mafia and organized cats that were deemed a threat to his operation, the same operation that killed his Mom, and was secretly trying to take him and Sweet out and dismantle Grove Street and CJ and Sweet never caught on until it was too late! 😅🤣
The missions for Ryder wasn't helping Grove Street either. They were secretly for Tenpenny, C.R.A.S.H, and The Rifas who also formed a secret alliance with The Ballas and Vagos to take out The Grove Street Families and The Varrios Los Aztecas [Lead by Cesar] as well as their other allies. He manipulates CJ into thinking these are for The Grove Street when factually they are really for the enemy whom hes secretly working for undercover, and you may notice he hides all these armed weapons, explosives, and other goods in storage garages without Sweets knowledge, but Officer Tenpenny and Pulaski seem to be hip tho.
It was revealed later on that rockstargames originally intended for Ryder to be a supporting character, but later decided it would be better suited for him to play an antagonist role instead bcuz it made much more sense for the story plot, but everything in the game story hints at Ryders betrayal. He has all the personality attributes of a traitor and he manipulated CJ and coerced him into copping ammunition for the enemy, and he was always dissing CJ, always capping on him, calling him a buster, and rarely ever complimented him or showed him love. His 1st day back in Los Santos, Ryder says "Why the hell did you even bother coming back!? You're just a liability CJ" in the
Ryder said they were going for sweet because it was really obvious
1. Sweet is the leader of the gang so it was really a big reason why they would go for him
2. Their mum was really killed on accident, theres no reason for the mum and kendl being targets since they werent even part of the gang, so they might of expected to hit sweet during the drive by
I don’t think Beverly’s death was an accident. Because if they wanted to take down Grove St. it was an okay idea to take out CJ’s mom. Think about it, since they took out Beverly, Sweet, CJ would be focused on their mom’s death, Ryder & Big Smoke would be focusing on the sting operation. So, the ballaz had all the time they wanted to take down Grove Street. They just didn’t do it at the right time.
Ryder is addicted to PCP (Angel Dust), that's what all the references to "Hit the Wet", "Water" and "Wet Spot" are. Not very useful knowledge, I know, but I've met tons of people who had no idea what Ryder was saying he was on or what "Hitting the Wet" meant when CJ calls him out on it.
On the contrary, It's quite useful knowledge as It kinda explains how he doesn't act that rational considering he's addicted to PCP. thank you for the comment

7:27 I liked the way he acted with C.R.A.S.H., it shows his mind was in the right place at the time... unlike Smoke, we're they PRETEND to hate C.R.A.S.H., but actually work with/for them
MC Eiht voiced him and had a falling out with rockstar.
Rockstar could of easily replaced him subtly with a Rapper named B-Legit who sounded a helluva lot like Eiht.
He rapped in the Click along side E-40.

I have a few theories for ryder:
1) He was probably not meant to be betrayed, dude to how weird the way he dies, like he is nothing, even though he is an important character. Could be due to the issues with mc eiht.
2) He could have been killed in the shootout in the green sabre mission.
3) He is probably still a betrayer, but in a more proper way. He is a little bit suspicious in the reuniting families mission. He followed big smoke and left cj and sweet to kill the swat. If he is really loyal, he would have stayed with CJ to fight through the swat and save sweet, aka the leader of the grove. Judging by his kind of character, I dont think he would be afraid of fighting through the swat, since he is the one that always calls CJ a busta for running away from shit. Actually, there is a beta version of the mission photo opportunity, where CJ first met ryder in the loco syndicate meet in a helicopter, and got shocked. So, it could be possible that ryder is not meant to be in the green sabre mission, thats why CJ never mentioned him. After the green sabre mission, it could be possible that tenpenny threatened ryder to fully work with big smoke or else he would be dead or arrested with sweet. So ryder could be a 'forced betrayal'. Ryder might be loyal to the grove in the beginning, however, in the later part of the los santos chapter, he might be threatened by big smoke and tenpenny. The introduction doesnt make sense at all that he easily agrees with big smoke to betray sweet, since he is so loyal to the grove in the beginning.
Ryder’s betrayal doesn’t make sense to the fans because it was handled relatively poorly, and people are extremely disappointed with how he dies with half-assed lines, which is understandable. In my opinion it does make sense, coupled by everything you said. Ryder is a hypocrite. While I do get why people respect his anti stance towards crack his hypocrisy is unquestioned because he smokes marijuana constantly, as well as PCP. Ryder was always jealous of CJ, and his disrespectful attitude was sometimes totally uncalling for, such as why’d you bother coming back?. Like wtf. His jealousy toward Carl was very apparent, and his code is bullshit, because his abandonment of Carl and Sweet in Reuniting the Families shows that. He’s a disloyal piece of shit, and his betrayal is just as bad as Smoke’s. The only benefit of the doubt I can give him is that he is an entertaining character and he died disrespectfully unlike T-Bone.

Big Smoke was the nicest to CJ in the beginning and he turned out to be a snake

Meanwhile Ryder, despite CJ's low respect stat, always rolled with him in every mission. And just like sweet and all the GSF homies in the beginning, wasn't insulting CJ out of hatred, but out of disappointment. Because CJ abandoned the grove after Brian's death for 5 whole years and never even visited, only returned when another family member passed away.
Also the jealousy is kind of an argument against his betrayal rather than for. Because ask yourself, why's Ryder jealous of CJ? The answer is because CJ has gotten all the respect and appreciation from Sweet and the homies while Ryder got none despite all his efforts. Hol up, if Ryder doesn't care about the GSF and is willing to snake them for whatever then why tf would he value and care about their opinion about him? Doesn't add up imo.
Finally, the reuniting the families thing, well that's probably the best argument in favour of his betrayal but I do think it's a bit more ambiguous than one thinks because it could easily be that Ryder was just panicking at that moment.

While catalyst is the only mission you attack ballas with ryder, Ryder didn't knew about tempenny giving a tip about the train to every gang as he seems both surprised when they find vagos already there also when the ballas show up, so he had to shoot them not by choice but because of the circumstance

Also cleaning the hood, drive-by and drive thru are other missions that Ryder helps in blasting Ballas

sorry for the late reply. I used adobe after effects or premiere pro ( i think it was after effects ) and the puppet pin tool alongside some keyframes. I brought in a image and use the puppet pin tool on it.
