Someone in the comments confirmed it, but this being a song about your feelings on the series, rather than about the series itself makes this one special. You've been here for me through your music, so I can at least repay the favor and listen to your new stuff

  • @Maple_774
    @Maple_774 Před rokem +890

"Another melody of somebody's story, I'll finally admit I don't care"
"Ready to wake up from this nightmare"
"If I say what's on my mind will they all leave me behind"
"So many years I thought it was ending"
"So I gotta reach out and write an ending, an ending for myself"
Both rap parts and chorus's as well, specifically "Wanna know the day I knew nobody pray for me? The day somebody told me your legacy" That line hits the hardest imo.
This is the ultimate goodbye FNaF (and other fandoms) song. On the first listen I was catching all the references, on the second and third I started actually listening to the lyrics without connecting it to the past songs and man, it's rough.
I personally love the original stuff, the fact that we only have 2 albums of purely original music (aside from 'Heroes Never Die', that's basically an Overwatch song) in the 10 years you've been doing music is crazy to me. I miss the fancy music videos and lyrics that didn't involve games or shows/anime. I look forward to the future where we (hopefully) get more of that stuff.
Also one more thing to note that I find interesting, nearly 7 years ago, October 31st of 2015, 'The Finale' was released. Back when we all thought it was over, and here we are 8 years later with the series still ongoing.

"On the first listen I was catching all the references, on the second and third I started actually listening to the lyrics without connecting it to the past songs and man, it's rough." Same here. on first listen I was going in with the idea that "oh, this is a fnaf song, it's got to have some relation to fnaf lore." and then some lines half way through completely flipped how I saw it and pointed to the actually theme, and sure enough, on relisten it I got the meaning of the song. Genuinely I feel like this is a great song. not only as a song for fans of his past fnaf music, but just a great song based around the idea of gaining fame from doing the same thing over and over again. a great look into his head. which I think is really the point of art in the end. to get across an emotion or idea in an interesting way.

I absolutely love how personal this song is. One of the things I enjoy most about Nate's songs is how expressive they are, how much emotion is packed into each lyric and note, this being especially the case with his originals. This may be the end of an era, but that doesn't mean the next one won't be even better - and I honestly can't wait to see what's in store for us in the future.

    Lyrics:
Maybe I could say it's the last time
Or maybe I could say I'm scared
    Another melody of somebody's story
    I'll finally admit I don't care
It's been years and I can feel the end is near
'Cause I'm burnt out and I'm mangled
Ready to wake up from this nightmare
    Wake me up
    Before I close the book
I always flip to the start
I just tryna get a look
Of why I'm sick of the art
It all began with a spark
The power, fame, dollars and chance took the charge
Made me less than its parts
I didn't want it this way
I used to long for this day
    Yeah the money was great
But sucked me into this phase
And now the dream that I was chasing
Seems to chain me in place
'Cause this game it just takes
And it takes and it takes
    Will I rot away?
If I said what's on my mind
Will they all leave me behind?
    I thought I was safe
Thought that I'd see brighter days
Was I a shadow meant to fade all along?
Did I lose my way from pretending?
    Another suit without a soul
So many years I thought it was ending
But it opened up and swallowed me whole
    No happy endings
    Will rise and show themselves
    So I gotta reach out
    And write and ending
    And ending for myself
    Before I close the book
I always skip to the end
See will I ever fall in love
    With making music again
Or did I give up all my passion and friends
    To run a factory line
That I'll just replace when I finally left
Yo, wanna know the day I knew nobody pray for me
The day somebody told me this your legacy
This is what you'll stay to be
    Unless you make a break
'Cause this game it just takes
And it takes and it takes
    It's been years
There ain't nothing for me here
    I was broken and alone
    But now I'm home
    Will I rot away?
If I said what's on my mind
Will they all leave me behind?
    I thought I was safe
Thought that I'd see brighter days
Was I a shadow meant to fade all along?
    Will I rot away?
If I stand up and say
    Say what plagues my mind
    Will they leave me...
    Will you leave me behind?
    My god with that lyrics.
    We will miss you Nate

I nearly lost it at the Salvaged reference because it’s always been my uncontested favorite fnaf song of all time. This song feels less like a song about fnaf itself but Nate’s decision to move on, wondering if we’re gonna leave him since he’s leaving fnaf. The lyrics themselves also perfect for any sort of situation I want to imagine in my head since I relate to them. It mentions the way fnaf sucked millions of people in and how Nate feels almost trapped in it when making music. Lastly, the first transition from Cam to Nate was phenomenal.

I noticed this the first time I listened to it! This is the first song I listened to and it isn't my number one favorite. I will say that Young Forever is my number one favorite, Nothing to Me is my second favorite.
I have had dreams that most of these songs, with the characters in them, were constantly chasing me at 60 mph down my street and straight up singing Nate's songs and causing me to have nightmares.
Sadly, I did develop self harm thoughts after having those nightmares because the dreams were telling me what had happened to me was my fault and that I should be 6 feet under, which later on became so bad that I did attempt to leave the world behind.
The running down my street thing and the characters chasing after me, holding a suit to stuff me into once they caught up to me, was telling me that I was closing my feelings and emotions and thoughts from the outside world and I wanted to never come out of my room (stuffing me inside the suit being that example).
The last nightmare I had was back in May when I came out as Hetero-romantic Asexual (it went The nightmare ended in me being murdered by a guy who abused me and was very toxic to me and my family, and my friends, and stuffing my body in a box and throwing it into the ocean. The nightmare also had 3 of my online friends, one from Ukraine, one from Russia, and one from my home state (South Carolina), that were murdered by him, which he was represented as the Purple Guy (aka William Afton), and I was forced to watch my friends get murdered and stuffed into suits and see them get abandoned as well.
I have a fear of being abandoned and three of those friends being taken from me and me being thrown into the ocean so my spirit could be separated from the spirits of my friends, made my fear of being abandoned even worse.
I woke up from those nightmares screaming the names of my friends and I always cried when I did. The war in Ukraine has probably killed my friend from Ukraine and my other friend from Russia, and those friends promised to be by my side as much as possible. Another online friend of mine who lived close to where the missile hit Poland is okay, but they left for Canada to stay for the rest of their life...

It was very heartbreaking to hear this song honestly, it was very good but it also made me very sad for him because it's not fair what the community has done. All you guys do is ask and take from him, and don't give him a chance to do what he really wants to do. Literally, it's been 10 years and he only has 2 albums of pure original music out.

You're an incredibly talented song writer Nate, I discovered you from your FNaF music and stuck around ever since. It got me through mentally rough times and was definitely a part of why FNaF became so special to me in the first place- because of the fan content it inspired, like yours. All the callbacks to the last near decade of songs(and cameo from Hold on to You, which I enjoy since KH is how I found you way back on the cover for Simple and Clean) while also being a sonnet and airing of grievances for a retrospective on FNAF as a franchise is one fantastical send off to you, Nate.

I don't think this is a song about FNAF, I think it's a song about the fandom, or fandoms in general. It shows how fandoms treat artists, how they constantly ask and ask for more songs about the thing they like and them proceed to bombard them with hate when they change subject, it is truly a sad thing.

A lot of Nate's songs about FNAF comes from the perspective of either the fans of fnaf, or Nate himself (talking about his feelings, talking to the fans, talking to Scott [I have a giant comment on one of the SB songs I think about all the lines that do this in all his songs up until then I think]), but this is definitely the most obvious, having several lines spelling it out for people rather then one or two. I've always noticed these double meaning lines and have been aware of how tired of FNAF Nate's gotten for years now, so I'm happy he feels like he can let go of FNAF now and his fandom songs. Like always I love the nods to Salvaged and Home, and I can't wait to see where he goes from here as Sandcastle Kingdoms and Paid In Exposure are some of my favourite albums.

Edit: as I’m listening, it feels bittersweet. The end of an era. The references to his other FNAF songs always get me. I can’t help but feel for him when it comes to making content based around the dang thing for almost a decade. It’s draining, and completely valid to wonder if your following will keep up if that ever changes. All in all, I am so ready for the album, and whatever comes in the future.

This song is an actual masterpiece! The lyrics are so hard-hitting and resonating, and combined with the powerful and driving instrumental it's impossible not to headbang to! Absolutely loved the contrast between the rap verses from Cam as well as the main vocals from Nate, makes for such a cool blend of melodic and rhythmic switch-up in the different sections of the track!
The first song I ever listened to from NWTB was Monster Inside from the Mangled album in 2015 and I've been here ever since, loving and listening to the music that has helped aid me through some pretty difficult times, and I can say that it has definitely eased my journey along the way to where I find myself in better times today...
Always been a fan of the stuff you put out there, whether it was fandom songs, anime covers, and even your original music as well! Thank you for bringing your skill and hard work to these songs you create, it's always amazing to see what you come up with! Wow. Such a strong song. You expressing your feelings over making fandom music under the guise of a FNAF song. (And with a sprinkle of what I presume to be a Hamilton reference or two; "The game it just takes and it takes and it takes" and the focus on legacy/your history). I'm sorry it ate at you doing these wonderful songs for the past 10+ years for every fandom under the sun, and while part of me wishes you'd eventually return I absolutely understand that this is for real. Regardless, I'll still support you and your music just as I have many years before.
Nightmare was actually my first introduction to your music and is still one of my all-time favorites, though there are of course countless other good songs (original, fandom-made, covers, etc) that I play on repeat.
All in all, thank you for the wonderful past 10 years of music. You're an inspiration to me, to us all, and possibly to other music artists under the GHR name. Your hard work and drive partially inspired me to want to make video games someday.

I'm a little late to all of this, but I only recently found out about Nate leaving the community and everything.
I think I speak for everyone here when I say, albeit with a very heavy heart, that it's sad. And we will all miss Nate.
Nate was, and still will be, a major part of this community. His songs left such strong impacts on the franchise and the fandom surrounding it, and that is something that can never be erased.
I am very sad that Nate is leaving, however I am fully understanding to why he is doing what he is doing. I'm honestly surprised so many other FNaF content creators aren't burned out either at this point.
It will be hard to let go of these times. The times when we were given new songs, new ideas, new content that we could enjoy. But that doesn't mean that I won't enjoy what we've been given in the past.
In fact, I think I will treasure these songs even more, knowing that they are the last remaining thing from this creator for this community.
This song in particular hits hard. Knowing that the lyrics are from Nate's view on the games and the franchise and the pressure that came with it from fans that kept on demanding and demanding.
It must have been tough and very difficult. I don't think I could have ever handled all of this myself.
So with one final wave I say goodbye to someone who has been through so much with all of us.
Nate, I hope you feel much lighter, now that you left the community, and I hope you will do and create things that truly bring joy in your life.
It was a fun ride while it lasted.

...Geez. This song is... Just, brutal. It's great, some of these guys best work- But the emotions and lyrics are about as raw as they get. And sure, the comments here are full of a huge outpouring of support... But Nathan's seen the stats, he knows the numbers. And no amount of support can change that making a shift in his style is going to cost him in a real, tangible, directly measurable way. Sure, all these people down here will stick around, but it's the people who don't comment, who just browse the front page and rely on the algorithm to feed them new content, who are the risk. CZcams doesn't care how positive people's reactions are. Just how many there are.
I can barely imagine how it must feel to have such direct feedback on your work, feedback that tells you "The things you don't care about are where all your money is from". ...But this song sure helps with that imagining.
Still. Even if it doesn't take away the worries about the future, even if it's just a comment - For my part, I'm certainly looking forward to whatever comes next.

Your songs are one of a kind, one that I still haven't found to this days, or at least to one that gives me the same feelings. Your style is unique, you don't talk about the game, lore, movie, etc, in the song, but whatever is the song about what makes you feel. I realized how wonderful it was when in some bad streaks of my life I found many songs, and that still happens nowadays and I really have to thank you for that, for making such bangers that have helped me a lot and will stick with me till the end.
And about endings, I am really happy to see that this is what you want, to move on from fandoms. It's sad that they have "trapped" you for a while, and this song was the finale song, the real one. All the references to the others before and, most important, all the feelings you've given into it are just amazing, along with the outstanding instruments and Cam Steady's part (dude the "and it takes!" it's pure adrenaline), props to him.
